This is one of the issues spoiling our country today. When he was insulting his elders, you never cautioned him or asked him to behave.
Now that someone adviced him not to embarrass his parents by behaving well in public which is actually an advice. (I've had instances where i tell my younger one's to go make our parents proud and not bring shame to the family). you don show with your lopsided analysis.
My dad will always say that 'if you bite my nose not minding if I have running nose, I won't hesitate to bite your nyansh, you having shi' t in there or having running stomach is inconsequential to me'.
My advice whenever you see a child insulting an elder and the elder reacts in a way that you feel it's not right. First caution the child for him/her to know that his actions are wrong before telling the elder where he might have said something wrong.
