Jolek15:It is not too late to book if you still want to join Spring2021. You can start preparing by requesting for your I-20 and then pay your SEVIS fee. You can pay for your visa and start filling your Ds160 form. Then, proceed to CGI website to book an appointment. The dates that are currently available are April days but people are getting their appointments rescheduled through emergency appointment. You can start the process now. |

Phori:Things are a little bit different this time. People were able to get emergency appointments even when their resumption date was more than 60 days away. |

edox15:It looks like you didn't prepare or have clearly outlined reasons for chosing UC. If there's any part you're to stutter, it shouldn't be "why this school?" This is the key question during the interview, except where the consular isn't really interested in knowing. What's the cost of attendance on your i-20? |

UNCG:Was it the vo that was speaking fast in an unfriendly tone? What time we're you interviewed? |

Abone2:To be honest with you, there's no plain answer to your questions. I will advice you renew your visa in the US. Coming to Nigeria is not a problem and I doubt your visa will be refused as you're in status. About your wife, there's no plain answer to this. She can reapply. If she is really a credible student (truly coming to the US to study and not just to come and stay with you and be hustling, while you're the one with intent to study), she may try again and see how it goes. Additionally, if she gets into more competitive school, funded, she'll be able to strengthen her application that she's not runing to be with you, and that her intent is to study. You're in the best place to decide what you want to do. Kindly look at similar case I responded to. Others may also suggest options/solutions I couldn't capture in my response here. All the best! |

Loloking:Yeah the vo on the left. The first guy to start interviewing was warm and welcoming asking all the typical qst and stuff. But the other guy which was next to him by his right was different. I was only asked 4 qst and was denied. Will share my transcript. |

Youngstown:Same here and he asked nothing relating to school just where re you going, sponsor, married, Kidd and have you travelled out of the country. Exactly just 4questions. Denied me because he felt like it and it hurts that we can’t question them on this nonsense. I don’t blame them, I blame my country because they feel we are animals here, he can’t do that in his country, deny a student visa based on his subjectiveness and power as VO. I have paid another visa application and did a new DS160. But no appointment in Lagos bad I am considering Abuja because just maybe because of the low rush the Abuja VO will take time and ask questions, Lagos has lime inside and outside with people waiting Nd security treating us like kids. Like someone said better days ahead. Hurts less now. |

fairheart:The cost of my I-20 is $44k, no funding but I have a sponsors statement of account of a little over $100k. I guess I was a bit nervous that's why I stuttered but he didn't even let me finish one sentence. Any ideas on what I can do differently ? Perhaps, may be how I can start my responses. Thanks for taking out time to respond, I very much appreciate. |

Loloking:I've been advised several times to schedule an appointment with the Abuja embassy, that the Lagos consulate is like a motor park flooded with passengers and not too many buses/drivers. |

Visa Approved. Date: November 6 2020. 8:00 am. Transcript: Me: Good morning Sir. VO: Good morning. Place your four fingers on the scanner, then your two thump fingers. Me: I did all as required. VO: Where are you going in the USA ME: I am a graduate student of xxn university studying MSc degree in Chemistry. I want to resume for in- person classes in spring 2021 to continue and complete my program. VO: Which school did you attend for your undergraduate studies. Me: I attended xxxx University with major in applied chemistry VO:. When did you graduate Me:. September 2009. VO:. Why did it take you this long to go for a master's program. Me:. Because I have been working in the pharmaceutical industry since my graduation and National Youth Service. I am having a good career in the industry. I believe work experience I have now will be on great use during my graduate program as I am mature and focused on the specific research I want to do in the area of drug design, synthesis, instrumentation & characterisation and commercialization. VO: (looking curious) Ok tell me, what do you do now in your current role. Me: I work with xxxbn pharmaceutical company as an Asst Quality Control Manager. Infact I analysed medicines and approve from the lab which are used by millions of people in Nigeria and other African countries. If there is a quality defects in produced drugs and I fail to detect it in the lab then lives could be lost with severe consequences. VO: Do you know the cost of this program Me:. Xxxxn USD. But I have GA to work in the department's laboratory, a housing scholarship for the entire duration of the program. I also have personal savings from my job. Me: (he kept typing for some time and I didn't want silence) so I said Sir can I put on my nose mask now? Because I had earlier removed it during biometrics. VO: yes please you can put it back on Me: ( trying to have his attention) I said " Sir can I tell you more why this degree is very important for me? VO: (looking straight into my eyes while I looked into his his confidence, but not arrogant) yes please tell me Me: like I said before I analyse medicines that many lives depends on. This program will improve my scientific and technical competence in all areas of drug analysis, advanced chemical instrumentation due to the increasing regulatory requirements in promoting the quality of medicines. When I conclude this program, I will be coming back to continue to train young scientists working with me in the lab and will fulfill the requirements to be promoted to senior managerial level in my organisation. VO:. (types for some seconds) and asked are you married Me:. No, but I am in a serious relationship and will be getting married on my return from this program. VO: Okay, I will be approving your visa. Go to window 22 and pay reprocity fee ( Then the usual POE advise them gave me white paper with yellow tag) Note: I wrote this transcript BC I know it might be of great use to working professionals who have been in the industry of any for some years before going for a graduate program. In all things prepare well and pray, God can do all things. No financial documents was asked |

NoTimeZone:If you can do Abuja and have the money to travel please do because the line in Lagos is much. My experience with the security check outside, they will ask your passport and documents, put a white stamp at the back and return it un-arrange. While I was trying to arrange he was like why is your documents scattered, I replied that lady give it back to me this way and I am trying to arrange it, he shouts who asked you that, immediately I told him don’t talk to me like that, you didn’t pay any documents I hold here. They are all so brass. I don’t know if it’s the crowd or they haven’t eaten. Then a VO denies me for absolutely nothing because he feels like it. The crowd was much in summary so if you can apply to Abuja without no hassle. Please do because I am seriously considering it. |

Here's my transcript. Was interviewed on 13th Nov. 6am. When I got in, it was only one vo that was doing the interview. Then another joined him, this one speaks very fast. This guy denied the guy in fornt of me, denied me and the guy behind. V.o where are you going to. Me- I'm going to wright state university Dayton Ohio for my msc in mechanical engineering V.o- To specialize in Me- (quite apprehensive here cus I was not expecting this qst) renewable and sustainable energy. Who is your sponsor- my parents, dad is a physician, mum is a lawer. (Then he asked for my statements, glanced through it and gave it back. It had twice the sum) V.o- have you travelled out of the country b4 Me- no, I have had no reason to. That was all. Gave me the green slips that states I'm ineligible under section 214 (b)....unable to demonstrate strong ties. How would I have demonstrated strong ties with those four qst? No why master or what will this degree do for you. Sad stuff. I however noticed ppl with full funding got their Visa regardless their performance. I felt I would have explained when he asked "to specialize"? And stated I had 5k scholarship for 2 yrs before I say my parents would sponsor. I was purely unlucky. Immediately the vo started interviewing guys, I knew he would disturb cus of the way he was speaking. I'm confused as to what to do next. If I am to reapply and move to Abj. No close dates sef for ppl rejected. Gurus in the house, Fairheart, lagosismyHome, Solihp muleriders what do you think? Thanks. |

Youngstown:I've repplied to Abuja. Earliest date March, 3rd. Applied for expedited although a criteria is that you should not have been refused visa within the last six months. Please, any advice from someone that has done this recently? |

edox15:In my opinion, $44K is too much. What happened to schools that are less expensive? You can try again if you feel you will do better during your next interview. |
