I hope he thought through his actions and ready to bear the consequences. Whatever made him change it to his mother's first name must be 'worth it' to him. Modified: He changed his surname to his mother's first name because he is a feminist?  Signs. It is a pity it flies over his head: You changed your surname from your father's family name (to fight 'male superiority') to your mother's first name (to establish 'female superiority').
