I spent around 15k monthly on fuel alone before I went solar. If the electricity is available bill payments should not be an issue. In the past few weeks there's been some improvement in power supply. I hope the progress continues, we'll get there someday.

The categorization already exists and it's not based on rich or poor but on energy requirements. R3 customers are usually estates that have been bulk metered. R2 customers are most other residential users whether rich or poor. The story was slanted to make it look like it was something wonderful. but it still boils down to tariff increase across board.

So industrial users, big estates, those in the villages, those in cities will pay more but on a staggered scale which is how every single tariff increase has been. Never been a flat rate.

Most areas pay to get their transfomers, pools and the so called meters, people pay over 60- 70k to get prepaid mtrs, at the end, PHCN, will be all over cutting the light that they don't even provide. Most houses or areas, u cannot use the light to pump water.
