The tantrum may be a sign of an underlying disorder, more likely under disruptive behaviour disorders. I regularly experience such at the child psychiatric clinic where I do take shifts, 5 year olds smashing their parents phones to making efforts to destroy sensory balls used for their therapy.

If beating up a child is the only way to achieve behaviour modifications, were the kidnappers, runs girls, ritualists, thugs, assassins, yahoo boys, armed robbers and other forms of criminality committed by Nigerians not beaten when they were children?
