Well it may seems Normal to u. But what u just did is the hight of poor reasoning I ever hear.

Please Madam, better note it now... Your destiny helper is a human being not a spirit, so taking ur children away from rich people is not sensible because you are destroying the friendship they are ment to build in other to help each other tomorrow.

Remember the Impact of what u are doing now remains in there friends memory, so if they are to help ur child, they would still say her mother wouldn't want it.

Now you can not buy the PS 4 and you can't allow her enjoy from the rich.. Biko will you be poor and be witch?

Poverty Ntooorrr

The right to say no.
The choice of acceptance or rejection.

Irrespective of status and need, if anybody gives my child an inappropriate gift ( I determine what is appropriate for my child) I will send it back to that person immediately. It has nothing to do with affordability of the gift. In this case I agree with the OP that the gift was inappropriate and should be sent back
Re: School Birthday Will Make Your Child Greedy by slex(m): 12:07am On Sep 25, 2020
Its your child and you have every right to decide what may be best for her but, in my own opinion your move may create regret or dislike from your child.

E.g,

Your hold grows older and visits a friend, friend has Ps5 ,your child would just keep feeling left out.

A question;

If your child was gifted a scholarship or someone offered to sponsor her tertiary education , would you reject because of "fingers are not equal?"

Please schools should stop celebrating birthdays in school, please, biko. I use God beg you.

I sent my child to school to learn and not to celebrate birthdays, I came back from work one day and saw this play station 4 in a carton, I asked them who own. they said my daughter classmates celebrated her birthday and shared these gift to them.

I quickly ask them to reparkage the gift and take it back to the school, before I return from work the next day.

MY REASON IS THIS: all fingers are not equal, when it is my daughter's birthday they would be expecting a gift of equal amount.

The parent may be rich and I am not, they give my child what I can't afford for her which is a recipe for greed. she should be contented with what I can afford,

These her young mind should be moulded early to adapt to reality.

These private schools are encouraging these evil act, it may affect the child tommorow.

You did well. The bible says contentment is great gain. A girl child in Nigeria must be taught to be content and turn a blind eye to expensive gifts. The earlier you start, the better. I ain't raising no oloshos in my home.

You took a very selfish and silly decision by returning the ps4 you didn't consider your child's feelings there's nothing wrong with having a PS4.

Well, returning the gift, I don't think was ideal. Parking and keeping it in your house and not letting your daughter use so she would not deviate from her studies while waiting for God's directives would be more ideal. the gift itself was as well, not I deal a dozen of exercise book would be more ideal.
ideal ideal not ideal ideal not ideal not ideal ideal.

First of all a ps4 for birthday gift shocked damn that's some rich parents.

... @Sebastine1994 your act was full of grudge. You could have simply kept the gift and made your kids earn it.
The wrong thing to say is "all fingers are not equal", I don't understand how that equates to anything. Let your kids know these flashy pricey things won't always come easy.

You are just growing enemies for your kids and yourself. It's uncalled for

It takes one stupid boy to erase every upbringing given to a girl child.
I have seen girls from rich background just love to hustle on the streets.
But for now as kids, they should enjoy their childhood abeg.

Implications you say? I would love to know.
But if the parent bought the gift for the child themselves, NO implications right?

(Dude just make the child understand that's an expensive and no ordinary easy gift, make them earn it, keep it and see them work hard to earn it.)

Re: School Birthday Will Make Your Child Greedy by jelel6: 4:09am On Sep 25, 2020
There's almost no hope for this our society. Monetary value is the first thing most commenters here are likely to base their decision to keep or not keep such gift. What a shame.

Gifts are what they are but they MUST BE APPROPRIATE. Most especially for kids who are still in primary school. A playstation is never an appropriate gift for children at that age. Then the expensive monetary value of it doesn't teach them financial discipline and responsibility.

Nigerians have a problem with living within their means and contentment. That's why anything and everything that brings money is OKAY.

For those shouting 'poverty mentality', If you decide to collect expensive gifts without discretion, that doesn't make you any richer. It only means that you have something in your possession that you may 'want' but don't 'need'. And probably can't maintain.

Parents gifting primary school kids playstation 4, that's like telling them they'll stumble upon wealth in High school.

NaijaCr7:
Poverty mentality mixed with inferiority complex

It's a gift and am sure it would have been what the child (celebrant) wished for.. I am sure no inscription on the box reads you must Payback with similar gesture.

Why don't u stop breathing because you think u can't pay God what it worth.

You go your friend party he serve you rice and chicken shey that one mean say u no go invite am come yours cos na rice Nd fish u fit afford.

And for those Mofos saying PS4 is counter productive, you need to do more research. Gaming helps develop mental reasoning and decision making, the only bad side is addiction, and we all know addiction to any thing is likely dangerous.

Modified.
L[b]et's assume the father of the celebrant gets to know about such act from the child's father, in the future when such child need his connection to get something am sure he might be skeptical offering a hand....when you can afford a school where your child can mix with the influential what you teach them is power of humility, sharing and contentment. You don't create enemies for them because of perceived competition
nigerians are very hypocritical in nature, if it was a job offer the parent of that child offered him now he will jump out of the window just to grab it.such gifts are not shared in goverment schools, which means you can afford the school fees.so do well to remove your child and take her to a goverment school where your lots are.but for the game box pls dm me my child needs it.
