Initially it might seem overwhelming but once you start you see that it is not that difficult to do it yourself

Thank you Lagosismyhome for the encouragement. I usually do such things myself but I'm really just overwhelmed right now, with work, personal, life, issues etc and after 2 US visa denials before the lockdown. I'm just tired tbh of grad school stress. Please what are the steps? I'd be grateful if you could outline for me please. Thanks and God bless you. Include charges and fees too please.

You can get a T4 visa despite your US refusals; just ensure you state them + the reasons (if any) in your application, ensure that all your documents meet UKVI requirements and prepare for your credibility interview (knowledge about your accomodation & transport options, course & school in addition to not giving generic answers during your interview and confidence during your interview are important).

Read the links below for more info and if you have questions, post them here and anyone who's available will answer them:
Nottingham has explained the Tier 4 Visa process in this link and there's a link to the T4 official guidance in the explanation (take note that the maintenance quoted is for outside London): https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/studywithus/international-applicants/visa-help/10-steps.aspx

Information on how to apply is here on UKVI site: https://www.gov.uk/tier-4-general-visa

Cost:
1. Visa fee - £348

2. IHS - £300 per year; goes up to £470 in October. You can use the IHS checker in this link to calculate your IHS fees: https://www.immigration-health-surcharge.service.gov.uk/checker/type
You'll pay extra IHS for ¹/² year for the extra 4-6 months you'll be granted after your course end date though.

3. TB test from IOM N57,800

Required documents / information for your application:
1. Your CAS information from your school; this information will be filled in your visa application form. Your CAS will also show all the documents that you need to submit with your application.
2. TB test certificate.
3. Documents listed in your CAS.
4. Finance: your tuition fee/balance + maintenance )£1015 monthly *9 for outside London and £1,265*9 monthly for London).
If your course is for more than one year, you only need to show your course fees for 1 year and maintenance for 9 months.

How to show tuition balance and/or maintenance:
A. Your bank statement: This money must be in your account or your parents' for at least 28 days before the day you submit your application online. You will upload your statement to show this.
B. Official financial sponsorship letter from an international company/organisation, the Nigerian govt, the British govt or your T4 sponsor (school). A sponsorship letter will be required except in the case of a scholarship from your school; scholarship from your school will be detailed in your CAS.
C. Loan: must be from a bank regulated by the financial regulators in the country in which the money is held. A loan letter within the 6 months before the date you submit your online application will be required.

Document submission:
After you submit your online application, you will need to pay your IHS, then visa fee before you can select an appointment.
Once you select an appointment, you can select self-upload which is free or assisted upload which costs N11,700.
If you select self-upload, you must upload clear and legible scans of all your documents (preferably in colour since this will closely look like the original). You can upload documents up till the day of your biometrics appointment. You can scan and save your documents in pdf format using the TinyScanner App
If you select the assisted upload, the VAC staff will take care of the scans + uploads for you.
If I missed out anything in the list above, I'll update as soon as I remember.

Does anyone know how long it would take to change information on a TB certificate? Can it be done in one day?

Thanks
I think it can be done in one day, and would cost you extra 8k.

If it is gtb, you should be able to download a receipt once transfer is complete. That's what I printed from my phone.

Hi @Kingp91,

I think what @mimilyrics is saying is that your answers to Pre CAS interview (for those in that stage) or the main interview (Visa stage) should be very specific and detailed.
For example if you are asked ' Why did you choose this school or course for you masters degree', a generic answer will be defining what education or postgrad education or masters degree is. That shows the person either isn't prepared or not a genuine student.

Be straight forward and give detailed evidence ' so a better answer will be for e.g i chose the school because of the track record in being top?? Uni or my course is affiliated with XYZ organisation' or the school has a strong research culture ' etc

There are links on preparing for interviews on youtube, have a look, prepare and be confident.

Happy new month All,
pls is it the rate of the first day of the 28days that is used or the day of printing the statement? Reason is my family needs £37,495 and I had deposited #19M which was over the #18.2M I got when I usee the exchange rate of the day I started counting. However, I lodged in some additional 2M after 5 days just to cushion the effect of the exchange rate.So I really don't know if I should continue counting or start from the day I added another #2M

Personally I think this your advice is unsolicited and insensitive, a lot of people have gotten their CAS, paid visa fees and IHS even, some schools don’t have some peoples course for January intake, you can’t just screenshot news and give unsolicited advice, it’s not cool, everyone has their reasons for doing whatever and no kids here. Don’t make people panic unnecessarily.
READ THE ROOM.

I think with time you probably going to thank STENON for that reasonably ''unsolicited and insensitive'' advice you are attacking.

This is the wrong time to come to the UK to study IF:

1. You plan to work to make-up remaining fees or rent and bills

2. If you took a loan that requires you to start paying back within a month or two you get to the UK.

If the UK leaves the EU by Jan1 2021 and with the pandemic the run on the economy is anybody's guess

If you have the money without needing part time work then you got nothing to worry about as the lockdown and the restrictions can only give you even more time to concentrate on your studies

It is neither of those two dates but the date you are ready and you submit your application online.

On that date you want to submit your application. Check the exchange rate if it is 506 or less meaning 19m covered 37,495 then you are good to go provided it over 28 days. If the exchange rate is more than 506 then you cannot submit until that additional 2m making it 21million is there for 28 days . Only use oanda rate

However, Nigerians operate on "faith", as stuffed into their psyche by their gods of men, so lots will disregard this practical and realistic hard assessment.

Please, I want to ask. Assuming your study is two years will you be required to pay the Ihs fee for the two years or you pay them yearly?
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 11:05am On Aug 01, 2020
You will pay IHS for 2 ¹/² years during your visa application before you pay your visa fee. £300*2 (2 years IHS) + £150 (¹/² year IHS for the extra 4-6 months visa).

Hello everyone!
I also want to ask: For a 20 month course with a tuition of about £15,000 for the whole programme; Do one need to pay/show this amount in the first year or the payment of tuition is split into two?
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 11:36am On Aug 01, 2020
How much is the program per year? Are you required by your school to pay this amount within the 1st year of your course?
For visa applications, you normally need to show only the 1st year fees hence, the questions above.

How much is the program per year? Are you required by your school to pay this amount within the 1st year of your course?
For visa applications, you normally need to show only the 1st year fees hence, the questions above.

The tuition was not stated per year. They only wrote £15000 for the whole programme.

Very well said.
However, Nigerians operate on "faith", as stuffed into their psyche by their gods of men, so lots will disregard this practical and realistic hard assessment.

Oh well.. i was trying to send money home this morning and looked at the exchange rate...though i'm getting a good value for my ££ but wonder how anybody would want to buy £££s now or take all that money to invest in education in the UK.

The direction of the UK economy will be a bit clearer by April next year..by then we will know whether..

1. Leaving the EU is paying off or the consequences is biting

2. The effect of coronavirus will be clearer then

3. EU citizens will not be able to work without papers anymore..level play ground for everyone

4. Will the £ crash? If that happens then studying in the UK will be affordable to foreign students

5. Will universities lower tuition fees, give more incentives to attract foreign students?

6. Will the UK immigration policy change to encourage more foreign students...e.g the unfair IHS and TB test could be removed?

I rather put that money in a low risk investment while i watch how this plays out then i engage in self studying in my interest area, by Sept 2021 i will be more informed and prepared to study in the UK.

This is not for everyone though ...
