'I Left PDP Because Of Injustice’ –Umahi Finally Confirms Defection To APC by fergie001(mod): 5:58pm On Nov 17, 2020
David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi state, has finally confirmed his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

There have been reports on the governor leaving the PDP where he served as deputy governor and was twice elected governor but Umahi has not spoken publicly about it.

After a meeting with Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe and chairman of the APC caretaker committee, on Monday, Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo, had said Umahi will confirm his defection to the APC “in a few hours”.

At a press conference in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi, on Tuesday, Umahi confirmed that he has joined the ruling party.

He attributed the action to the “injustice” done to the south-east PDP, wondering why the PDP has not zoned the presidency to the region.

“Let me clear the air and state that I never sort for the ticket of PDP Presidency and I will not. Whoever that said that I moved to APC because they refused to zone the ticket to me is being very mischievous. Because even if PDP promises me, an individual a presidential ticket, how does it work?”

“It is expected that we’ll over 8000 delegates would elect the person and such promise can not happen without more than 10 or 20 people. People are being very mischievous but I tell you, there are a lot of prominent people from South East that can take the slot of PDP.

“Why am I moving to APC? Some people said I was promised this and that but I tell you, there is no such discussion. APC never promised me any position, they never promised South East any position, there was no such discussion, however I offered this movement as a protest to the injustice being done to South East by the PDP since 1998 till date.”

If Umahi thinks he will achieve his 2023 Presidential Pipe dream ambition with the APC, then he is the biggest dullard that ever liveth, even worse than Buhari.

Taar! Tell us another thing.

Naija politicians don't care about their own people not to talk of a whole region.

He defected for personal interests. Nigerian politicians have no shame whatsoever. You left a party where you have been winning elections, to a party that is unpopular in your zone, just because they are in power at the federal level. What amount of injustice has PDP done to Igbos that equate the one APC has done in the last 5 years? APC and PDP are bad political parties that have nothing to offer, the only difference is that APC is worse than PDP

Good luck

Ebonyi as a state has no business being in the opposition.
Ebonyi is too poor a state, whose allocation and IGR won't be enough to service their recurrent expenditures talk more of capital projects.
In a society like ours , where capital projects from the federal government are located in states that align with the government at the central, Ebonyi needs as many projects as possible to join the league of developed States.
For me, I believe it's a step in the right direction for umahi and the good people of Ebonyi state.

At least you have gone to the home of justice. We don't want to hear any complaints in the future, Mr Seeker of Justice.
You can ask Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, former Delta state governor. We are seeking unity in the South and this turncoat is claiming freedom fighter.

Why bring in the SE to justify leaving PDP?
He was never a loyal party member. No be today
