I also had a child that is twelve years of age diagnosed with down syndrome, can walk talk or sit properly and we had tried our best take her to different specialist no improvement lately a friend advise me to contact school that can help l did both in Lagos and abuja,they rejected the child saying they can cope ,the only one that accept gavebill of close to five hundred thousand per term and l don't have that kind of money and the child is growing without education, we had taking her for prayer but we are still expecting God healing meanwhile we can leave the child like that ,what can I do lam a low income earner of just frustrating having to carry the child to do everything pls what can l do.l had gone to different speacilost they just gave advise of physiotherapy but the child is growing without education pls what can l do l will be glad if is move to front age to help me get help thanks

That's a good question. In Nigeria and some parts of Africa the probability of even reaching such diagnosis is scarce and even if such a diagnosis is reached it's never on time. I know of several Nigerian families that their children were given similar diagnosis when the kids were well into their early teens. If I may throw ur question back to ur face, why then did their religion fail them?

Autism spectrum disorders does not have a cure, atleast not in the sense of that word. Pls I don't mean any disrespect, but U should educate urself more about an issue before u come to comment and show ur ignorance. Google really explains ASD very well, u should do well to research it.

Don't get me, I am also a believer but I don't believe blindly. I believe with reasons. Besides Bible says and I quote "In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead"- James 2; 17.

Pls lets be pragmatic with information and reasons. Bringing religion and God into this discussion will only complicate the topic. Let's keep it simple cos blind belief would not solve the issue. There are parents suffering cos of this and children who are not getting their needed therapy because of lack of information. Thank you again.

Get a phone, download all the Joshua Selman messages you can and then play them out loud maybe on a Bluetooth speaker for the child. Since he's not getting any education why not let that be his education for now.
The messages are anointed believe me and sufficient time under them will change any situation.

He didn't talk till age 5 plus.
However now he is on a regular schol and his IQ is above average.
It was a long battle.
Please start by using the teaching aids that interest him.
People criticised me for letting him so long on the computer but that was the way i wsd able to reach him initially.

Get and watch the movie LIKE LITTLE STARS or something like that. It's a movie by the maker of another movie THREE IDIOTS. Put your mind at rest and don't compare him with any other child. He has great potentials.

I don't know where u get it information from though but the last I checked, hypnotherapy was only used to alleviate depression in children who have Autism. Not all children with Autism show signs of severe depression though. Hypnotherapy is not used in the routine treatment of autism.
Pls when u give information, make it specific so u don't mislead people.

Each one developed the syndrome and it has nothing to do with the Creator. There are actual reasons for autism.....but you have to seek them out for yourself. It isn't a plague nor punitive.

Get your child involve in learning musical instrument such as piano, sax, etc. Get her kids Christian video music such as the NIV Kids video, Cedarmont Kids Musical Group video. If you are base in Lagos visit Patrick Speech and Language Centre at 13 REMI FANI-KAYODE AV., IKEJA GRA.

For CHRIST'S SAKE don't visit any pastor or imam or native doctor - work with your child specialists, attend training on autism and pray, pray together with your family alone in your house. Keep eyes on your child 24 hours because of child molesters.

Lol, we are still discussing. Don't take offense if my opinion differs from another person. That is why we are here to learn together. Hypnotherapy has not being used so far for my son cos he doesn't have the depressive phase so far. I have heard about it's use before not for Autism and have never been directly exposed to it yet.
And I don't take things blindly, I research it thoroughly. U should too.

Ur story is sad. Pls be advised that downs syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of all or part of a third copy of chromosome 21. It's a genetic disorder. So be careful what the church people ask you to do. Take care and remain blessed.
