Even if I accept your price as an accurate reflection of current realities, your argument still doesn’t make sense because mambilla is a hydro dam project and Egbin is a gas powered project. How many of the gas powered plant that Obasanjo and Jonathan build are operating today?

In case you don’t know, it’s extremely silly for any country to rely on a single source of power generation. Most countries have a basket of power generating options that include hydro, solar, gas, coal and nuclear plant. Nigeria adopted a similar policy under Fashola.

So you see, saying we should keep building only gas plant that get shut down by inadequate gas supply or even outright pipeline explosion or bombing makes no sense. We must develop all available options. Hydro dam are even far more reliable than the gas plants.

a: the cost of building a 1100Mw power plant is $500 million .

b:the argument that a primary resource dependent Nation such as Nigeria should indebt itself to a turn of $6 billion is total chaotic thinking.when for less than ⅓ the amount you can get more value.also your Nation already has an installed capacity of more than 12000MW (it is more sustainable to put more to activate the 12000Mw to come online than to indebt your country to build a plant then look for money again to bring it online)

The National Assembly some months ago approved the request of the executive to raise a loan of $22billion for some major projects. The coastal railway is part of the projects that will be funded once the loan is secured. Approval for the project has been given already. What is left is for FG and the Chinese government to fine tune the loan agreement and start construction. The project may even start before this one.

The projects are fully funded by the construction campanies, how they get the money to execute the projects is non of FGN business, this is done to avoid abandonments and embezzlements from whoever succeeds this current government.
The revenue generated from those project will be use to pay the debts on a long term base,
Lets see how whoever succeeds buhari manage that.

Use your head. There are several contracts signed to build our railways across the nation. This is just the newest contract awarded. It doesn't mean construction starts tomorrow or next week there, before the other lines that have been awarded previously, like the East - West coastal line and Port-Harcourt-Maiduguri line etc etc.
