#EndSARS: 50 Persons Killed, 80 Injured In Oyigbo Area Of Rivers State – Intersociety

A human rights organization, International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) has said that it has confirmed the killing of at least 50 people with 80 others Injured during and after the EndSARS protest in Oyigbo local government area of Rivers State.

Chairman of Intersociety, Mr. Emeka Umeagbalasi in a statement accused Governor Nyesom Wike of aiding the military to kill residents of Oyigbo between 21st October and 4th November, 2020.

He alleged the killings were so glaring that the corpses of the slain littered the bushes and the roadsides, with some buried shallow graves or left to decompose and others picked up by their relatives.

According to him, “In Obigbo and environs in Rivers State, we can temporarily confirm the killing of at least 50 unarmed citizens and injuring of not less than 80 others. We can also confirm eleven deaths so far out of which, eight have their names identified and three yet to be named.

“Their names are: Pastor Igwe (slain husband of Mrs. Amara Igwe), Queen Nwazuo (slain fiancée of Mr. Monday Bakor), Okoro Peter and Chinwendu O; they were shot at close range and killed instantly by soldiers on 24th October 2020 few meters away from Governor Wike’s convoy.

The Governor was visiting Obigbo to assess his military deployment and curfew same day and the two young residents barely emerged from their houses to hear what their Governor has come to tell them when soldiers sighted them and opened fire, killing them instantly.

“They were shot on their forehead, forcing the brain-box of late Chinwendu to burst and emptied at the center of the road. Other dead citizens were: Jude Egejuru (died from gunshot injuries), Clifford Nkemdilim, Miss Ngozi Ozuo, Udeme Ossy Monday, a yet-to-be identified dead citizen, second yet-to-be-identified citizen and third yet-to-be-identified dead citizen. It must be noted that soldiers took away bodies of most of those killed.

What in God's name is this?

Why is media not reporting the genocide committed against Obigbo people.

I'm so bitter right now. Wike and the people that aided this genocide won't go unpunished.

Wike supervised the ethnic cleansing and can never absolve himself. There are records of some of those killings while the evil Nigerian Army to took away the corpse of majority of their victims. It's well on record.

Nothing may happen to wike because he is powerful before innocent Oyigbo people.

But one thing is certain, karma has no respect for position no matter how highly placed you think you are.

Wike rode on the wings of the Igbo race to achieve his ambition, but suddenly realised how inconsequential their lives are to him. They hated Amaechi because of wike, they backed him to succeed just to spite Amaechi, even though we warned them that Wike is evil

50 - 80 people were killed and you succeed in mentioning 4 names.

“Their names are: 1. Pastor Igwe (slain husband of Mrs. Amara Igwe), 2. Queen Nwazuo (slain fiancée of Mr. Monday Bakor), 3. Okoro Peter and 4. Chinwendu O; they were shot at close range and killed instantly by soldiers on 24th October 2020 few meters away from Governor Wike’s convoy.

Why are you people like this? sad

Go and check the history of people who used the military to kill innocent civilians. They don't end up well

The rate at which lives are wasted in this country is quite alarming as if nigeria is a slaughterhouse. If this is true then Wike has a case to answer

I have said it, no matter the idiocy of IPOB, Wike had no right sending soldiers to go shoot at sight at civilians. What happened to arrest? I expected a mass arrest but nothing of such happened, rather the army went brazingly with full might to commit another Odi in Oyigbo. The followings names must be held accountable by Amnesty.

1. Governor Nyesom Wike
2. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu
3. The GOC Bori Camp - Maj. Gen. J. O. Irefin
4. The commanding Army officer that led the killings
5. The Commissioner of Police - Usman A Belel

The number of dead people must be far more than this. Wike has been a chronic igbo hater right from his days as the local government chairman ai Obiakpor. He claims he is from Benin and this seem to push him and certain ikwerres with his line of thinking to always try to purge Rivers State of any Igbo heritage. Like I said before, it's now time to push back! Igbos are indigenous to Rivers and nothing the likes of Wike says will change that. The Nigerian government handed Rivers State to pro federal Nigerian characters post war and all they have been doing ever since is to wage all sorts of evil wars against the Igbo population there.. This has to stop!

IPOB miscreants making this an Igbo affair as usual. Igbos must not fall for this trash. When are you gonna add Kanu to the list of muderers. If Wike is implicated, how about Kanu whose utterance began the killings.

Kanu can never be exonerated. Next time, maybe when he’s incarcerated in prison, he’ll learn not to stoke ethnic tension with his utterances.

When you send the Army to go to an area after IPOB, the Army has no way of knowing who an IPOB member. As far as the Army is concerned, every adult male is IPOB.

People dont understand that the training of the Police and that of the Army is very different. The Police are trained to investigate, arrest and only to open fire in dire situations. The Army is trained that all situations are dire and to open fire. That is why the Army is never brought into civil unrest unless the situation has escalated to a critical level beyond the control of the Police

In this ENDSARS times, most states in the South of Nigeria witnessed the burning of Police stations and the loss of lives on both sides, protesters and Police. Governors were running around trying to calm down situation.

Wike was the only Governor who tried to make things worse in his home state. He just got up one morning, without any investigation or proof, claimed that IPOB destroyed lives and property in Obigbo. The next day, he invited the security forces into Obigbo. Now more people are dead and more properties are destroyed, all for what? Just so that a foolish Governor can look appealing to the North. The only people clapping for Wike are Northerners

Wike will one day face justice for all the deaths he needlessly caused in Obigbo

I'm not a fan of Nnamdi Kanu but was it Nnamdi Kanu that orders Army to massacre innocent citizens? Bandits and Boko haram have been killing Army and police in the North so why their governors have not ordered the Army to massacre their people. since Wike falsely claimed that IPOB is a terrorist organization
