1. Oba of Benin
Some say that the Oba of Benin, or Omo N’Oba, is the highest traditional ruler in Nigeria as he wields influence over the Edo people and is a popular figure in Nigeria. He heads the historic Eweka dynasty of the Great Benin Empire. It is also said that the Yorubas in Nigeria descended from the Benin people, hence the tittle Oba is being used to mean a king. The title of Oba was first created by Oba Eweka I, Benin Empire’s first ‘Oba’, who ascended power between 1180 and 1300. He is the second in line in the ranking of Yoruba monarchs in Nigeria, Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III was born 15 August 1938 and he is the current Alaafin, or traditional ruler, of the Yoruba state of Oyo and righful heir to the throne of its historic empire. His dynasty dates back to the old Oyo empire which recognizes him as the emperor of the Oyo empire. He is among the list of the richest Yoruba king in Nigeria

It was formed around the fifteenth century. According to legend, its ruling dynasty was founded by Obanta of Ile-Ife. The current Awujale of Ijebuland is Sikiru Kayode Adetona.

Well, only due to politics will they even rank Ooni higher than Alaafin. In terms of influence on Yoruba language, culture and influence and Yoruba as seen today. Oyo has been numero uno for 350 years in Yorubaland. A time when record keeping had become easier.

Around 250 years after Benin became an empire, Oyo became the only Yoruba nation that rose to earn the mutual respect of Benin. Both even agreeing to Otun-Ekiti treaty later.

Awujale throne is way ahead of Alake. Both in age and historical influence. One of the most noble and self respecting royal stools in Yorubaland.

You never hear an Awujale making unguarded and ridiculous statements like several Alakes have done to seek attention. Educational advantage benefitted Egbaland to produce many political and economic leaders. Boosting Alake too.

Olowo of Owo should get a mention. Being close to expanding Benin and retaining de facto independence despite conquest shows a high level of diplomatic skills and as gateway to Yorubaland.

Owo is perceived by other Yoruba as being too Edo influenced and is often left out. Yet it produced Chief Michael Ajasin, the architect of Acton Group free education that Yoruba use to claim over educated and over sophisticated today.

Action Group was even launched at Olowo Palace courtesy of Chief Ajasin and HRM Olowo Sir Olateru-Olagbegi II.

Like Owo, Yoruba people despise Eleko's proud Benin heritage even more. So they often call him a landless Oba. Yet the stool is approaching 500 years now. Lagos is the jewel of SW.

Lagos made most of the Yoruba people you see today. Be it as a business or political base.

Oromiyan came into benin history when ooni and Alafin were having their supiority issue after 1920

The earliest benin ife myth started as i quote

Eweka had come from ife and displaced the edo people and anyone he found weak he wared with anyone he found strong he made a truce with. This was a quote from 1903

which was not involving oromiyan, but after years when the alafin had some issues with ooni, inother for the ooni to settle alafin of oyo after his forceful removal as the chairman of chief of council in then former western region,

Dont mind the mugu rating ooni who was a native doctor in ife, to alafin who ruled an empire , this is one reason they need the benin history to survive because they cant get their fact right


When alafin was made the chairman of western chiefs councils the other yorub monarchs revolvated because they feared alafin rankings on them, but they supported the fraudulent ooni ife conspiracy which says they are all sons of oduduwa, because with ooni narrative no one will be ranked but all of them will be seen as equals

Last last they were still ranked, they fell for it,

When alafin saw he had lost his support he settled for second displacing the oba of benin who was initially second to third, but the oba of benin didnt even complained because the position he was given even tho he didnt speak yoruba made him glad

When alafin was made the chairman of western chiefs councils the other yorub monarchs revolvated because they feared alafin rankings on them, but they supported the fraudulent ooni ife conspiracy which says they are all sons of oduduwa, because with ooni narrative no one will be ranked but all of them will be seen as equals

Last last they were still ranked, they fell for it,

When alafin saw he had lost his support he settled for second displacing the oba of benin who was initially second to third, but the oba of benin didnt even complained because the position he was given even tho he didnt speak yoruba made him glad
At the time EWEKA II had little choice. In fact it was his doggedness and tenacity that made restoration of monarchy possible. He had to learn diplomacy very quickly without the benefit of a father in the Palace to learn from or Western education.

But Oba Akenzua's education at King's College Lagos and knowledge of Yoruba language prepared him for the battle with Yoruba that was to come. He must have been incensed by claims of Yoruba supremacy right from college days.

Therefore he got his way leading Midwest out of Western Region.

As smart as Oba EWEKA II was, he must have foreseen a time that Edo and Delta would again be on its own. Maybe not as two states today but still.

Oba Erediauwa had even more access to the knowledge of SW ways working as Perm Sec of Cabinet Office in Lagos in Gowon regime, ministry of health and others before that.

The current Oba has synthensized all the above along with foreign diplomatic service. We are even in a better place now.

Oromiyan came into benin history when ooni and Alafin were having their supiority issue after 1920

The earliest benin ife myth started as i quote

Eweka had come from ife and displaced the edo people and anyone he found weak he wared with anyone he found strong he made a truce with. This was a quote from 1903

which was not involving oromiyan, but after years when the alafin had some issues with ooni, inother for the ooni to settle alafin of oyo after his forceful removal as the chairman of chief of council in then former western region,
Then benin-ife myth which was only involving ife, benin, eweka became modified to accompany the alafins this time

The quote was oromiyan who is alafin Ancestor conquered and ventured into benin and begot eweka

So when you are making silly statements becareful not to misinform people

Read and assimilate you fool, i told you how oromiyan came into the story, you should use head to know that,

In the first myth which was not regarding oromiyan it means that eweka11 was a direct son of oduduwa, the arrival of alafin into the myth made him Oronmiyan son


The very first ancient myth from the yorubas was
Oduduwa gave birth to all the yoruba tribes which included benin, which formed the present state the yoruba people occupy in nigeria, this myth was told to avoid anyform of royal hierarchy between yoruba king
