This Democratic challenge I suggested is actually winning it when compared to the other challenges. Now, condition for this challenge is "nominate... Who you believe deserves the scanner"

If we are to interpret this clearly, electorates are/should therefore be
1) A bonifide member of NL
2) Should/must know the person he/she is nominating to know that they deserve the scanner.

Now, a candidate has clearly stated he doesn't know anything about the Uber thread and also, I've barely read where anyone has stated he/she know him to either be a driver to a car or own one, therefore I do not think such a candidate deserves this scanner.

All of these people casting their votes can they defend that clause in the challenge statement? "Who you know deserves the scanner"

The car is a gift, which one be all the conditions attached. Person wey no one serious no go serious conditions or not
peeps4u:

If it is a gift then, don't tell him; let it be on HP, with 20/25k weekly to pay exact amount you biught the car or a lil above the amount, just to make it real. The money can even come in handy in case the car has a major fault in future. He will be in charge of repairs and everything; with that he will learn to be responsible in taking care of the car as a car owner.

You may cancel the HP plan for him and handover the lil amount he has paid you (if you wish) after observing him and convinced he's focused.

Summary of post: Go and onboard/register on Uber. Don't put all your eggs in one basket (Bolt).

So, Bolt blocked me again yesterday for the third time. Same low rating reason (I've now been advised to proactively boost rating next time).
1st time was 24 hours, 2nd one week. I've written to them (email and driver app) and they've replied.
This block is indefinite, but definitely not permanent. As it's not fraud I'm optimistic I’ll be unblocked sooner or later.

My position on Bolt still remains that they empower Riders too much.
Their rating is based on only 40 recent trips, while Uber is based on 500 recent trips.
So if you do the maths (arithmetic mean ...average), a 1 star on Bolt has far more devastating impact.

Anyway, I've defaulted to Uber, like last time. And my yesterday experience has left me feeling like a fool all this time I was running Bolt package.
I can confidently say again that in Abuja you can afford to do only Uber and you'd be at par or even better than Bolt alone riders, or those that combine.
My reasons are stated below. I made more money the 8 hours I ran Uber alone yesterday, then the 10 - 12 hours I have been running both apps combined any day in the last 1 week.

1] Because Uber has far less drivers, almost every other trip is a surge!
2] Uber has cancellation fee. So as far as you arrive pick up spot, your effort will be appreciated.
3] The fact that waiting time automatically starts counting down once GPRS certifies you've arrived, Uber riders are much more disciplined in putting up accurate pick up spots, and they hardly cancel.
4] Uber is more expensive to ride, so naturally oshofree people tend to Bolt, with all their rudeness and frustration. While Uber is patronized by the much more affluent and courteous/polite people. Thus, you drive with greater peace of mind.
5] Because Uber riders are more affluent, if you're smart you stand to make more money.
-The trips are surges.
-They often leave change/tips for you (A lady paid me 2,000 for a 900 trip yesterday because she appreciated I could pick her up so late 11.30pm when she had given up hope).
-You can negotiate offline better. (Carried a guy yesterday on surge for 1,400. I dropped off and waited for him at his destination. 500 for 15 minutes. And then did the last trip leg to his house offline (500). I ended up getting 2,400 in 1-hour, same time of which on bolt might not have fetched me more than 1,000.
6] Airport advantage. Because you're carrying more affluent people, they are more likely to travel by plane interstate etc. From my yesterday’s trip I already have one confirmed airport offline tomorrow. Uber airport request are also given on First-Come-First-Serve basis. So, you can predict waiting times at airport unlike Bolt. Plus, fewer drivers means faster and more probably requests.
7] Bolt has the market share and serves much more request, but that extra time waiting for Uber request is valuable rest period for body.

Exactly my thought. When it's time to get free gift lot of strange monikers surfaces here claiming to be silent readers, but when it's time to dish out informations , they will go on sabbatical leave again.
If somebody can go from thread to thread begging for votes, what stop the same person from using the same energy to bring useful informations gathered from thread to thread ?
What is now the benefits of the active member of that comment informatively to help the newbies? When there is no bound criteria to be nominated.
If the active member nominated was unable to win the gift, then we should all keep our informations, just that newbies are d ones going to suffer for it.
I remember when madam Rad was doing give away during the lockdown. Lots of strange monikers too surfaces claiming to be silent readers.

I pay a little below a mil for only house rent per year for the family. I feed and do everything. If I tell him to take on family responsibilities, it'll be the same as telling him to do what he wants with the car. Truly, I know I won't get anything in return from the car but I just want to bill him so that he can learn responsibility the harsh way. Btw, any money he remits will all go back to him but I must put him on his toes.

mrsteel:

No there are other ways u can put him on his toes, by asking him to cover certain bills or taking care of your parents bills which u were doing before now that he is doing something. But telling ur blood brother to be remitting money to u weekly like what we see fellows do here is somehow to me. I don't know about ur family history though, but I know my mom will never be happy if he finds out I bought a car for my younger brother & collects weekly rental from him, when I am capable of gifting him the car. People spend millions sending their younger ones abroad, of which the family will also benefit in the long run, same should apply here. But telling him to balance u weekly no longer make u any different from what people like jpworld & dru are doing here & I don't see special help there considering d fact that both of u are of d same blood. Like I said in my first post, if u are capable of gifting him d car, gift it to him, designate some family responsibilities to him, but Don't collect weekly rental from him, unless u borrowed the money & let him know it is d reason u are collecting d weekly rental. We grow by helping other members of the family that is what many don't know.
