I don hear u nah. I maintain that reading is the fastest way to achieve mastery.

Before February 2020, I knew zero about stocks, but I am currently 40% up on some of my investments with zero school fees. If that doesn't impress you nothing will.

It is a jungle alright but same rules ( risk-reward, TA, FA etc. ) apply.

Read Investment Biker by Jim Rogers. It would change your life

Qwention I ask u, u no answer. Please read d book first before putting out erroneous comments.

Just so u know, if I strictly follow Rule #1 no stocks on the NSE would be worthy. No stock I analysed so far, passed the big five test. The valuation method he detailed in d book, is too conservative so much that u can hardly see any stock on the NSE trading close to that price.

Dem use Juju hold you for NSE?

Best thing you can do for yourself as a Nigerian investor is not to invest in assets dependent on the Nigerian economy.

The world is a very big place and thanks to technology you can access it from the comfort of your home. Don't waste that advantage

Where can I access some of these books? With the benefit of hindsight, in what order would you have read the books if you were just starting out today?

I am not sure being 40% up make you a champ just yet. You came to the party at the right time, when the market was already bearish and on its low. This is a key parameter to consider. The story might have been different if you had come inn in January or any of the previous bullish runs.. consider yourself "COVID-lucky" grin grin grin

How did I know you got that from rule #1 if I haven't read it?
I don't use a single valuation method. It's always a combination of comparative ratios, historical performance and absolute valuation methods that depend on the stock and the sector being valued.
The bolded is not totally true. I have seen few stocks that passed the test. Abeg no vex. I just wanted you to understand our reality from what is written in the textbooks.

Like someone pointed up there I may not really know what am doing yet.

These are a few I have read:

* Trend qualification and trading.
* Trend trading set-ups.

* A trader's money management system.

* Why stocks go up and down.

* Rule #1.
* Value investing for dummies. (This one I will start this weekend)

* The little book that beats the market. (I used the concepts in this one to buy Vitafoam, Caverton, and redstarex. My Caverton is in d red sha)

* NSEMPA.

As per bolded, that is how I went to be reading "Trade your way to financial freedom" by Van Tharp, I am not sure I finished that book but if I did, it must have been just sheer will power and not that I was carried along.

I understood Mcy. I didn't anticipate a reversal so quickly though.
What I did was split my planned volume into 3 parts. (20%,30%,50%) . Bought the first tranch - 20%. @N3.28 UCap. Did same for UBA @6.57.
My safety net... Is that the coy must be strong dividend paying coys.
Wow! You had a good strategy in place. I added my 'like' to the ones you've got. grin

I will however like to add that you should still be mindful of your entry at same time, it's also key.
Pa Emma and other dividend investor bosses can tell you better.
Good luck.

Aside GTB and few other stocks, market seems to be taking some break.
Seplat: N35M needed from deep pocket to move it's ministry fwd.....
Zee: Now 8.05 difference from GTB. Let's see if it will move or will still remain indecisive.....

The interim dividend announcement seems to be taking longer time than necessary .....hope it's not yet priced-in self.

Updated: Seplat moved up with 10%......now 385...... grin
