I think you are good to go because they extended all payment till Dec because of the pandemic.

This should help out. I think they are no longer accepting emergency student visa interview schedule.

Has anyone scheduled an interview appointment recently? Are interview dates available for Dec and Jan?

If you go to their site you will see the available dates there. It changes regularly. So always check their site for available date

I get what you are trying to say here.

Always let your left hand side of your I-20 equals the right hand side, hence you won't have to be doing unnecessary explanation.

If your Tuition & Fees is 20k and living expense is 7k, your estimated cost of attendance is 27K. Now you have a funding of
25K, you will be left with a deficit of 2k. Now, assume you sent a SOA with a closing balance of 10k as family or personal funds. Please follow up with your DSO to quote the personal or family funds to be 2k instead of that 10k.

Doing this both sides will be equal in amount and the VO will be able to interpret clearly.
sonofakin:
Let's assume total cost of studies is $40,000 and one gets an assistantship of $30,000. It means the deficit is 10k right? So when you request for your I-20 and submit your assistantship letter, you need to also submit a bank statement for the deficit. So on that right side, your assistantship amount shows as 30k, then maybe self or family support should only show that 10k deficit. It should not matter even if you submitted a bank statement of 200k. My point is that you I-20 isn't showing your actual deficit, you will be relying on the VO to do the maths or you should be prepared to explain. I don't know if you understand my point

My husband was my sponsor too and i went with my child. some of these things dont have a clear cut answer. I have seen a a couple with a child all go together and all got. I have also seen the lady go with the child and the husband was given F2 later. PhD aint an easy journey and if the baby is very young, they might all give it a try since she has full funding. Many questions might be asked but be prepared for questions related to funding for the family.

Pls zeeLady, how are you able to cope with a child? I intend coming for masters with my 5 year old but I have just been wondering how joggling that would be. Could you pls throw more light on what has helped you so far, what advice would you give to others considering this. Thank you

Please, can someone tell me how to go about emergency appointment?
It is simple:

1, pay your visa fee at GTB. Logon to the cgi site here: https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/?country=Nigeria

fill in your details and put the reference number on your visa fee receipt. Proceed and book any appointment date you see on the site, even if it is December 2021. Just book.

2. Once you book, the option for "emergency appointment" will show on the left pane menu. Note this. Click on the emergency appointment, which will take you to another page with form to fill.

3. You must have paid your sevis fee and have the confirmation receipt. You must have a scanned copy of your i-20.

4. In the first section of the form, click academic or student. Then compose a short message as to why you need emergency appointment. State your program start date as on i-20 in the message you compose. Indicate the tentative traveling plan you filled in your ds160.

5. Attach your I-20 and sevis. Then submit.

If approved, you will be notified to go and pick an ealier date on the site. If refused, you're on your own!

All the best!

I had the interview on the 16th October, 2020.

I booked a room at a hotel about 2.7km from the consulate. I also was fortunate to meet a driver who agreed to drive me to the consulate at 5am sharp...amd he kept his word... I almost felt goosebumps when he called me 4:59am.
Anyways, I arrived few minutes afterwards with some 5 interviewees waiting. We weren't attended to until few minutes past 6am.

Heads-up... please get all your documents and reciprocity fee ready. Some who came quite early had to fall out of the line to get their stuffs set... And trust the "boys" waiting to overbill you for your unpreparedness.
Shortly, we were ushered in and checked thoroughly and I began to fall back from my 2nd position in line to abt 5th (apparently, a razor was detected in my wallet which I had no premonition about)
Well, I entered sha...verifications and all. My ds160 was for Abuja and upon knowing, I was asked to wait so it can be retrieved to lagos' database. At this time, I was no 17th.
Gladly the consular official (I think he's the infamous Chinese) was just issuing visa o... Abt 14 plus... Only 1 got a yellow slip. I guess he took a break and another dude took over. And fast forward to me... Here it went thus..

Me: good morning
VO: yea, morning, your documents please
Me: hands over

VO: why are you going to US?
Me: I'm going to pursue a Masters degree in Engineering with concentration in petr....

VO: Why this school?
Me: well, besides the fact that it's among the top 10, the....

VO: I know, but why this particular one and not the other 9?
Me: OK, the works of prof... Quite aligns with mine interest and...

VO: so, who's sponsoring you?
Me: I was offered a research assistantship position which caters for the tuition and comes with stipends for my living expenses..

VO: are you married
Me: no

VO: do you have children
Me: no

... VO muted the microphone and started speaking with his colleague saying somethings like.. Yeah he's genuine and all and he's into a research program blah blah... Las Las...
VO : I intend to issue you a visa, go pay at counter 22 ensure your i-20 is with you blah blah...

Me: thank you.. God bless.

I'm profoundly grateful to my friend Prosper for the mockup interviews.. I don't know how to thank my God enough really.

Please have you collected your passport?

Have you received any mail regarding pick up?

The mail dropped 5 minutes ago. I chose Premium delivery option, but the mail stated I can pick up at VI. Any idea on how to get it shipped to DHL center in PH?

Have you ever used this before? It always says no status update available.

I enter A0********

Or am I entering it the wrong way? Should the A be removed?

I did my interview on the 13th and I am yet to get a mail from them.

However, people that did theirs on the 16th and 19th respectively have gotten mails.

Hello, bosses in the house. I hope you are all doing well.

I have been admitted to study Public Administration at the University of Arizona. I deferred my admission to the spring semester.
My question.
1. Please can anyone help with info on funding aid
2. How do I start my visa processing?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by zeeLady: 3:19pm On Oct 27, 2020
Its so hard for me honestly but I wouldnt have it any other way. I couldnt have left my baby, she was only about three months old then. Please be sure you have finances oooo even if you have full funding. If the child is above 4 years old, then you MAY get free school, but if the child is less than 4 years old, the money you will pay eh can drive someone mad (something like $220 weekly, in bigger cities it reaches and exceeds $500 weekly).
If your school is in a city where you have family, then the better for you. I didnt have the advantage of family but the church i attend is predomimnatly white people and luckily for me, all of the people i have been meeting in the church are the nicest crop of people on earth. For reasons i dont know, elderly people were becoming my friends more and from that circle, i have been able to get childcare for free including weekends, when i need them. They have become family. If you ever get to come with your baby, hit me up for more info. Take care. Also bear in mind that your husband getting F2/B is not automatic ooooo.
