hello house,
good day. please i have a question,
i submitted my application online two months ago, and i was sent a letter to go for my bio-metrics in any of their centers around.
I was given three months deadline to do so, which will expire this month. but the issue now is that VFS centers both in abuja and lagos are still closed. i cant even book appointment online.
please what do i do at this stage. am confused.

please help me out.

my deadline is around the corner.

Hello Younghero2,

As it is, there is nothing you can do other than to wait till VFS office reopens. Failure to give biometrics or submit other supporting documents won't be used as a medium to refuse your application. The 90 days timeframe will automatically be extended.

All the best

Below is mainly for Indian students but we can learn a thing or two from it

Here is some information from today's WEBINAR.

1. They have No Idea when VACs(India) reopen
2. Non-sds will also be processed if it is a complete application which includes bio and medical.
3. No need to write IELTS again if your test results have expired after you submit an application. If visa approved and IELTS expires by the time you reach Canada then also you do not have to take IELTS again.
4. New Delhi office and sister offices are working on Indian applications.
5. Update the date in your LOA if the start dates change by a week or two so you don't face any issue at the port of entry.
6. If your course is HYBRID and you have a proof from DLI or if it's mentioned in your LOA then you may travel to Canada(applicants after March 18th approval)
7. PTE results accepted.
8. PTE doesn't fall under SDS.
9. 2 stage approval is for complete applications too - it is not just for incomplete applications.
10. 1st stage refused - considered as a complete refusal.
11. You can work in home country while doing online class. This won't impact PGWP.
12. According to IRCC, they have already issued AIP to some Indian Applicants.
13. According to IRCC, they will try to issue AIP before Sep 15. However, there are some chances that some applicants may receive AIP after Sep 15 for fall 2020 course.
14. Stage 2 will only be refused if you have a criminal record or you do not pass the medical. Then there are other factors like if you have done something illegal or you are a spy. Stage 1 approval means that you have passed the usual eligibility criteria ie you are a genuine student, enough funds, gic paid and stuff like that.
15. If you are planning to travel to Canada, you must provide a QUARANTINE PLAN to the relevant team. If not you may not be found admissible to enter Canada.

Hello Fratermathy,

Very Insightful Information.

Bless up!

- Yes it does expire (2 years Validity)

- No you don't need IELTS for Admission to Schools in CANADA (even though u see it as a requirement for international students on the sch. Website) , if English is the official language of ur country (e.g. Nigeria , Ghana), and the medium of instruction in ur high SCH. , University/Polytechnic is in English Language, u are good to go to apply for Admission.

@JustMellow and other experienced folks: My son got an undergraduate admission from University of Regina starting in September 2021, so I like to know if it is advisable to take advantage of this season of AIP and apply for his study permit? Your candid response will be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the swift response. Kindly educate me on what I can hold onto as justification for submitting the study permit now now for a program starting in Sept 2021. Does RICC's temporary fast-track application processing for Fall 2020 also cover Fall 2021 programs? Any verifiable
reference will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Muslimity,

IRCC gave until September 15. You should captivate on this opportunity. The current PT is 25 wks. There is an option to defer and IRCC won't refused an application based on incomplete document(s). People are getting updates before 2 - 3wks. The indians taking most of the spot are now few. If you are a risk taker without dreading the consequence, then in my opinion, go ahead.

In the below citation from CICNEWS, I will appreciate if you could help me clarify what it means. Does it mean that if I declare I have no family ties to Canada I am at disadvantaged? If I declare I have a family ties to Canada, does it mean it will strenghten my chances? Does this Canadian family ties replace Family ties to Home country which hitherto used as a proof that I will return to my home country after study? Kindly enlighten me, please.

How to obtain a study permit for fall 2020
The first stage is much like the regular study-permit process. International students have to submit:

1. letter of acceptance;
2. Certificat d’acceptation du Québec (for Quebec students only);
3. proof of funds;
4. proof that they can leave Canada when they no longer have legal temporary or permanent status; and
5. any family ties to Canada.

Thanks JustMellow. My son's admission into the university is originally fixed for Sept 2021. It is strictly not for 2020, so it is not a case of deferment. What I want to know is: Can we still go ahead and apply now now, knowing full well that this window is for Sept 2020 applications whereas his own admission year is originally Sept 2021?
