In 2012, when Goodluck Jonathan announced plans to get
loans from China to Construct Nigeria’s first Speed Train
Track, Abuja to Kaduna, and other projects, El-Rufai insulted
him.
Today, that Train route is the saving grace for the North West
states as they were cut off by Kidnappers and Bandits.
Today, Buhari has borrowed more than double the debt the 16
years PDP Govt left in 2015.
With the new $29.9b Buhari is borrowing to fund 2020 budget,
Nigeria’s debt profile may be hitting about $120billion from the
$35b In 2015 and the Body-Bag Governor is now Deaf and
Dumb.
Nigerians that bought El-Rufai’s propaganda and fabrications
are shell shocked to utter a word on the reckless and
squandering habit of President Buhari, poverty in the land,
unemployment, killings and looting of our treasury

God bless PMB for not abandoning the laudable project and for starting and completion of Lagos - Ibadan railway line.
Together, we will make Nigeria great again for those of us that didn't see the country as zoo.

This is why I say I don't understand Nigerians.

All the loans we've been taking from IMF and World bank all these years, for which we saw next to nothing on ground, we didn't complain much, if at all.

Now we're taking loans from China to build proper infrastructure that we can all see, and we're up in arms about China 'colonising' the country.

What a confused set of people!

Leave them na.
For same set of people who are adept at supporting the wrong people in power I don't expect much. They hate China for no reason.

Lol! Read the words of the transport minister who had to double the prices of tickets on the Abuja -Kaduna route to recoup the expenses.

Please keep being impressed with optics but don’t wail later when the lines shut down when they cannot be run profitably

Enough with your message of doom.

There is nothing that stops same raillines be used for heavy goods transport.

I'm sure you've been blind to the various images of Amaechi at the Apapa port for instance.

By the way, I'm in the UK as we speak and I know how often ticket prices are reviewed upwards.

Just acknowledge your anger being it isn't on the eastern corridor which you ensured wasnt the case.

Kudos to Buhari and Rotimi Amaechi for the Rail projects.
Even if we owe, we have something to show for it.

Railway Revolution?

Nigeria gets crude oil money from the Nigerdelta.

About 90% of the Nigerdelta area are not in the railway revolution because a crude tribal religious bigot is in charge of Nigeria.

Nigeria is now listed as a FAILED STATE.
A country’s railway system is meant to connect all parts of the country, not selective.

Nigeria is now completely listed as a FAILED STATE.

Do you even know what that means?

You don’t lead a country by dividing its people through your government policies.

I was there when Jonathan commissioned the completed project before handing over to Buhari. Upon assumption of office, Buhari personally covered the whole project work with tarpaulin so that Nigerians wouldn't know about it until now.

In essence, this project was started and completed by Jonathan but Buhari is just taking the glory. The loan Buhari collected from China is in Yusuf's account, that is why Yusuf is the richest man in the world.

Very funny pipu. Una no dey shame?

The only reason why I supported Buhari re-election

If a new party had entered, the project will be abandoned.

Me too!

But for crazy Saraki the Lagos Kano line would have been completed and what we weould be talking now owuld be

Calabar to Maiduguri and Lagos to Calabar.

If PMB do not commence these projects my fears are the coming administration may abandone it.

Wike should take a queue and complete the Port Harcourt Mono rail.

Re: Nigeria's Railway Revolution In Pics by roscoman: 8:00am On Aug 15, 2020
Sometimes I don't know the way and manners some people reason. For someone to be saying projects PDP cannot completed in 16 years is what APC is doing in 5 years. Well points of corrections, most of these projects was conceived and started by administration of former president Olusegun Obasanjo towards the end of his 2nd terms in Office. GEJ came to continue some which includes Lagos - Ibadan expressway, all these rail road projects e.t.c.

Most of these projects outlived is initiations because of time and periods required to finished them in line with Projects Management concepts. In projects Management, some projects may be completed in years and it may require huge financial outlays that would be required for funds budgetary allocation on yearly basis hence the person or administration that started them may not be able to complete them.

Except roads construction that should not be delayed for a longer time before it is completed.

This is to let everyone know that all these railway projects was started by PDP administrations APC is just completing them which may be is major achievement by the time this Government is handing over power in 2023.

Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri Rail Intersection

Agbor Station, on Itakpe-Warri Line

Inside Station along Warri-Itakpe line

Inside Train along Warri-Ajaokuta-Itakpe line

This is really commendable and I'm happy seen majority of NL positive comments. Let the good work continue in all Nigeria.

And they should not forget to tackle the following problems to;

INSECURITY
UNEMPLOYMENT
ELECTRICITY
EDUCATION
HEALTH, etc.

You're totally wrong.

1.The Kaduna-Abuja rates were only increased to reflect social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the train will only be allowed to carry less than half its previous capacity.

https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2020/07/26/fg-increases-abuja-kaduna-train-fare-by-100/

https://punchng.com/abuja-kaduna-railway-monthly-revenue-rises-by-400-nrc/

2.The railways are designed to terminate in several dry ports in the country including Kaduna, Ibadan & the regular sea port in Lagos for movement of import/export merchandise and other trade. Even the pipes for the AKK project will be transported using the Warri-Itakpe railway.

In fact if you carefully read the OP, it was mentioned that the Kajola Railway Factory is designed to produce coaches for the national line AND other private rail users that will be using the railways for cargo/transport.

Therefore these railways are set to be very profitable considering the level of cargo trade on its routes.

GEJ ko, Goatluck ni.

To be very frank, it was GEJ's government that actually secured the loans for the railway modernisation program from China to execute the masterplan as intended by the OBJ administration.
It was the same GEJ who also secured loans for the construction of the Zungeru Hydro Power plant. Even Buhari acknowledged his efforts and renamed a train station in his honor. You can talk about train modernisation without mentioning Goodluck. That would be an error in history

The loans taken for these projects are worth it I must say and Kudos to this administration in terms of infrastructural development.

The loans are not worth it. Why borrow more than 500m usd with interest for 20 years. Negotiations should have been. trade by barter.

I.e. build us Railway line, and we will pay you with 1m barrels of crude oil every month for 12 months etc.

Considering when the loan was taken years ago, Crude oil was about 60usd per barrel. At 12 months thats 720m.

Nigeria's project finance should be substituted with trade by barter rather than expensive loans.
Re: Nigeria's Railway Revolution In Pics by Kinikini: 8:18am On Aug 15, 2020
Unless the projects can offset the loans, it would never be worth it.
