That's the mentality of failures that you have. You're studying computer engineering but you don't see anything promising in the vast world of networking, hardware, software engineering, cyber security, web development, mobile development, robotics, etc etc, if nothing feels promising for you here then you have bigger problems.

The earlier you figure out the career you really want to spend your life doing, the better for you. Don't worry about whether people are making it big in that field, once you are sure it is meant for you, go after it with all your strength and zeal.

Start learning new skills - thanks to the internet, information is available

If you don't keep learning, You'd become obsolete.

Start looking for a business you can start for yourself - schools teach you how to learn, you need to read on how to earn by yoursel.

Read good books - fiction and non-fiction. Infact go and buy The subtle art of not giving a Bleep and start there.

Develop good habits and keep the right circle of friends. Always make sure you are happy.

Two things:
1. Education: Go to school, try your best. The idea of going to school should not be to have 1st class but learning how to learn on your own.
2. How to make money: I am 28 now..and I just realized that;
a) Having money and being rich are two different things
b) Having a good grade in school (which I did), having a job of say 300k in Nigeria will not make you rich. You would money or just be comfortable at best. making money is a whole different ball game.
If you have some disposable money, try investing in stocks, bonds, or maybe start a business. Trust me you need both.

For a country like USA, there is platform called investopedia that gives information on stocks and bonds. Is there any such platform that gives information on stock and bonds in Nigeria? Thanks

Here you go again. The mentality of someone who is on the path to fail. See the lecturers you see are very outdated people and they can't help you apart from writing your B.Eng for you. To succeed however, you need more than that B.Eng or you end up like millions of Nigerian youths out there. Look beyond those lectures and take special interests in a particular field where you can task yourself to become the best.

Lecturers and what they're saying are for mediocres as long as Nigerian universities are concerned. For people who want to stay average. You can assimilate all those things and become best graduating student in ur class but that doesn't mean the sky is your limit. For the sky to be your limit you have to be a bad ass. You have to be a guru and an expert.

Learn any technology skills.

Secondly I would advice you don't take the popular road trust me its crowded. Take the unpaved road for in there lies the treasure you seek, but mind you the way is rough. It takes only the brave to overcome it.

Well done.
From experience, I would say

1. Patience: Learn how to delay gratification. This is needed at all ages, as lack of it has killed many dreams. Enjoyment must never be ignored, but you must learn how to limit enjoyment to time for enjoyment.
2. Networking: Grow your network of genuinely loved friends and colleagues. People always know someone who really likes them and someone who is just looking for friends for himself and his future.
3. Understand the difference between asset and liability. Assets bring money, liabilities consume money.
4. Aquire a skill: Choose and develop a skill that you love. Instead of just having a certificate, what can you do? Repairing phone? writing article? Project management? Etc. Just be known for something, something that you genuinely love. And never stop learning more about it.
5. Be real: Always be true to yourself. The one person you should never try to deceive is yourself. Always accept and work with the truth about you.
6. No brooding over mistakes or losses. Learn and move one. There is always something to learn from every experience.

Cos I've been in your shoes and I had to study and find the real spine of your question.


1. Find something you can buy at a cheaper price and sell at a higher or slightly higher price. I can't explain more but there is either a time difference between the time of purchase and sale or the location.
Sort this out by yourself. So basically you need money to make money.

2. You must be smart and constantly evolving with the factors around you.

In making money, you must not stick to let's say shoe sales, you can always jump to food or gadgets. The only thing you need is for the stars to align and only smart people will notice this.

You can also sell your skill but wise people will hire others to do that and eat the lion share. Note that selling your skill alone is a slow journey in most cases.

Listen to advice but strategize and find your place. Nobody will give you nothing. I've read so many books and found out that luck is something you need. Get it by all means.

What is luck?
When the stars align for you at a time you are prepared. So stay prepared. If possible save capital from today for a business you have no idea about. One day the idea will come and you will be lucky.

So technically luck only exists when you are prepared.

Learn a high income skill that you can use to offer freelance services to companies in North America and Europe (either in full-time, part-time or freelance basis) while living here in Nigeria.

You will earn in dollars, euros or pounds and improve your life.

I will give you three set of skills you can learn depending on how quickly you can make money off them.

1. Copywriting.

You can start making money from this in as little as a week after you've learned the ropes.

2. Graphics designing, photo editing and video editing

Learn Adobe packages (Premiere Pro, PhotoShop, Illustrator, After Effects) and CorelDraw). They all go hand-in-hand.

However, they take more time and resources to learn than copywriting.

3. Coding

Coding is very lucrative but it takes time to learn and perfect. You may need to learn for up a year or two before you start making money.

Python language is hot right now and is possibly the most used language out there.

Just be focused and stay away from women from now. Your future self will thank you.


I advised you to go for "service" skills instead of "handwork" skills (e.g: mechanic, plumber, electrician, barber, tailor, forklift driver, etc.) because you'll need to leave Nigeria to make it in those careers.

And we all know how difficult it is to leave this country.
