If Nigerian historians could paint Gowon as a war hero and saint, only for him to be exposed to be a pilferer like this, then I wonder how much Nigerian government and historians have twisted the Nigerian civil war story |

Nigeria is cursed and the curse goes thus... All those born pre Civil war must die for Nigeria to rise. A generation must die for the blood it has shed. |

Once they are handed seal of authority, the main attention is the treasury and every germaine obligation becomes needless. This is why no matter who gets to be the president, will authomatically change over night cos they would have secure a centuries assurances of generations unborn by stealing both present and future of the country. Again I'm vindicated, Nigeria can never be a great nation, instead those who want to continue to milk it won't stop using all their stolen resources to fight to keep it in shambles. People like Dangote who have succeeded in monopolises the country's productions. I will say it again, we are too religious, ethnic bigotry and tribal sentiments to continue to pretend that we can live as one indivisibility. Hausa/Fulani, have a grand plan and they won't stop until it is materialize. The main aims, is to occupy the entire south thereby resisting possible disintegration of the country. Southerners should wake up from her slumber!!! |

ednut1:Nigerian leaders start looting the day they enter office. He knew his days were numbered after he took over power in a coup. He saw what was happening in neighbouring African countries were leaders were getting assasinated. He had to save for the rainy day by keeping 50% of our money in United Kingdom and making himself the sole signatory to the accounts. |

Gowon was removed from power in a coup while he was in Uganda. What time did he have to loot half of the central bank and come to London after his coup? Why didnt the government of Muritala request the funds transferred to London. There is no way that money that huge will leave the shores of Nigeria and not be noticed by the succeeding government. Also, he came back to Nigeria and nothing was done about it. I am not defending nobody. This UK parliament man was probably a child when this thing happened. We need strong proof to verify this actually happened. Verbal assertions is not enough. We were sure of what Obasanjo did. We had proof of what Abacha did. So let the proofs come out. |

Neddstark:Gowon was Head of State from 1966-1975(9 years). Do you think he would he have waited until he was toppled in a coup before he started looting. IBB was President from 1985-1993 and he reportedly stole over $10 billion dollars. And Abacha didn't request for it because he had plans to loot his own billions. Absulami Abubakar was Head of State for 9 months and emptied the Central Bank of billions of dollars and OBJ didn't request any back because he planned to loot his own billions.

Neddstark:What facts do you need that IBB,Abdusalami,Tinubu,Saraki or Dino Melaye stole? This is coming from United Kingdom, they have their facts and know their customers that hide their loot in their country. It might have been a gross exageration, but the parliamentarian knows Gowon stored some of his loot in United Kingdom or one of their tax havens like Jersey or Isle of Man. |

RuudVanNisteroy:This was a verbal assertion from a young MP. Please I am not arguing or defending nobody. Adesina was accused of non-transparency in his first term as president of AFDB by the West but was cleared. GEJ was accused of preventing the rescue of the Chibok girls by the UK media but he gave his defense. Gowon was never a saint, but an allegation of that magnitude needs ample proof sir. |
