I got this a while ago. Submitted complete online application since April 1st. Got AIP August 6th. Maybe I have to wait a while before deferring to January or may be try the online class option. Anyone else in this boat?

Thank you for choosing to study at Fleming College for the September 2020, Fall intake!

The College has worked tirelessly to ensure robust program delivery in an online format for Fall 2020. Students will achieve the same learning outcomes in this format as they would face-to-face.

To ensure you get off to a great start in your studies this Fall, you will receive your schedule prior to receiving your Approval in Principle (AIP) as we hope that you will have your VISA or AIP by September 15, 2020. To receive your schedule, your must have paid your full fees and not have any outstanding admissions requirements for your program.

If you do not receive your Approval in Principle by September 15, 2020, you will be withdrawn from your program and will be deferred to the next intake of your program.

You must complete the following steps and have paid your full fees by September 15 to remain registered in your program. Failure to complete the following steps by September 15 will result in you being withdrawn from your program.

1. Upload your Approval In Principle (AIP) to your Applicant Profile at OCAS as follows (if you have already completed this step, proceed to step 2):

a Go to Applicant Profile

b Go to Supporting documents (Select Change) (image 1)

c Scroll to Visa Documents and Select Visa Approval Letter (image 2)

d Upload your Approval In Principle (AIP) to Visa Approval Letter (image 3)

2.

Upload a photo of yourself holding a piece of photo ID to your Applicant Profile at OCAS as follows (if you have already completed this step, proceed to step 3):
a Take a clear photo of your face (selfie), while holding a piece of current photo identification (ID). Some examples of acceptable IDs are: Driver’s license, Aadhaar card, or high school or university ID card. Ensure the photo and name on the ID are visible (please do NOT use your passport as ID for this photo). Cover up any personal or sensitive information on the card with your finger (see image cool.

i Go to Applicant Profile

ii Go to Supporting documents (Select Change) (image 1)

iii Scroll to Visa Documents and Select Visa Approval Letter (image 2)

iv Upload your photo to the Visa Approval Letter (image 3) saving the photo using the following format “102XXXXX Photo Confirmation”, where 102XXXXX is your student number

3. Change your OCAS Status from Paid to Pre-Registered state as follows (if you have already completed this step, proceed to step 4):

a Select Offer

b Scroll to Bottom Options and Select Visa Received (Image 4)
c Select to Continue (Image 5)
d Verify your application Status has changed from Paid to Pre-Registered (image 6)

4. Email intlregistration@flemingcollege.ca with the following subject line “Registration steps completed” letting us know that you have completed all the above steps.

It is very important that you complete all four (4) steps as outlined above by September 15, 2020 to ensure that you remain registered in your program for Fall 2020.

Important: When you receive your final VISA approval, you must upload it to your Applicant profile and send an email to intlregistration@flemingcollege.ca. In the future, when travel restrictions change, and you arrive in Canada to complete your program, and obtain your study permit, you must visit the Office of the Registrar with your study permit so that we can finalize your registration with Fleming College.

We wish you every success as you begin your online studies with Fleming College this Fall.

Hi,

I have been reading the thread lately.

I have admission in the University of Regina. I tried to pay the Tuition deposit with the FLYWIRE but the extra charges is very high. I tried contacting the school to pay with my credit card on the phone but they say they are working remotely and Voicemail stated I can make payment at College west room 127.

Please does anyone know a student in University of regina I can use to make this payment from there. I know it kinda risky but knowing a nigerian student who is Regina, Canada will help alot. Thanks

As per the bolded, I strongly suggest you avoid using a third party for payment.

Use form A or flywire (even though the charges are high) to make payment. All the best.

Frank, you shouldn't be making baseless speculations nor spread fears. Not every one that receives AIP would get SP. You're right about that. It's the same as been denied after medical. The question is, how often does that happen to Nigerians, and why? IRCC has made it clear that students do not have to start studying online because AIP does not guarantee SP. So, where is the trick? Let people make their choices instead of scaring them with erroneous speculations.

The Canadain immigration system is not flawless, but it is ridiculous to think IRCC would lure people into paying tuition because of the economy. If the government cares about $22 Billion, they will open the border so students can come, spend money and pay taxes in Canada.

I think the purpose of AIP is to save students from the stress of wasting another year without going to school and allowing schools to provide education to those students. It does not have anything to do with the government trying to save the economy.
You've helped many people on this thread, and it's good that you are thinking. But you're mistaken on this one, and there's no shame in that.

Good luck

Frankrobbn1:

With all due respect Sir, my suggestions are not balderdash and my write-up was never published so it will make sense to you. You're entitled to your opinion and I'm not compelling anyone to believe. I don't know you guys view of Canada and why you can't read between the lines. Do you know that Canada have lost a great deal of revenue during the unforeseen period of COVID-19 pandemic? Do you know that international students weren't able to attend the Spring (May) intake due to the impact of the novel COVID-19 and had to defer their admissions?

FYI:
"International students were named as key drivers in economic and demographic growth, which are important to Canada’s economic recovery and long-term success".

The above facts corroborate that International students are key drivers and contributes over $22 billion annually to the country's economy through the payment of their tuition fees.

The authenticity of this information can be verified via this link :

CANADA IMMIGRATION PLAN FOR FUTURE AFTER CORONAVIRUS.

I still maintain my stance on this particular topic of "AIP letter", as a smart trick employed by IRCC to lure applicants to pay tuition for her economic recovery.

As always, it will end in praise.

From what I see, they are giving you a choice to start in september or defer until January. If you wish to do online studies with AIP, follow the steps. if you don't feel conformatable starting your study with AIP, you can defer your until January. Just let your school know that you wish to defer.

And how will she pay for her application with And without biometrics. At first she used agent now she wants to reapply by her self.

Ysakaws1:
Please who knows if Humber College has PGC programs of 2 years? If yes, please can anyone confirm if 2 years PGC will surely get you 3 years PGWP?

Humber Collège specifies program length in terms of semesters and not years. The credential type (advanced diploma, diploma, Ontario graduate certificate) and program type most times determine the program length or number of semesters

Another thing to note is, a year has maximum of 3 semesters. Some programs can have all 3 semesters in a year, while some could be 2 semesters yearly with 4 months break in between. It depends on the school and program.

So for example, if a program in Humber college is 4 semesters, such program will definitely run for more than a year. If a program is 2 semesters, that program is definitely a 1 year program.

What is your program choice, check for that program on the school website and then you can tell if it is 1 year or 2 years.

With regards to PGWP, IRCC will surely (guaranteed) give you PGWP for at least the length of your program. In most cases, once you go for programs above 1 year in duration, they normally (not guaranteed) give 3 years PGWP.

Please I have heard from some people that getting a study permit approval for a PGC/PGD programs is very difficult, especially if you already have good grades for your undergraduate. ThIs is my case right now, and I’m afraid to apply for the study permits. I have a second class upper in my BSc and I am going for PGC in Humber College. Is it true about it being difficult to get a study permit in situations like this?

This AIP thingy eeh you're on your own ooo, no follow mouth and no follow crowd....No one is paying anyone's tuition here and nobody sabi pass.

BUT FOR ME! i rather defer, get a rejection or approval with my money intact than play 50/50 chances with my AIP when Fanshawe College clearly stated i'm not allowed to start online classes without my SP because they won't refund if for any reason I get denied.

I'm just gonna sit and watch how this AIP thingy unfolds.....Highest if na rejection i have my cash intact na to reapply or stay back in Europe than make person dey tell me eeyah sorry oo.

ConradAce1:

Your approach is good for me.
Don’t be in a hurry for online studies & later get rejected after you have paid your Tuition.
Some schools are already pinning people to pay tuition.
You shall See complains when people start getting refusals & people saying they aren’t getting refunds because they began their classes.

No hating but truth be told most people will go silent when they get denied, only those with approvals will share their timeline.

Thank you. I am starting online too. First class is tomorrow sef. 9pm-11pm. I have subscribed 10gb plans on MTN and GLO. I'm on 4G. I have a laptop with 5 hours+ battery and I can always use the generator if NEPA fails. My phone battery also lasts just in case. My major issue is with the books I may need but my university has a great online library and I can access whatever I need easily.

I am not really afraid for my AIP because I got a medical request too. I just want to do my program and focus on it. I'm going to Canada to study first. Everything is not about PR or PGWP. Yes, I want those too but I want the education more, whether online or not.

But not everyone can afford online classes though. I sympathize with those who have to defer because they cannot afford online lectures or cope with it. All of us will get our TRV soon. Have some faith.

I have come across students with 2:1, masters degree, MBA go for college and get study permits from Nigeria.

I also got 2:1 (very close to first class) and I got into college although my application was from UK. However, in my case, college was the only option I had when I wanted to move.

Is it true that it is very difficult getting study permit in situations as yours? I honestly don't know, but that is the myth surrounding college applications from Nigeria.

The normal advise from gurus on this forum is go for masters if you have a 2:1, most especially if it is a high 2:1. I will advise you stick to what the gurus say.

Hello Spacless,

From the little I know, tell your friend not to be in a hurry to reapply. She should order for her gcms notes to know the reasons for refusal. While at that, she should also wait for VAC in her country of residence to reopen so she can give her biometrics.

After accessing her gcms note, she'll know which area to address before reapplication. By then she won't have to pay for biometrics again as she will fill a questionnaire when reapplying that she has done it before

Normally its 150cad for visa +85 cad for biometrics totalling 235cad.

She's most likely paying 150cad this time around

Thanks for this; nawa for all these monikers just making one unnecessarily worried. Saw a few pages behind that online classes won't count towards EE but would count only towards PGWP. Been wondering since then about the practicality of this only to see your post.

Please please please let us make sure whatever we post is authentic and genuine information as you never know who is digesting the information. And let everyone also go the extra mile to research into the veracity of whatever we read on here rather than just running along with it and applying it blindly to our application.

Many persons derive pleasure in casting their gloom or negativity on others. You must arm yourself with a mental shield if you don't want to kill yourself over uncontrollable factors. As far as the current situation is concerned, NO ONE ON THIS THREAD or even OFFLINE can say anything with certainty. What we are experiencing is unprecedented. Not even the best immigration experts can advise properly because there is no basis for such an advice. We are only left with our intuition and communication. We must learn to filter the things we hear except we are 100% certain of them or we just want to "move along with it".

Hello People,

I applied for study permit since Aug 4th,
Got biometric request Aug 5th
Did the biometric on 12th Aug.

Surprisingly, my profile still reads "Your attention is required" till date. However, I can see from applicant details section that I have biometric number as well as the expiry date. I am a bit confused, the system sees I have biometric info but is still waiting.

I have submitted the web form under technical error. I got a donotreply email yesterday with the summary of my escalation but no changes yet. This thing is worrying me oh. I applied from Istanbul.

Thanks for your contributions in advance.
