My certificates have become useless. I graduated in 2008, passed out of NYSC in 2010. Till date I have not used my certificates for anything. What I am regretting in my life now is time I wasted in the university. My wife graduated in 2015, she is now learning tailoring because she couldn't get a job too.

Tear them or.
You are a product of a terrible teacher
Go to any school and ask the students to identify the subject they dislike most. Many of them will chorus “mathematics”. What makes student harbour a passionate hatred for this subject still remains a mystery for most educationist  .

. Many reasons have been proposed . One which seems to be overlooked is the fact that students do not feel connected to the subject in anyway  . Imagine spending hours finding ” x” when “x” is neither your brother or your sister only to search for “x the following day. It is not only routinal but boring. The student begins to wonder whether to use the same formula to find his biro.  This is because the teacher failed to explain to him the application of these formulas in real life situation.

Many mathematics teachers were top in their classes when they were students. When they are not learning in class, they are studying in the library. They spend little time socialising  and having fun     . They grow up to become an expert in mathematics but deficient in relating same to the student . They begin a topic by introducing an abstract theory and leave the student wondering how this theory concerns his life.

They do not deserve to be blamed. They only repeated what was handed over to them by their teacher  . Garbage in garbage out. They can choose to create a new tomorrow.

We can have outstanding mathematician but terrible teachers of mathematics. Great mathematics Teachers begin by stimulating the interest of the student. Students who are less than fourteen years of age are emotionally focused. They tend to feel more and rationalise less .

Simultaneous Equation. : Divide the children into groups of 4 .Ask tleaxh group to go to four different shops . Give each group #200 to buy pencil and biro  .total amount of both items  should be six. Compare each group answer. . Solve on the board. Which group got it right?

Speed : Take student outside  Measure any point A about 100m apart. Get each student to walk fast or run from point A to B and get another student to record time against the student. After each student must have done dat, take them back to the class and calculate the speed of three students. The remaining students should calculate their own  walking speed.

Volume of cylinder : Tell student to bring any empty milk ,or tomatoes container to class. Using ruler, they watch you measure the height and Diameter and repeat the same for their container. After that, you calculate the volume or area using formula method and watch them do the same  .

Average : each student is given a company name and asked to go to the library and get the prices of shares for nine consecutive days. They are to find the moving average of five

Area  The student measure the length and breadth of one class room tile  . Student count the number of tile in the class and find the product.

One way we make mathematics boring is that we do not involve the student in getting the data. We spoon feed them the data . In real life, they have to know how to get the data themselves.  Getting them to measure it themselves makes them engaged. One parent told me his child measures everything he can lay his hands on at home . After measurement, he would begin to calculate  . Things got out of hand when the television fell off. These method make class lovely, children interesting and active participant in the learning process, .Soon children will begin to love the subject

The essence of education is not to get a job only it is because to be useful to yourself and the society
School does not give you direct access to get a job

There are certain things/ information that you knew that someone that didn't go to school doesn't know....

U think it was a waste but I believe it always comes handy when u want to make certain and important decisions in your life..

The fact that you can't find a job now does not mean that all u learnt from uni was not important...

Hmmm I hate the school system but it's not useless. They teach us the opposite of success in schools. They make us compete against each other in class which comes against the basic biological organization of a simple cell. We must work together as an organ to be productive in life. Each one just needs to find out its function. Learn from the sun, stars, moon, water, air, animals and plants.

I won't say much.
Nb. I don't believe in dark science, I believe in the Bible

If you want to stay broke, keep aborting/passing over opportunities. The key to transformation on any level is embracing opportunities

Sorry about your situation. A lot of us Bankers, Doctors, Accountants, Lawyers etc also went to the university and have never been out of a job since we graduated years ago.
This is just my opinion though, but if a person who graduated over 5 - 10yrs ago hasn't been able to find a job, I cannot help but think that there's probably something wrong with the person himself or his quality of education.

Just start somewhere.
GRADUATES also do tailoring and security jobs in the US, Canada and the UK.

The only difference is the quality of life in such countries, which can nearly be compared to anything that can be imagined as Heaven to an average struggling and suffering Nigerian Youth in this present dispensation.

For Example, you don't have to be a GRADUATE to make it in Countries like the US, Canada and Australia. Those Countries are designed to create jobs massively.
People go to school out of passion so as to improve their knowledge base and also get professional jobs and not what is obtained in Nigeria.

MEMORY VERSE:
EDUCATION is the standard upon which you are enlightened and exposed to a lot of things without traveling to see these things for yourself.
It does not necessarily owe you any JOB, rather it teaches you to create wealth.

Because you said this I'll talk. Today, I've never sent a CV anywhere. Setting up multiple enterprises because of the knowledge I learnt through school

I took school extremely serious. Always ranked best in Physics, Maths, Biological sciences. Today, I design machine parts, engineering machines, and complex business infrastructural systems. It's not because I went to school alone. No. It's because I got educated while schooling.

One can go thru/to school, without being educated. That's the difference

I'm skilled in 20 professional fields from engineering to ICT to plant biotechnology. At times, it's about:

1. Skillset

2. Getting educated and not just schooling

3. Forming good beneficial associations that'll push you and inspire you

4. Doing something with what you know and stop procrastining

MY ADVICE TO THE OP IS TO FIND A MENTOR AN ENTREPRENEUR OR ENTERPRISE THAT HAS A VISION AND BELONG TO A UNIT IN THE TEAM AND YOU'LL FIND PURPOSE AND FULFILLMENT

God bless you for this. The mentality that university education is only for one to get a lucrative job is a whack mentality and that's why undergraduates do all manner of shii to get the certificate without adding value to themselves by studying and probably learning any other thing if they see the opportunity.EDUCATION IS PRIMARILY FOR LITERACY SAKE AND TO BE REFINED TO AN EXTENT, GETTING A JOB WITH IT, IS A JARA.This mentality helped me and is still helping me, because it helps me not to over emphasize on my certificate rather I grab opportunities so far it can pay my bills to some extent and funny enough the certificate has been coming through for me but by bit. SO I'LL ADVICE THAT UNDERGRADUATES SHOULD PURSUE THEIR STUDIES FOR LITERATE SAKE AND NOT AS AN AUTOMATIC TICKET OUT OF POVERTY COS IT ISN'T AS FAR AS THIS YEYE "KWANTIRI" IS CONCERNED.

going to university is an automatic ticket to get a job on paper ok the condition that the economy is good and needs more hands, merit is rewarded but not in reality if the economy is bad and nepotism is promoted coupled with wanton looting and stealing. I wouldn't know what you read in school but try putting one or two in practice and see whether you won't create job yourself. Why do you think obodo oyibo is employing our people in their numbers. Finally, it is always read courses that are marketable in the country. A course like philosophy or sociology is not marketable in Nigeria.
