From the post, the basis for classification appears to be based on residential areas being categorised as rich or poor smiley. Meanwhile in some cases, rich people build or live amongst people in poor residential areas and vice versa. How will that be sorted?

Right there. They need to tell us more. For instance, details on the indices for determining the poor in Ikoyi, Lekkki etc and the rich at Ijegun, Ijede, Abule Egba, etc.

They did their research very well.:

"This (tariff increase) is said to be a requirement for the approval of a proposed $1.5 billion World Bank loan for the power sector."

I'm not talking about the loan but the effect of the increase in common Nigerians.

Its still about d loan because d perceived "benefit" from taking d loan far outweighs ur concerns about d effect of tariff increase on common Nigerians. If u can't understand d reason for d increase, then u can't appreciate why Nigerians have to suffer

I live in a supposed 'highbrow' area, but I know some of my colleagues who earn what I earn or even more, who built their houses in a supposed 'low cost' area...why then will I pay more for electricity than people who are as comfortable or even more comfortable than myself? undecided

Sorry, but this is one senseless policy that should not be implemented in a place like Nigeria.
Re: Buhari Approves New Electricity Tariff; Rich Nigerians To Pay More by purpinkx(m): 8:10pm On Aug 26, 2020
This is how taxing started.

The poor were told that only the rich will be taxed, so they supported it.

Then government later said, “we can't tell who's rich or not rich from merely looking at them, so let's just tax everyone”

...and no one protested!

Everybody will pay higher tariff

Even as a strong critic of the dullard, will commend him on this, if it’s fully enforced. There was just no sense in expecting an Ikoyi boy to pay same tariffs with a Mushin boy.

Will further advise that luxury items should also be taxed heavily.
. Why speaking in parable? Who is ikoyi boy and mushin boy? Answer Ngige versus Faleke. If you know you know. It doesn't make sense. Electricity tarrif is the same in UK. Africa we lack ability to rule.

Why should anyone pay for more of this item than another for the same quantity and quality of item they enjoy? No sense in this, electricity is an essential item.

Its a rare case and cannot be considered as a measure. A settlement where you have 20 rich guys living in the midst of 3,000 poor people is still classified a poor settlement

This is just communist bullshit by a set of confused people.

Why will the price of electricity, a commodity, be dependent on my income levels.
Who makes the judgement on who is rich and who is poor?

Nigerians are the biggest Maga of all time. With the astronomical increase in electricity tariff it means we are the ones that will be facilitating bulk of the 1.5 billion loan.

Do the math and see, if over 100 millions Nigerians decide to pay this tariff increase monthly then there wouldn't be any need to get the loan.

This is what Fela tagged as Government Magic.

To think that one is sharing a country with people that are too daft and shallow that they cant think or read in-between lines. Most docile people in the whole world.

And how long are we going to keep suffering. The taxes we pay is there anything to show for it from the governor's side. They keep increasing everything and we are in the losing side all the time. What have you as a Nigerian benefited from this country?

Instead of him to fight for us to have light, he's supporting some paying more for light that we don't use or see...
How do you even differentiate the poor from the rich?
