Haven't you seen bad engineers, Doctors, bankers, Lawyers, teachers etc. What is a scam is school not education. Many people had the ideology of doing hot cake courses and they are earning trash. If a Lawyer isn't vast and implementing the Law during a law process, he went to school but he is not educated.
If a Doctor knows all the drugs in the world if possible but can't implement it at the needed time, he went to school but he is not educated.
Albert Einstein who we all celebrate today failed more than once to get into College but what was he known for. Albert Einstein wasn't the most brilliant guy earning all the awards when he was in college.
Gani Fawhemi finished with a third class and built a reputable chamber even his first class, Class mates can never build in their life and even make that name.
EDUCATION IS NOT ALL ABOUT THE LEARNING OF FACTS BUT THE TRAINING OF THE MIND TO THINK DIFFERENTLY.
This is why we have Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Dr Maduka, Dangote, Innoson, Jim Ovia, Tony Elumelu, Seun Osewa, Mike Ozekhome, Pete Edochie, Odunlade Adekola, Broda Shaggi etc. Saw things differently and seized the opportunity not because they went to school but they saw it as a necessity to be educated.

Why is it only the bad you are seeing?
Why can't you point out those who read professional courses and are successful.
Obviously if you were a doctor or Engineer your tune would be different.

The op is talking about how his certificate is useless to him and you are talking off point.

Sorry about your situation. A lot of us Bankers, Doctors, Accountants, Lawyers etc also went to the university and have never been out of a job since we graduated years ago.
This is just my opinion though, but if a person who graduated over 5 - 10yrs ago hasn't been able to find a job, I cannot help but think that there's probably something wrong with the person himself or his quality of education.
You are bankrupt in intelligence and knowledge-wise. More so, you sound irritating because your words itches my heart. To think that you are better off than others academically or otherwise shows how poorly you were trained.

Tear them or.
You are a product of a terrible teacher
Go to any school and ask the students to identify the subject they dislike most. Many of them will chorus “mathematics”. What makes student harbour a passionate hatred for this subject still remains a mystery for most educationist  .

. Many reasons have been proposed . One which seems to be overlooked is the fact that students do not feel connected to the subject in anyway  . Imagine spending hours finding ” x” when “x” is neither your brother or your sister only to search for “x the following day. It is not only routinal but boring. The student begins to wonder whether to use the same formula to find his biro.  This is because the teacher failed to explain to him the application of these formulas in real life situation.

Many mathematics teachers were top in their classes when they were students. When they are not learning in class, they are studying in the library. They spend little time socialising  and having fun     . They grow up to become an expert in mathematics but deficient in relating same to the student . They begin a topic by introducing an abstract theory and leave the student wondering how this theory concerns his life.

They do not deserve to be blamed. They only repeated what was handed over to them by their teacher  . Garbage in garbage out. They can choose to create a new tomorrow.

We can have outstanding mathematician but terrible teachers of mathematics. Great mathematics Teachers begin by stimulating the interest of the student. Students who are less than fourteen years of age are emotionally focused. They tend to feel more and rationalise less .

Simultaneous Equation. : Divide the children into groups of 4 .Ask tleaxh group to go to four different shops . Give each group #200 to buy pencil and biro  .total amount of both items  should be six. Compare each group answer. . Solve on the board. Which group got it right?

Speed : Take student outside  Measure any point A about 100m apart. Get each student to walk fast or run from point A to B and get another student to record time against the student. After each student must have done dat, take them back to the class and calculate the speed of three students. The remaining students should calculate their own  walking speed.

Volume of cylinder : Tell student to bring any empty milk ,or tomatoes container to class. Using ruler, they watch you measure the height and Diameter and repeat the same for their container. After that, you calculate the volume or area using formula method and watch them do the same  .

Average : each student is given a company name and asked to go to the library and get the prices of shares for nine consecutive days. They are to find the moving average of five

Area  The student measure the length and breadth of one class room tile  . Student count the number of tile in the class and find the product.

One way we make mathematics boring is that we do not involve the student in getting the data. We spoon feed them the data . In real life, they have to know how to get the data themselves.  Getting them to measure it themselves makes them engaged. One parent told me his child measures everything he can lay his hands on at home . After measurement, he would begin to calculate  . Things got out of hand when the television fell off. These method make class lovely, children interesting and active participant in the learning process, .Soon children will begin to love the subject

Well spoken!

I was in JSS 1, Home Economics Class. The teacher was talking about puberty in adolescents and the attending changes. Then she asked if anyone had started to menstruate among us. One girl, Kafilat, stood up. You can't imagine my surprise and then happiness. Reason? I never imagined what we read in books can happen in real life to a real person that I know!

Such is the plight of many students. It's a blunder on the part of teachers and it's marred many promising futures. I've never been good at Mathematics but I was excellent in other subjects. Not your average excellent o, I used to get 100 percent in many subjects when I sit for exams. I've never gotten Mathematics right until JSS 3. They just brought her, the teacher, and we clicked right away! I got my Maths right for once because she was my friend. But I failed to build up on it. She only taught Junior Secondary! Then on moving to SS1, there was a relapse. It was like that till I wrote my WAEC. Do you know what I did on WAEC Day, Maths? I wrote my name on my paper and slept off. I couldn't cheat. I'd never do that. Then I submitted my empty paper later. In the objective, I gambled. I told them my F9 was sure when I got home. I couldn't lie too and that was what happened. I got my F9.

I agree with you 100% teacher and methodology matter in impacting the students. I will always advocate for training and retraining of teachers so they can keep up with industry standard.

Bro..... the certificate may be useless.... but the information gained can never be.... unless you did not earn the certificate or crammed to achieve it. The problem is education......how to apply the knowledge to earn a living. Some use it to teach others providing you have a good understanding of the information.... some use it to start and build their own business.... most to gain employment . The job market is tough... not enough openings... worse with this unending COVID-19 shut down... so chances of being employed are even more remote. Stop placing your future on that certificate.... while hou wait for an opportunity to use it.... find something else to do.
