What does ram really do?
Well, it is used to run so many applications at same time..it helps keeps some background apps open etc.. how much ram do you need on a smartphone?
4gb ram is sufficient enough for everyday use without noticing a lag..and of course it is normal for phones to get slow over time. Even the 3wgb ram on a desktop can get quite slow when using high demanding ram applications.. don't fall for the 6gb, 8gb or even 12gb. You don't need it. Most and all games will rum at 4gb perfectly.. what you should really look at is the processor and the GPU needed for the games.

Older phones are now outdated; Well this is the most stupid of them all. Example, the Google pixel 4XL is actually better than the pixel 5. The pixel 5 now has a low end GPU and processor..another example is getting a pixel 3a over pixel 3xl or even pixel 2xl.. in terms of raw power, the older pixel where high end phones and the newer is a low end..another example is getting Samsung a50 over Samsung S8. This is a blunder because the s8 was a high end of it time, and processors don't age that fast .a quad-core processor will take you upto 5 to 6 years before you can notice decrease in performance...
Always consider high end phones of older years over low end of newer generations.


4k, 2k and 1080p:
This is another gimmick to sell phones..most users don't own a 2k tv talkless of a 4k. How would you watch the 4k video? This is a welcome technology for the future, but for now. 1080p is still the standard, what you should focus on is if the camera has video stabilization.

I don't think this is completely true.

1. Number one item on refresh rate might be 50% true, depending on the type of users that will be using the phone, but since you make emphasis on ladies on your post I presumed most ladies won't be playing high-end games.

2. Number two on RAM. if you are a high-end gamer, please don't listen to her advise. A normal 4GB RAM phone, cannot play most games on play store very well and yes since your post mentioned ladies I presume they won't be playing a lot of high-end games.

3. Finally, the world is moving 4K content display. YouTube recently enabled uploading of videos in 8K. PlayStation has advised gamers to go and buy a TV that has more refresh rate and higher resolution because the PS5 console won't be seamless on a TV that is not 4K upwards or a TV that has a refresh rate of 60Hz and lower

Your number 2 isn't correct, I used to use the 4gb variant to the realme 5 pro with an SD 712 processor and I played high end games seamlessly on it. You can say that it wouldn't hold on to apps in the background especially the high end games like a 6gb ram or higher device would.

For ram, I would state that RAM type and speed is very very important.

If you like buy a 12GB LPDDR2 RAM running at 400mhz, a 4GB LPDDR4x RAM running at 1200MHz will disgrace that 12GB RAM.

it's why I am not fazed when certain companies are celebrating big ram.

Then also, when you mention "old phones" be sure to specify Flagships within the last three years. Anything else is serious tears because ISA has moved from ARMv8.1a to as high as ARMv8.4 for the new X1 and A78 cores.

Those old phones will struggle big time.

This is inconsequential cause no phone company will give a phone a good processor with with 6 to 12gb ram a mediocre RAM type so this doesn't count. Unless you're willing to give me an example of course

4gb ram can handle any games.. on Android, games or not classified bases on the hardware like computers.
Besides, phones are not meant for gaming, if you are really a gamer, you wouldn't game on mobile phones.

YouTube allows people to upload to 8k, is your phone or laptop upto 8k?. You will only waste your time since your phone may only output 1080p or 1440p. And your are not compressing the video to 1080 or 1440p. This are two different stuffs.

Aunty relax. More and more titles are being created for mobile phones. There are specific gaming phones available if you want them. The chips you see on most phones were built specifically for gaming.

Abeg remove that notion from your mind abeg.

Although I know for most women its all about camera and social media, nothing else.

Nah, you will be suprised to know infinix have used a Qualcomm chipset in the past on one of their phones. Besides mediatek is improving, it won't benefit anyone if Qualcomm is the only chip manufacturer in the game. They can decide to slam a huge price tag on their latest chipset since they have no rival.
The redmi note 8 pro and some mid budget phones uses the mediatek g90t which is competing with the Snapdragon 720g.
