Don’t pack out. Remain in that house and start a business. You can use the profits u make from d business to buy a land. A 25 year old is not too old to be under her parent’s roof. |

Only, obey just obey your parents get the land and in time to come you'll appreciate God that you made the right decision. If you get the land now, you'll still have 200k-300k remaining. So in the next 6months - 1year u can get your own apartment. IF YOU RENT NOW BRO, U NO GO FIT SAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY AGAIN! |

There is nothing absolutely wrong in purchasing a property at 25 years of age., your are of legal age. When i was your age my late father forced me to invest in assets, by then i viewed his advice as irksome. For example one of his friend needed an urgent surgery in 1993,[ that was first year of Late Abacha regime} and want to sell off one his land @10K,. by then i have 25K, [ money carried over from IBB regime} i delayed, my father bought that land in my name, and demanded i pay him back. That was a time when my home town have what seems to be a meaningful sign of development. Boom two industries was established, two universities came on board, one relocated and the other a private one, two colleges was established by these Universities and investment sprung up here and there. By then i wanted to buy Nissan Sunny executive sold at 18999 Naira by Shitta motors, My father said if you buy a car don't drive it into my premises. I replied why? he gave me a lesson, saying my son 1: Pay me back my money .2: Buy a land. 3: Plant a tree on a land. 4: Marry. By year 2000 1-3 was accomplished. It was a year before his death in 2014, he handed over the lands documents to me. By year 2017, the value of that land which falls into prime location, placed at 15million Naira will be bought off without negotiation. I planted a hybrid palm tree in another land through my father advice, as of today i am having no regrets. My young man DON'T buy an Iphone, Be Totally different from your peers, buy a land, Plant a tree, delay a little ( to have the temperament to handle married life) and marry 4 Likes |

Forget those advising you be a man bullshyt, Bought my first car, land at my parents house. Even now I still stay with them. Don't pay rent or any bills. My meals are even brought to my room whenever am in town. To be honest, when I bought my first land, it was very cheap cause it's way out of the city, wasn't even keen on using it anytime soon. But as luck have it, the telecom guys needed some part of it to erect a network mass....omoh I made a killing We just renewed the lease less than a year ago 4 Likes

CuteVally: Op I will advise you base on my own experience. As long as your parents house is comfortable and they are not making your life miserable, I will advise you use that money and buy the land or invest it something productive. (Forex or any other good business) In a few months time you can still safe enough to move out of your parents house. Don't be tempted with the promises of being a man and having your freedom because if that is the only reason why you want to move out, I can promise you that 1million will not last 5 months. Be patient being a man and having your freedom ( having your own accommodation) is inevitable but let it be on your own terms and not because of societal pressure. The 3 plots of land my elder brother bought for me in 1993 in woji port harcourt for less than a million naira is worth around 15million as of last month.. Be patient and be wise. |

DON'T PACK OUT. Living with your parents have prevented irresponsible people from getting close to you. Immediately you pack out, you are vulnerable. Buying a land is a good idea. It's an investment. The most important thing is to have a steady income or good business. You and your parents have good relationship. Please keep it up and God bless you |

CuteVally:sorry I'm coming late, but let me give you a sincere advice, 1million is no more a big money in this country, secondly I don't know the nature of your business, Do you trade, are into skill work or civil servant ? If you are a trader, then came down and work more to earn more money, because with 1m you are still a petty trader in today Nigeria. If you are a skill worker, still cool down and also make more money, reason is, in future you may encounter a contract that may need you to invest some money before you got your pay, and when you lack the finance you loose the contract. As a civil servant too you also need to cool down and earn more as your parents are not disturbing you, finding an appartment of your own will attract a care free life that will eat deep into your pocket if care is not taken. Lastly stop disclosing your networth with anybody hence it will attract unnecessary expenses, your parents gave you a good advice to invest in land, any time you feel you want to old heed to their advice, but let it be in a location that will appreciate in future. Stay bless |

CuteVally:I do not kw ur source of income...but I strongly believe no loving and reasonable parent WOD want to push their son outta the home at that age especially in Nigeria ..I WOD advise u to still hang on in ur parents crib.Start a business WT that money.u could grow 100 percent of that profit in a year or two.be patient and don't rush into into getting a new crib.take ur time.plan ahead..be wise |

If this your story is true. Then I will give you this advise. First, how did you make the money? Cause,if you made the money bit by bit,you wouldn't be this confused. I am 23 years old,and I bought my first landed property last year(at age 22). I am currently working on a farming project with some of my buddies, and guess what? I am still in my parents house. I pay most of the bills (electric bills, feeding and some maintenance) cause my father owns the building. If the money is pushing you too much, then accept some responsibilities at home, and stop deceiving yourself with the "Am 25 and I need to be a man". My brother,if the money no dey, wetin you for do or is that all this while (before the money entered) you've not been a man? You have a good parent like mine, who pushes you into getting your life started. Note: Nairaland will never raise money for your next rent or buy those properties at good price when you want to resell them. Instead of thinking of moving out into a rented apartment while not replace that thinking with moving into your own apartment. Where you have your tenants paying you house rent. Just that thought has been keeping me on my toes. I hope this helps you. 2 Likes |

Dont fool yourself with that 'it's time to be a man' bullshit. look at the inflation rate today and exchange rate today. that should tell you that that 1m u hustle save no be shingbain again unlike before. Ask yourself how long it took you to save that up. Now you go pay and rent and 'furnish' as they like to say, then 6 - 700k don comot for your acct one time. b4 you know 12 months is up and it's time to pay landlord again. then you start selling the things you used to 'furnish' to make year 2 rent. And burdening your friends with borrow requests. Meanwhile you have no savings left and no ASSET(land). My own case I used the money I would have used to 'move out and be a man' to buy btc and the price tripled 4 months later. Safe to say no regrets at all. When no be say dem de pursue you comot. If u want freedom to de carry girls come your room just do it. dem no go flog you with cane. 1m savings never even start to go anywhere. Build consistent income then you move out in style. No be race. 2 Likes |
