First as you get the job you get orientation, part of the orientation is smile at customers or clients, talk politely and stand up if you can... Cameras are everywhere and your supervisor or manager has the CCTV screen in his office, customer and clients have feedback chanels everywhere ,a query means suspension without pay, 3 queries is straight sack

In Nigeria no checks and balances, no quality control, nothing nothing

Anybody that is a position that makes them feel like you need them more than they need you is rude in this country. It is the attitude embedded in most Nigerians. For instance, most real estate agents are very rude when they know that they get many calls from different clients each day. And you can get into another bank and the customer care representatives there will be very nice to you due to low patronage.

It's not limited to these professionals, the average Nigerian is aggressive and hostile, the society made them who they have turned out to be.
And no sir, when they go to advanced climes, those who are inherently aggressive remain aggressive.
Many colleagues have come to me to complain about my Nigerian colleagues who are aggressive and I just smile and tell them it wasn't intentional.

Really, i do not blame them one bit. The thing is, most people would rather talk first than think because they've got 'these' particular set of people that must listen. I remember when i was the corper's liason officer of my local government. I remember how particularly tiring and frustrating it was to explain things to people, things that a normal human with an average intelligence will take a few seconds to ponder upon and figure out but these corpers would rather keep asking dumb questions just because i must listen and reply. Imagine filling out a form and just because you're asked in different section what your state code is, you'll now enquire from me if you really have to fill all of them because you've filled one already.

What do you expect in an environment where there is no discipline. When last did you hear of certificate of practice being withdraw because of misconduct? So, our professional bodies are largely like a cult. That's why you can see people dying in our various hospitals and nobody ever get punished.

The jobs you mentioned come into lots of spotlight because they are largely client-based... It has absolutely nothing to do with any job description, just the person, just the average individual in a nation where rudeness is encouraged, condoned, even overlooked or encouraged.

Market women and men (especially in the South)
Celebrities (real and pseudo)
Security agents and guards
Government officials
Even religious leaders...
Etc...

The worst of them are those that work in a school clinic. Very lazy set of people not all of them though. They we set drip for you and we not even come back to check it. You have to send someone to call them when it done. All they do is watch Africa magic yoruba

1.Nurses; I recently went to a general hospital to see a friend and seeing the way these nurses handle patients makes me wonder if hostility is part of the nursing curriculum being taught in nursing school... A particular patient was screaming of pains and these nurses were just glued to their plasma television watching zeeworld.. I understand the work load is quite cumbersome but does that justify thier carlous attitude towards people they are meant to take care of...

2. Bankers; epecially the ones in the customer care stand...their attitude can be very annoying.

3.Nepa staff; hmmmm these ones ehn, their ear is selectively non receptive to the word "abeg"...most especially the ones assigned to disconnect light.

4. Doctors; though a few medical doctors are nice, there is still a large chunk of very rude medical doctors..u see them operating phone and chatting when a patient is right before them struggling for life.

This is not to say there aren't nice and dedicated staff in the above listed profesionals but a very good number of them are, in summary, quite rude to say the least..

It.depends on your approach. A soldier man wanted to be annoyed with me, I didn't know there was a road block, I thought the car before me was doing sluggish and I wanted to do fast one.

When I saw the soldiers, I stopped. As they wanted to ask me to park and come down. I greeted morn sir, and I gave them a beautiful smile. The men became very soft and I started cracking jokes with them. We ended up discussing issues and where I did my NYSC. We laughed and shared pleasantries and I was asked to go.

So, at times we need to be patient and understand the situations of others.

Like the guy talking about the universities admin officers. Some of them also would have loved to be a university student and become a big person after school, but did not have the opportunity. When you get to their office, you behave rudely to them, shout on them, called them stupid, sluggish, they too will use the power of their office that period to mess you up.

Before you judge others, put yourself in their shoes.
