Disclaimer: I am not discrediting anybody's opinion.

I see lot of move out and buy lands without considering the constraints involved.

1. How long did it take him to get up to 1m?
2. Can his income cover his day to day expenses? If not, he will struggle to pay the next rent if he doesn't hustle really hard. U have to plan for both cases, best and worst.
3. What happens when you buy a land and it just sits there doing nothing?! Unless you are ready to develop a structure, that's good money tied down.

There are lots of investments out there that can return 5-10% monthly with that amount of money.

You can take a part of it and move into a self contained apartment for just a year.

Imagine 10%/month of 800k in 12 months, plus your savings for that year. You may decide to go for both or move to your furnished flat and reinvest the money for another year, use the return to acquire the landed property.

But then, patience is virtue here my friend.

Start Building a Business that will in future buy you a better land and houses.
It is a good thing to have multiple streams of income and make more millions in dollars too.
Parking out of your parents house is advisable when you are ready to marry and settle down...

were did you get the money from?

at that age in Nigeria savings alone can't produce up to 1million even if you are working!

guy! you are doing something fishy like yahoo plus ultra

for you to start planning of renting a house and furniture it without thinking of business or any investment to venture into! seems like there is something fishy.

don't be like your brother hushpuppi

Oga shift abeg. You think everyone is meant to suffer the Nigerian factor? I made my first 1M over 3 years ago before I turned 22. I made my mistakes and learnt my lessons. At 24, I was able to bounce back to face life proper. All in a legit way.

Good evening Nairalanders.

Please i need an advice on the next step i should take in life. I am a guy, 25 years of age and still living with my parents, though i am not jobless but recently my bank account just hit one million and 200 thousand naira.

So my parents are advising to buy a landed property in my home town that will take about 900 to 1 million naira. But the thing is that i am 25 and i feel at my age i should no longer be staying with my parents, so i want to rent a flat and furniture it to my taste, i feel it is time to move on, i need my freedom to finally face life like a man.

So my question is, should i purchase a landed property at 25 and continue living with my parents or pack out and start my Adult life. Note: i am not jobless".

No matter how many clothes a young man has, he cannot have as many rags as an old man.

My best advise for you is to listen to your parents... Buy that land, fence it round and gate it..

Land is an asset and it appreciates in value. Be wise.

E get why your parents advise you to buy land. Listen to them.

Another option is to invest it, before you clock 30, your return of investment would have tripled that 1m to a point where you can stop working for people and start working for yourself.

It could even set you up for life.

I sense pride in your tone, you are 25 and feel you shouldn't be staying with your parents anymore, I hate to break it to you, there are men approaching 40 and still staying with their parents.

No let any woman pressurise you to do something regrettable.

Calm down use your brain...

Im also 25, earn close to 4m annually net, and still live with my parents. At this point in my life, "freedom" is the least of my worries. Trying to build a very solid foundation for myself (career) first while I enjoy the free accommodation and feeding. Life will become easier for you bro. Think this through.

Thank you,

What is it with Nigerians saying pack out pack out. Instead of saving up, making investments and diversifying most young people will move out spend a lot on accommodation just to prove they are independent , not a smart move if you ask me except there are solid reasons like the house being very far to the place of work or another state etc.

The worst that can happen is to contribute to the running of the house. Stay there and be firmly grounded and you move out later.

I don't know why people see a young guy leaving home as a sign of being a man, its not ooo.

Small endurance to achieve a good aim they don't have they keep on saying they want freedom, which kind yeye freedom.

The 1m this OP has will just vanish by the time he rents and apartment and furnish it.

My brother I'll sincerely advice you listen to your parents resist the temptation of moving out. Smile I wish you know how priceless that advice from your parents is, do you know the next five years the price of that same land might increase?

Also after purchasing the land you'll still have 300 all you'll need to do is add to it start a business or invest it i promise you before the end of one year you'll be surprised at your growth

I wish you know

It is not as easy as you think. packing and furniture to my taste will take nothing less than 800k. but i am 100% able to pay the yearly rent and take care of myself. while a land will take me nothing less than 900k but i will continue staying with my parents and i will then start husling for another money for rent again in years to come which wont be easy.
Do it as you just said, buy the land and pack out later. You can even share a flat with a friend

Stay in your parents house since they're not complaining and build your own house instead of renting, or is it not good to be your own landlord?

Go and invest your money in a low or medium risk investment like mutual funds or agrictech/crowdunding. In Agrictech, 1.2m can become 1.8m in a year.

At 25, you need to stay liquid, so avoid land or fixed assets, especially if you have to invest your life savings. You can't easily convert your land to cash so it's going to be a f00lish move to put your life savings on land. A time will come when you'll need that money and you won't see a buyer. Some buyers will come and offer half the cost of the land. Sometimes, you won't see a buyer even if you advertise for 5 years.

Agrictech is your best bet at 25. Your cash shouldnt be far from you. Cash is King!

As per packing out of your father's house, it's one of the mistakes many poor and average people make. Any small thing, I wan pack out, I wan pack out. You won't hear this nonsense from rich kids.

How did that agritech works

Haha at your age I had 3m still living with parents and taking it slowly. I won't advice that u buy a land and don't be too quick to move out. The most important thing is how do u continue to earn more money. This thought alone could lead u to starting a business and when you have bought the land or secures a apartment, how do u start the business then. At 25 u have a long way to go and throughout the journtey, na money u need oo.

Dude, I hate that expression you used with passion.

Invest the money in fixed govt securities to grow it until you figure out what business you can venture into.

Do not buy a worthless land in your village, land purchase is to boost ego especially in villages.

Good evening all. Please I'm a private school teacher with kids and a bedridden husband. Since the close down of schools due to the current pandemic, as a bread winner of the family, I didn't waste time to jump into trading by selling by the road. This is where I make daily bread for myself, my kids, aged mother and the sick hubby (I pray he gets back on his feet soon). Last week, a task force team against street trading came and went away with all my goods. They are asking me to pay N20,000 to get back my goods. Honestly, there's no such money anywhere in the family please. This has taken our daily bread away from us as nothing to eat again. Please I need your financial assistance to enable me get back my goods. Even if it's what can put food on our table as we have been seriously starving. Thanks and may God richly bless you.
