Good morning, more life for everyone contributing actively in this forum. I come with a problem I hope to find solutions too inside here.

My problems are these -

I'm a Bsc holder in the social sciences and I had a 2.2 qualification. How attainable is it that I can apply for Msc in Canada with it ?

If possible , which low tuition schools can I apply to and which schools don't need Ielts English test ?

Finally PPR DROPPED! (Long post alert!)

The whole process has been very overwhelming. My family and I have been at it since 2016, 2 visiting visas refused(2016 $ 2018) previous Study permit refused(2019) in between I had 3 yankee Visa refusals(2018 & 2019) despite being a frequent visitor.
In January 2020., my husband got his Canadian visit visa(5year validity) after his 4th Application and guess what, his application took 12 working days. I attempted PR, wrote iElts once in 2018 ( R: 9 L: 8, S: 7.5,W: 6) but Age(currently 38 yrs) and 2nd degree were factors that didn’t work in my favor.
I applied for GCMS and it came with a refusal note summary that was entered in ERROR! (check old post)
Please allow me to Thank God o! ( Ejo, if you don’t believe in God just allow me thank him Biko) don’t use my post to start a religious argument. Nagode!

Hello PanicButton,

Your friend should check for M.sc Soil Science in Manitoba or some other schools. Fairly standard isn't good enough. If her publication is related to soil science then good. In another situation, the said person could draft maybe a 14 page unpublished journal related to soil science as an ongoing research work. Encourage the person not to relent, as this is the best time to search for supervisor ahead of Fall 2021.

All the best

Thanks very much for your response. I will convey this message to her.

Hi PanicButton,

Getting a Supervisor for MASTERS in CANADA is like a full time job, most esp. for international students, too some extent that over 15 professor is not enough, av seen a guy who mailed like 60 professors, it was like 3 Supervisors he got a Positive Response from.

So she shouldn't be sad and worried, she should rise up and refire...

She should Contact more Profs. cos there are tons of schools offering Masters in Geography in Canada

The link below has over 40 Canadian schools for Masters in Geography, she should google & visit the website of the skools, check staff profiles of the Geography Dept. of the schools, and check research areas interests and Contact (e-mail) of the professors in Geography, am sure she would get substantial number of PROFs to mail.

She should make sure her Research Interest in Geography matches the the PROFS. Research areas.

With a 2.2 you should be going for a Post Graduate Certificate/ Post Graduate Diploma.

Most schools in Canada does not require IELTS for Nigerians seeking study permit
Check out College of North Atlantic Newfoundland

Hello PanicButton,
Sorry to hear about your friend. I had a taste of what she’s going through. I got into a thesis-based MSc and I can assure you it’s not always easy. It wasn’t for me.

Getting constant rejections breaks your spirit. I gave up at a point. And one day, in my sad state, I sent a subpar email, and that was the one that got me a supervisor.

My point is persistence is key! She should pick up herself and keep trying. She should try other schools and more supervisors. The Accra VAC has responded with the list of documents needed for the process. It's completely at your discretion to go ahead or wait until the VAC in Nigeria reopens. I have said it earlier on this thread, I know three (3) persons who used his route to submit their passports and have gotten it stamped and returned back to them. Thus I decided to share the information with you guys.

Hi everyone, I am a newbie here, and I have been reading up on the thread. They have been quite insightful. Please I would appreciate if I can be guided in my decision making.

Here is my scenario

I studied chemical engineering with a 2.2 graduated in 2004, worked in an oil servicing coy as a process engineer for like 7years. After which I didnt do anything for like 3years. I started a beauty business in 2015, Salon/Spa.

I would love to do a postgraduate program in canada.

Now my real question is which pgd is advisable to go for with a high probabilityof admission and Study Visa?

In chemical engineering field or in business management? Betterstill any other program advise?

Also I would appreciate suggestions on which province has high visa approval and suggestions of colleges I can apply to.

I would appreciate your kind responses.

If your business is legally registered with CAC and functional in Nigeria. Your best bet would be to opt for a business management program rather than chemical engineering. This is because you've been in the business field for more than 5 years and still counting. It will be rational in the sight of the VO if you present your case as an entrepreneur. By so doing, include relevant documents like transactions receipts, screenshots of your business online presence, SOA of the business etc. that would solidify your immigration case. You may also apply to University Canada West for her MBA considering you've vast experience in business.

A format to try in contacting supervisor
•Greetings (1 line)
•Aim of sending the email (2-3 lines, you’re looking for a supervisor, state the start date you’re looking to work with)
•Brief summary of the project you want to work on (5 lines) let them know you are interested in it, but open to working on something else. Don’t be too rigid
•State your past publications if any (topic and journal published 5 lines)
•Tell them you’ve checked the admission requirement for the program and you qualify (make sure you check and actually qualify) (2 lines max)
•Closing greeting

She can attach her CV (Canadian standard)as and abstract from her previous publication. If she can, a brief research proposal for the proposed project (1-2 pages)

If she has funds, she can look into a course based program.

All the best

Greetings.
Pls guys, I'm a graduate of international relations 2018. Finished my nysc last year and I just got admission to study personal support worker diploma in evergreen college . All my documents are complete but Im really confused about how to get a tie with Nigeria as I'm not married nor have any major property. I need your advice guys
Hi Ifeoma,

I discovered that,

- This Personal Support Worker program is a 31 weeks Certificate program (not a DIPLOMA),

- The school is a DLI but the skool (Evergreen College) u are going for does not offer PGWP (Post Graduate Work Permit) which would not be beneficial to you if you decide to stay in Canada after your studies,

Your Study Visa Chances might likely be very slim if u follow this path most esp. If u wanna stay in Canada after studies

In your best interest,

As suggested by JustMellow.
