i understand that been rude and impolite is something personal but looking around, some professions habour large number of these rude and stern set of peeps and it makes me wonder..

1.Nurses; I recently went to a general hospital to see a friend and seeing the way these nurses handle patients makes me wonder if hostility is part of the nursing curriculum being taught in nursing school... A particular patient was screaming of pains and these nurses were just glued to their plasma television watching zeeworld.. I understand the work load is quite cumbersome but does that justify thier carlous attitude towards people they are meant to take care of...

2. Bankers; epecially the ones in the customer care stand...their attitude can be very annoying.

3.Nepa staff; hmmmm these ones ehn, their ear is selectively non receptive to the word "abeg"...most especially the ones assigned to disconnect light.

4. Doctors; though a few medical doctors are nice, there is still a large chunk of very rude medical doctors..u see them operating phone and chatting when a patient is right before them struggling for life.

This is not to say there aren't nice and dedicated staff in the above listed profesionals but a very good number of them are, in summary, quite rude to say the least..

yes i noticed it..when they go to these advanced climes, they suddenly become very mannered...most nurses in Nigeria have, sadly to say, lost that sense of empathy-which is suppose to be the very core of their profession- towards their own patients

Lack of equipment and unfavorable working conditions

1: They have always been rude: You are only noticing theirs or stereotyping it to their professions because they are public servants and interact more with people.

2: Power: Power, no matter how little intoxicates. When you know that you have the power to keep someone on the queue for flimsy reasons, you’ll be tested to push your limit.

3: No penalty for their actions: Especially the ones you find in government parastatals. Since they know no one would suspend or sack them for being rude, they have made it a standard.

4: Poor Pay/Work Pressure: A lot of offices/hospitals in Nigeria are understaffed. To worsen it, they are not well paid. So some of them are aggrieved, very aggrieved that they transfer the aggression on you. You might say, if you are not satisfied with the job, resign. It is not always that easy.

5: NIGERIANS WILL PUSH YOU TO THE WALL: I typed this one in caps intentionally. Nigerians will annoy you! When you work abroad, you may not have much need to be rude as the customers you are serving would make your work easier. But you see in Nigeria? Nigerians will jump the queue, Nigerians will address you rudely, Nigerians are always looking for who will lend them a pen, Nigerians will call an Uber driver and the first thing you hear is “Oga where are you?”... All these things have a way of slowly getting on your nerves and if you don’t watch it, you start being defensive- then RUDE/dismissive.

6: No incentive for being good: A lot of those rude people you see started off as model staff, but with time they were just overworked with nothing to show for it. They decided to join their colleagues in behaving nonchalantly. The happiness when that exemplary staff backslides is something else, you begin to wonder if people are normal at all.

7: Nigerians are angry/unhappy people... You don’t expect them to spread love and light. Use NL as a case study and you’ll understand my point.

There is really no justification for their rude behaviors, but you asked and I answered to the best of my ability.

Nigerian nurses are used as domestic servants by doctors that they are older than sometimes. This causes deep inferiority complex and aggression which they transfer on patients who book an appointment with a doctor through them . Each time a patient gets to a doctor through them in a hospital, they are reminded of their gross irrelevance in the scheme of things. Have you ever heard of "Nurses strike"? That's how irrelevant they are.

it's the Nigerian society that tolerates such. hence, professionals have free rein in behaving in ways they ought not. Also, an average Nigerian is unnecessarily proud and tend to abuse authority when you are at their mercy. In the Nigerian society, ego is put first before service and institutions are weak in ensuring ethics in professions are adhered to. Majority of these persons you think are rude would not in any way behave same to persons they percieve are in a higher social strata . They only exhibit such when dealing with persons they feel cannot be of help to them or cause them to face some disciplinary actions . these same persons would act differently when in organized societies with working instutions and laws .

mostly are frustrations.......like working as an elephant and receiving the payment of an ant. ...but some are pure winch even if you dash them the whole establishment they must be stupidly rude and arrogant

No lies school admins. Most especially those women wey dey stay faculty, Senate or do secretary for HOD or Dean. They are extremely rude and arrogant.

I remembered back then in school what some of us passed through just to do our final year clearance. The way those idiots look down on students ehn. I remember my own case in 400l. I was advised to write a letter to the dean concerning a missing script. Wrote the letter well in plain white paper and proceeded to his office. I met his sec and greeted. Then in their usual demeaning way of responding with "How are you", she answered. Meanwhile she was eating. I explained myself but she didn't even do like say person dey follow am talk. I stood for like 5 min and all of a sudden she shouted '" young man don't be stupid , you can see I'm eating , will you get out of this place. ". She proceeded to insult me in Yoruba too. Out of embarassment, I went out and went back in again after like 30 min. I waited for 30min to be sure she must have finished her food coz I no want another round of embarassment. So I got in greeted and re explained myself. She dey use me watch television . After standing for about 5 min she stretched her hands signifying me to hand the paper over to her. Then in her words she was like "did you pick this paper out of the dustbin"
She tore it, threw it at me and asked me to get out. As I was going out, she still called me back and asked me to pick up the mess (torn paper) on the floor.

I kept my cool coz I no want situation where person go mark my face and dey find my matric number .
