Hi Guy's.

Really need your advice, I have been driving a Peugeot 406 for the last 6yrs & I plan to upgrade to a Benz.

My friend advised I go for the 2005 Mercedes e350. Problem is I have heard a lot of frightening stories about the Benz, some say it has high cost of maintenance & that the fuel consumption is high but the most scary are the cost of spare parts.

Though I am a complete novice when it comes to Benz, I must confess I am already madly in love with the e350.

Please advise.
buy a good one and that is what they said to us when we started off high fuel, blablabla....if you can do a C class great but E Class is okay ..if you can maintain Peugeot which is an European car you can do for Benz...always buy original parts and let Benz mechanic fix your cars

it's a good ride! my friend drives one...S Class? mbanu but e Class is okay ....lots of swag in that

Trinity is a place in Lagos (Apapa) but I like sourcing my parts from Promise land (laadipo) though I have. never had alternator issues in my history of driving Benz ( my second though )

to fix AC in Benz most times are pricey that is if you see a good technician
Trinity dey Lagos sef and I don go apapa a few times

Seeing a good technician has always been the bone of contention, I watch YouTube videos and see the small devices those guys use in fixing their cars, for e.g plastic screw for the sensitive parts to prevent damage to the cars interior while our Naija guys go just chook iron rusted screw driver to comot soft materials thereby destroying either the beauty or the whole system itself

And the best part is those equipment are mostly dirt cheap on amazon, aliexpress and the rest

You need a competent technician to scan and diagnose the challenge you're going thru with that car and fix it.

Am considering a 2005 Mercedes Benz ml500 special edition.
is there anyone that has experience with that car, like reliability & power huh
very sweet for traveling, balanced on the road. It’s a V8, you’ll enjoy that car . It suffered abuse from me but still delivered

I'm on the lookout for catalytic converters, the upstream pair, for W204 M272 engine.
From what I saw on online car parts websites,I gather there are some which though not exactly the 'follow come' but will fit and do the job.
Anybody has an experience or info on this?

Buy and install OEM brand new speed sensor. Your car has 4 week speed sensor and one VSS sensor, so be specific about the speed sensor.

that SUV fits it but you must get ready for fuel ...it's a V8 engine coming from a CRV background and a front wheel...that SUV Is a workhorse and full 4matic (automatic 4 wheel ) no option !

great engine , I drive an ML 320 shaaa...talking from the experience of SUV ,but it is good ! no short measure! use Mobil 1 or any good synthetic oil,the transmission is star oil

.... and you would be glad you did! also the swag! don't forget it ! ...

it's a great engine! V8 engines are more rugged!

scan ...get a scan...check sensors ,transmission sensors, your ABS is faulty, though your brake would work normal but the abs wouldn't! some folks drive it like that ! it pops up in my screen but what I problematic is the transmission ....did you recently service the transmission...if yes, what ATF did you use ? transmission is a bad one I must say

but the abs and the esp is manageable.... the ABS is for fast and immediate braking while the ESP is basically a traction system that helps the car from skidding and keeps the SUV in tract and stable

the most critical thing here is transmission....did you service it ? other two are basically a sensor issue ! did you fix your brakes ? maybe they have fiddled with the ABS sensors on the wheel ....that's why it's popping up! but it will brake well but the critical is transmission

get a scan

..

I love this but it's for older folks ! don't you think so?

I have a feeling that E klasse and S klasse are for older folks ...I don't know why

im actually more of a C class person, I know the E and S class have more tricks and toys but I prefer something more compact. Honestly though, you’ll enjoy this on the highway.

How far that your ML320 , are you still grooving it ?

Still grooving it, never had issues with it ....never opened the engine for years ....apart from front suspension change ...and periodic servicing

Funny enough the fuel consumption ain't that bad bro....

I enjoy the handling, I must confess...next in line is ML350 or GL

Make we dey pray and make oluwa dey bless the hutsle

You might be right, but I see E classes as bogus and a chauffeur driven car...maybe when I get to 50s....I can do it

Though modern ones are a bit compact...I prefer C class or even B class

no. the E Class is far more complete as a Mercedes than the C klasse can ever hope to be

oh yes...I totally agree with you ..Benz comes in large format but the C klasse is for those that don't like being cheuffered.

I admire E klasse and S klasse but that would be when I have a personal driver ... Maybe 50s

I prefer big SUV like GL .....and compact sedans likes C klasse and B klasse

Comparing the E klasse to the C klasse is like comparing a Rolls Royce to a go-kart
