Udom is working but he can do much better. While we give him credit, let’s not forget that he’s doing what he should. We all know that in the land of the blind, the man with one eye is the king.

More power to his leadership elbows...

This is the kind of news I expect and demand from every single state in this nation.

Any state not generating substantial IGR should be merged with another!!! No state should be a burden to its region, and nation.

Everyone needs to sit up in this nation!!! This giant has slept for far too long!!! If a governor can't do precisely what Sir. Udom and few others are doing, he should be impeached immediately!!!

God forbid Imo State builds any factory. They claim it is a tourists state. Thus there are numerous hotels to support sex tourism. What landmark will be of interest to tourists in Imo state?

I was about saying this. Aside those FLYOVERS, I think Uyo is still largely a slum, because even beside those roads and FLYOVERS you will continue to see slum settlements everywhere in the state. AKWAIBOM people outside of their state are not different, they live in batches, shanties etc.

95% of AKWAIBOM people are so poor despite the huge oil revenue that accrues to the state.

AKWAIBOM state government should prioritise human capital development and education. Building multiple airport terminals, FLYOVER, bridge, stadia etc, can never be useful to an average AKWAIBOM indigene because most of them are still very poor and cannot even afford air ticket.

Which state are you from

And if you know uyo very well
It has nothing close to Lagos and Ibadan mega slums

Even in the number country in the world, citizens often engage in menial jobs such as house help, nanny, cab driving and now uber and lyft to sustain life. Even if Akwa Ibom becomes heaven tomorrow, every citizen cannot become rich and self-sufficient.

Who told you that majority of Akwa Ibomites are poor? this is very wrong. if you want to see poverty and shanty houses go to the South east. check poverty in the North, and also consider brown zinc and rusted houses in the West.

See this AKWAIBOM illiterate calling someone an illiterate. What's the educational ranking of AKWAIBOM state?

Now back to our discourse. You are referring at AKWAIBOM as a state. I am referring to AKWAIBOM people. They are very poor people despite the huge oil wealth of AKWAIBOM state. Most AKWAIBOM people do the worst form jobs one can imagine. They live in squalor. Most of them in PH live in shanties. You hardly see an AKWAIBOM person living in a good house.

Most of them in Lagos, do house help, okada, truck pusher etc, those are legit jobs but not suitable for a state that waste money building useless airport terminals, FLYOVERS, stadia, hotels etc, because most AKWAIBOM cannot even afford to enjoy all those things.

AKWAIBOM state should focus on human capital development and not continue to build those stuff that an average AKWAIBOM indigene cannot even afford.

You are right about many of those assertions, and the Government of Akwa Ibom over the years have been developing the factories so that the citizens can return home and be gainfully employed, but you can not force a horse to drink water.

When you talk about Human capital development, what are these numerous factories for? What is the Airline for? Sometimes you sound biased and myopic but then again, you might want to be winning an argument or spiting your co-debater without knowing you are sounding ignorant of the very words you put out.

I think any Akwa Ibomite living in shanties and kpakos are doing so because they choose to, not because they do not have another choice. There is a family living behind my house at Lekki in the worst situation, they live in wooden house over a shanty that smells, but they look gorgeous. I feel no one with a house in a village is supposed to live that way, but then again you can not force them to live better even though the government is doing much homefront to make them feel like relocating. Terrible I must say, but that does not mean that these efforts of the State Government are not in line with the developmental goals of the UN.

So open your eyes and see the good while also criticising the bad.

Personally, I love critics, cos they are like sand paper, they sand others and make them become smooth, while they are trashed at the end of the day.

You are the sand paper, and Akwa Ibomites, God-willing may be the polished woods at the end of the day.

Continue your God-given talent as a sandpaper, and heavens will reward you soon in a refuse bin.

The aspect of the news that exponentially catches my attention is the one that says Akwa Ibom can survive without federal allocation. Competing with Lagos; a fit uncommon considering the monopoly of that states' political actors in terms of making sure they fight to block competitive businesses. But Akwa Ibom against all odds, will soon become the Callifonia of Nigeria.

The reality is that AKWAIBOM people are poor and living in shanties and batchers, while their government is rich in oil wealth.
Be responsible for once, you can't use the lack and ignorance of Ibomites within ur neighborhood to negate the wonderful works this governor is doing. Think about the multiplier effect of what he is doing and the stage his setting for industrializa. This is what Nigeria needs unfortunately, we have APC government more interested in telling petty lies than facing reality

Your point is totally off I must say.

Saying people live in Batchers and Lagos is developed is a joke. Is it Sanwuolu or Ambode that transformed Lagos? Lagos was capital of Nigeria for ages with lots of National resources channeled to there. At the moment, even some oil companies in Nigeria have their resources channeled there.

Port Harcourt has been like an oil capital for decades too.

So how can you try to use that to diminish the massive strides Udom Emmanuel has taken to transform the State.

He has performed amazingly and deserve the praise. Also encouragement to end his lap with 0some more monumental strides.
He didn’t drop his opinion politely however, he is very right when says more can and should be done.

If you juxtapose the money Akwa Ibom has with the population and land mass, you'd see that more can be done. The thing about Nigerians is that we have been so oppressed by our leaders that we applaud them for the very little they do...

It thus bro...just do more research..e.g Ethiopia Air, NNPC, Saudi Aramco, CC CHINA

ETC BRO

Most governments in developing countries or countries run by socialists and communists own must corporations in those countries. Also countries such as Nigeria where the funds are shared from the central government tend to own companies rather than create enabling conditions. It is very funny that governors of the states in Nigeria are involved in the payment of civil servant's salaries.
