Yes, I just made the correction. Thanks. You are right, I got confirmation from the VFS on my way home from the biometric centre.

fratermathy:

What you got was BCL, not BVL.

BVL comes much later, usually a day or some hours before you get a final decision.

Hello Nairalander,

About two hours ago I received a correspondence letter from IRCC on the Validity of my Biolmetrics, (BVL) I guess this is automatic refusal as earlier state in the thread.

I applied on the 6th of August, 2020, I did my Biometrics on the 31st of August. 2020.
No medical request
No AIP

I am so sad I cried for a few minutes and stopped cry cry

Anyways I was about to order my GCMS note but PHCN has disappointed as usual. Raining heavily here.

Please confirm if the Consent form for GCMS NOTE Is the ATIP CONSENT FOR IMM15744.

it is the right form. I guess u wanted to type " IMM 5744"

Please I need someone to help me out with an SOP that has got approval.

I think I was rejected because I did not convey clearly my intentions(I thought I did). every other thing looked solid, I want to reapply by December.

I don't intend to plagiarize, just need something to compare with to know where my gaps could have been.

or alternatively if the someone with experience in the house is willing to review my SOP I would appreciate

Sponsor’s letter
Bank reference letter
School statement of result (as certificate is not ready yet)
Transcript

Thanks for the feedback Frank, kindly find submitted documents below:
Client Info : Birth Cert, Family Passports and Marriage Certificate {Married with 2 children}, Family photos, Education Plan Insurance for my 2 children, School certificates{graduated in 2008 - Business Admin & Magt}, Resume & Professional Certs, Tax card, Employment and promotion letters {been working since graduation for 12 years}, Relocation letter, Wifey's Letter of introduction from work, Family birth certs, Police character Cert, S.O.P, Life Insurance Plan, etc.

POF : My 6 months Payslip and Statement of accounts {using the authorization ticket from GTB}, Pension statement till date, My House Insurance Certificate worth #21.8m with rental incomes, 2 Landed properties with documentation and cost evaluation, School's scholarship letter and grants {The Award letter was uploaded through CSE and was recently added on my profile as seen on the GCMS notes, Employer letter of introduction stating my study leave approval, Cooperative account statement of #6.5m, My business C.O.I, Mutual Fund investment letter of #8m plus, Payment receipts of CAD16k {school first year is CAD16,858k}. Wifey statement of account, etc.

I also got a new LOA to resume October 2020 online yesterday, i have since uploaded to CSE and also sent to them through email and also enquire why there was no VO's note on my GCMS...hope that is not out of place?

I intend to still register for my classes online and continue my studies, its always going to get beta.

Thanks bro for the input, will keep you updated.

I don't see it reasonable enough to begin studies online when you failed the ELIGIBILITY assessment for a study permit. The documents you've sent thus far via CSE is sufficient to demonstrate your current personal circumstance. I will strongly advice that you should hold unto your plans of starting studies soon until you receive a response that you've passed your ELIGIBILITY (though on a rare occasion would such happen).

This is my honest advise for you! Nonetheless, the decision is yours to make.

It will end in praise.

Hi guys!

I studied B.Sc Electrical Engineering at my undergraduate level, I want to apply for M.Eng Electrical Engineering in Newfoundland University.

Please is it possible to apply for M.Eng course with B.Sc certificate. Thanks
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Chocs(f): 8:56am On Sep 24, 2020
Hello, since you know the school and program you want, you can visit the program’s website and check for the admission requirements. I did that, this is what I saw “Graduate diploma, MASc, MEng – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class or ‘B’ standing) in an appropriate area of study“
So your B.Sc should be good. Please visit the program’s website and familiarize yourself with every info on it. All the best

goodevening house ,

i wish everyone a successful new week on this journey .
i have been getting lots of pms and i would like to drop this here for everyone.

Please OWN your study permit application process, sop , everything yourself because no one can sell you better than you can sell yourself. yes get tips and suggestions on what to do but ultimately do what you decide to do you are responsible for the outcome.

i had a lot of conflicting information and contrary advise but i stuck to my guns, paid my fees and started classes , i kept sending them web forms and emails with documents i knew i had uploaded. i sent my medical and it was updated the next day even though i had submitted all two weeks prior, before eligibility review started i sent course enrollment and tuition fees payment to add, next day my eligibility review started. then i sent ielts that i didn’t need to, i was sending them email two times a week monday and thursday. early hours of the morning with title: URGENT ATTENTION .

note that it may not work for everyone oooh. but my application was already 3 weeks and i wanted answers in time to resume fall.

please don’t let anyone discourage you at all. you can do it. i am looking forward to sharing my gcms notes with you all.

documents i submitted

Admission letter from University of Ottawa
medicals upfront
personal and company bank statement since i run my own business
vac documents for my business
cute family photos of me hubby and baby
transcripts and certificates undergraduate
first masters degree transcript (australian uni)
marriage certificate
passport with valid usa and canada visa
payment receipts for hospital and accomodation when i visited last year (had baby via emergency)
very long sop (6 pages with sub headings and sections for each point i wanted to address) use your discretion

i addressed clearly why i want to do a second masters in Canada and also why i have an active express entry profile because of the dual intent rules. i quotes it for them sef i think.

i appreciate all those who keep this thread going and whose words of wisdom helps us. God will surely come through for all those waiting. keep the faith alive

Thank you so much for sharing, this is a lot of very useful information.

Please could you help throw more light on your reason for having an active express entry profile. I also have one with a CRS of 457. I didn't even know it was an issue untill now. embarassed embarassed embarassed

You are quite correct. To provide a bit of context. I applied in May and the elligibiity review was done a month later in June. So, from June to September no update reflected online via the ircc portal besides biometric done in August and medicals(Upfront) done in August. I hope they still give out approvals to everyone still waiting for approvals in the gcms notes. I am only saying its quite likely it might not be the case.

Timeline

Applied on 15th May
Biometric letter 16th May
Upfront medical 1st August
Send webform to update on deferment from Fall to Winter semester due to processing delays August
Biometric enrolment 24th August (Updated same day online)
Medical passed 27th August (after sending same via webform and email some weeks earlier)
Requested gcms notes on 1st September
received gcms notes on 23rd September (note that eligibility failed as at 10th June as that was when the entry was made in the gcms notes)

Documents

B.Eng Degree Cert with 2-1
Intro letter from the office indicating position, gross salary etc
Land docs in lagos and another state
Tenancy docs in current abode
Police certificate
LOA from school for MBA program along with other documents
Payment of 1,000 CAD tution deposit evidenced by official receipt from school
Professional certification certificates
1 year Bank Statement with balance of 1.2m (inflow of 12m and outflow of 11m within 6 month period)
6 month pay slip with more than 1m monthly pay
Mutual Fund dollar statement signed and stamped with balance of 10,000 USD
Mutual Fund naira statement signed and stamped with balance of 19,000,000 NGN
Passport and Visa pages with valid UK visa at the time
Confirmation letter from the office
Salary review letter
Children's birth certificates
Marriage certificate
Letter of explanation/SOP detailing why I chose the program, Canada, short and long term career goals and how this fits in, family ties etc
NYSC Certificate
IELTS Results
WAEC Result
First Degree Transcripts

As Frank would say, "It will end in praise"

A Beautiful profile, i dont understand, what did your GCMS notes say that was lacking? Hmmmmm

Please how can I know courses that are research based?

I'm applying for M.Eng Electrical Engineering at Newfoundland university, I don't know if its research based. I tried finding on the school website but Thesis based is written for Electrical Engineering.

My question: is thesis based the same as research based and is M.Eng Electrical Engineering research based.

Biometrics verification letter. It shows that your biometrics is valid for 10years.

Usually, when you received this letter, a final decision on your application is on its way.

For Engineering courses, Meng is always course based while Masc or Msc is for research based masters.

Sure you and i haven't gotten the same sister?? LOL.
Well, applied on my sister's behalf who got a B.A in Linguistics and has been working for about 4 years now, owns land property and got straight refusal.
Awaiting the GCSM notes but i began seeing some blunders when i had already submitted the application but said ''Man na Man''
She had a third class so couldn't go in for a MSC and we decided to switch to a Diploma in Journalism since they are two correlated fields and was well elucidated on her LOE and how it would impact her, career progression but all went in vein.

Go for a progression. Can't have a B.A and go for a Diploma please. How old is she ??
There is no formular in sponsorship but makes sure it's either Mum or Dad or a study loan (best preferred).
If it's a third party (Uncle, in law...) have the money transferred to her account and get a LOS from them.
Hope we can work together, i do plan to appeal for her
Thanks.

Ddgirl05:
Wow, congrats.

My sis also wants to apply for an early childhood diploma offered by Bow valley college, although her BA is in linguistics. But she's been teaching for 4 years. Posts from here have advised against Diplomas due to past cases but your story is giving us hope. Thanks for sharing

You can email MUN Admissions Coordinator or your department's international liaison office to confirm this.

In Memorial University Engineering Masters program, MEng is a thesis based degree(research) while MASc is a course based degree. This is in contrast to most of the other DLIs.

If you are going for a research based degree, I will advice you, based on my personal experience with them, not to apply if you don't receive a go-ahead or positive response from a supervisor, even though they mentioned that you don't need to get a supervisor to apply.

The school website can be a bit tricky to navigate, make sure you're getting the right information, that's why I advice you contact your department for more information.

Goodluck!

Good morning guys, i hope you are doing fine.
Although i have been following this thread hourly for about a month, i joined nairaland just a few minutes ago.
First of all, i would like to commend the selflessness of many of you that take it in your stride to help newbies with their application. Infact, if i had joined nairaland before applying, i can imagine how much more i would had learned.

What nudged me to comment is a combo of a few things and i will relate them to my application:

1)The issue of luck: Albeit trained, these visa officers are humans whose moods could flip at anytime and ascribe different amounts of weight to the same item in peoples's applications. If not for this thread, i wouldnt had known how difficult or tight canadian visa was. This is because spending two years studying abroad during undergrad in Eastern Europe came quite easy as regards getting a visa. Seeing the gigantic profiles of some people actually made me to think whether mine would even be considered at all. However we choose to look at it, luck plays a role when the v.o's discretion is all that's left to make a decision

2) The issue of announcements: I applied on the first of August and even my POF was combined by someone on this thread that got admitted alongside me for the same course in the same school. It seemed like rocket science how she did it though. Infact, she helped me to register for biometrics and we did biometrics on the same day just minutes apart. This lady gave out the same thing i put out. She has a scholarship and money in her account. She has proven home ties and a great job. On the 2nd of September, i got a medical request and she was the first person i told. I decided not to post it on the group because most people that do it do so to announce their arrival. Since my application procedure wasnt gotten from this thread, i felt it would be hypocritical if an announcement is the only thing i would do. You would notice that immediately after getting congratulations, they would go mute. This doesnt speak well because giving practical details of how and what you submitted is the least you could give back when something positive comes out of what you post on this thread.

3) The issue of God: I dont know why we Nigerians like to infuse hypocrisy in our opinions. This group is strictly for practical details and advice on how best to apply for a study permit. The lady that helped me register for biometrics and compile my POF is more God fearing, more religious and more helpful than i am. I got my AIP on the 4th of September but she hasnt even gotten a medical request. If i come out and start with " It can only be God or i told God to make his angels descend and exhaust the v.o and not have time for any other application till he approves mine', what impression am i trying to create? Am i saying God decided to help me and not help other applicants despite them having stronger documents and even more prayer prayer points? What if someone else starts with "It can only be Sango or Amadioha?'.Would that not so divide us? The spiritual attribution to your success should be kept as personally as you can or else some people who were refused would begin to think all they need is more prayers. Overly ascribing your success to prayers when others have failed even when they put in more than you only implies that you are mocking them indirectly. God did it for you? Okay keep it to yourself. Give us details and share your experience. There are other threads on nairaland for spiritual testimonies.

I hope my post doesnt get misunderstood. It's quite tough to be on the waiting list for months and even i am not fully gone. Let's keep being supportive and realistic at the same time. I really wish everyone the best

It will end in praise

That point 3 is the main. I decided to keep mute when everybody started attributing faith, soso prayers and all to the approvals as we who are yet to get AIP don't pray too or have faith. Let us continue to share profiles and gcms notes and help each other realistically and not start atttributing the excessive spiritual issues to our casue.
It will end in praise.
