I have seen someone that had First Class in 100 and 200 level, and finally graduated with 2-2 after four years.

Crazy school.

na God save me. They turned my 4.73 CGPA to 4.44 in 400 level.
They demolished it with cutlass.

I prayed like a mad prophet, read very hard and followed up all my exams with the lecturers before I could escape with 4.60 as final grade in 500 level.

Your supposed academic effort in UNIBEN which isn't tandem with your output is normal for most public Nigerian universities. I remember writing a course in 400l, engineering then in UNIBEN that having a C is equivalent to having an A in joy, whereas carry over is the order of the day. 2,1 is like water these days, even first class. BSc is like a primary school certificate everyone now has, masters or masters(in view) soon would be the new minimum criteria with the way recruiters are going. Results shouldn't define you, even though it's a platform to give you an opportunity to be aired and prove your skills, what your intelligence is loaded with is the key. Many graduates aren't even doing what they read from school, some went to different fields, some are into businesses and doing well. So your grade shouldn't define your altitude. My HOD in school had a third class and he's a consultant to an oil firm prior to my graduation, so why the low morale? Map out your plans and set your priorities.

God bless you for this observation. I can confirm this too. I am also a graduate of the Great UNIBEN. Truly, virtually every lecturers in UNIBEN aren't friendly and accommodating with his/her students. There is no lecturer/student relationship. I noticed this here in UI as I am running my Msc program. Virtually every UI lecturers are friendly and accommodating to both their undergraduates/postgraduates students. Infact it's like the opposite of UNIBEN. Although, I will forever be grateful to this great citadel of learning; UNIBEN. UNIBEN makes every student to be independent. You got study hard like your whole life depends on it... Not just study hard.. but be smart about it. It does workout if you want to come out the best in your class. One thing I detest most about some of UNIBEN lecturers is that they hardly give room for one-on-one interaction, for you to learn ideas or they been a mentor to you. All man for himself. You got to be independent.

Had my worst academic life there. No good memories of the place. Don't like remembering it. Lecturers were like demons. Well I left the country and experienced what real education was.

Hmmm,uniben that year...years back ,I was an engineering student... It wasn't an easy thing despite being a serious student all the way...My friend in maths faced a lot!,many years after before he could graduate, I am a first class student to everyone seeing my quality outside oo, but the school just do anyhow.

Each universities has it's own way of adding sorrows to student but come to think of it, at times we the student create this problem for ourselves. Lecturers like copy and paste, give me what i gave you and your grade is sure like barca 2odd. Everything changed when i started biz in year 2 and skipped some academic activities thinking i need money for bla bla and ended in 2.2 after yr2. I vowed to stay off biz but how will i survive in campus if my parent had struggled to pay my fees, they don't even have money for 3k compulsory testbook, materials and photocopy exempted. i cant even pay dept n fac dues approx 5k, this session. Mehn pover-tea is a disease, i know i'm better than average but some life conditions still tryna pull me down. This year 3, no business of any kind. Let garri heal my stomache as i will sit up to improve my grades, let the fees be hanging cus i will clear em later. I believe there is more to life than what i'm going through. I thank GOD for everthing, i'm a winner man

Thought I was actually intelligent untill my final year one stupid lecturer decided to fail me in all her courses.
She was handling about three to courses then cause we lost one of our lecturer that was taking us on two out of the four courses so there was no one to handle the courses , she decided to take it up since she is a professor.
Na so this witch just finished my career just because we had a little misunderstanding . Somebody that I never had D in her course before all of a sudden I failed the four courses in my final year just like that .
I actually thought that that was the end of me .
It pains me so dearly cause i so much love this lecturer in particular , if anyone had told me early that my failure will come from her I wouldn't have believed .
Each and every day I pray that i forget and forgive and move on too.

so true! Night class was like normal routine class. If you don't go for night class for one day, it will look as if you lost something precious out of your body. UNIBEN! Hmm... Thank you for all the stress. It does worth it.

It's like that everywhere buddy. Each school is different and so you must experience that culture shock when you enroll into another school different from your undergraduate school.

UI students will not find it easy doing masters in Uniben as well like someone who graduated from Uniben.

When I first enrolled into masters at Unilag, first semester results weren't great but I quickly got use to their teaching and exam patterns and my lowest grade in the second semester was a B.

UI masters stressful pass my undergraduate in unilorin(as stressful as that was).

Attendance was done like in secondary school where they call your name and you have to answer. Had couple of guys who missed exams because the didn't meet the attendance quota (70%) and carried over the courses.

The materials nko, nah die. Bulky. The lecturers?
It's as if we were their sworn enemies.

But las las, all was just stress. Meaningful, impactful, brain building education was not impacted in my opinion. I made PhD grade by just residual knowledge and quick brush up a night before. Didn't burst my hump or task my brain. The only gain was my degree.

See ehn when I first made up my mind was when in 200lvl MEE211 I got an F while CVE211 with similar course material I got A I just rest from there everything is not by jacking abeg I just focused on other parts of my life if I get money I go do another degree for jand no be me uniben go kill

I had this course mate who hit 5.0 in first year and 4.8 in second year.. This guy managed to graduate with something a little above 3.5 . This was a student they already promised to retain as a staff right from year one lol, Uniben is crazy....

Now, it's harder considering higher classes been churned out now in excess. One of my lecturers then use to tell us to aim at first class and if we fail to, we should try our best to not fall below 2.1. My then HOD, to even make matter worse told us of his struggles that he drove truck in a foreign land to even survive when he traveled out to make ends meet despite with his degree, but he did not waste time acquiring a masters, and you know government lecturing jobs from time immemorial mostly comes with man know man, and there are slots but just have the grades that whoever wants to help you can be boastful of.
