she's was coming from Maiduguri, grandfa was sick (RIP) then.. so she came down to search for some herbs.... they directed her to makurdi , for easy and quick trip she took boat.... she said all of a sudden their boat engine just off in the middle of the river about 3x... the third time, here comes a wave disturbing the boat... and behold something is swimming under the boat " boom " it was half human half tail. only God that saved em" with another empty boat coming.

But some may not believe this stories. I first saw a spirit around 2002/2003 or let's just say early 2000s. I was on my way to the toilet to pee. At the passage, something whispered to my mind that I would see a spirit and I shouldn't b scared. When I got to the toilet, I look out of the window and saw a spirit walking all over our plantain leaves. I mean, leaves ooooooo wey even if bird perch on, e go come down cos of it weight. The leaves no even shake. Immediately, I called my elder brother's attention to it but he saw nothing. The spirit levitated higher into the sky and left. While it was leaving I gave it a closer look and discovered its likeness to one of my neighbours. It flew in d direction of their house. Till date, I didn't c d dude again.

I have been in benue for over 10+yrs and the only time i went close to that river it was as if am gonna faint, i turned and went back. I've lost about four friends to that river.

we were kids then = abba father is /was a native doctor, wifyin two wives....a very big compound with two gates, the first gate is for poultry and the second one is for building.. in that second gate there is (lime tree, umbrella fruit tree and banana tree) every time we were playing.. the boy will came up with this " at night when I wanna ease myself I always saw some humans " I. e the lime tree turned into an old man ,the umbrella fruit turned into young man while the banana turned into a boy... we as a kids then thought he was only joking or lying. we refused to take it serious, dissing him that he is only afraid.. but later found out it was real (the source of his daddy power).. hmm no be here ooo.

I.just went through. I've read many of the stories but like most else, no hard proof was found. I have a video file that showed a very brief mermaid interaction but she fled into the ocean not more than 3 secs after being spotted.

I have heard tales in Zimbabwe ( a local promised to show me the possible locations where they gather), likewise Haiti and some carribean islands. The thing is I'm to go alone. The locals fear them.
The supernatural never bothered me. I've lived with it all my life. But now I want more...see more...explore more... Call me crazy but it is what it is.

N.B: I have heard so much jazz about mermaids in Nigeria but no proof. I have several leads(from coded sources) that I wanted to chase down. Two in Ekiti, Three in Osun and hopefully Benue but COVID-19 delayed me. Hopefully, by next year,I will start doing the African tour of my research.
