Hi, I will strongly advice you do your medicals at Qlife, it's currently cheaper and organized (from my experience & others). For Police report, you can get this done at Alagbon. The price was mentioned in a past thread, I can give you a contact there to call, he was quite helpful for mine.
West0099:
Please can someone help me on the medicals aspect pls i did my biometric last month want to do the medicals and police report all upfront.

Start calling by 9.05am. Do well to disturb them. It seems that they are also arbitrarily returning passports. You need to "induce" them via calls and emails to return your own travel document. This is Nigeria!

An update/tracking diary on my application.
Applied Nov. 3rd
Biometrics done: Nov. 13th
Did upfront Medical: Nov. 19th
Medicals updated as Passed: Nov. 27th
Biometrics updated to completed: Nov. 30th.
So it currently says my Background check is being processed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A question though, do we get to get an email when the background check is updated and eligibility review starts? Or are they done side by side and get completed together? **Ans. for me: Never got a mail, it just changed on the portal
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally, I decided to send webforms and mails to Beijing & Nairobi asking that my application be processed via NSE route, then I attached the MyBankStatement and IELTS Academic documents. (Note: I did not get the NSE invite mail, so I just basically tried for trying sake since I have the docs)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update**
Dec 3rd, 9pm ish, Logged into CIC to see that the eligibility review has started. It was not there earlier today as at 5pm and I also did not get any mail notification for this update.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update***
Dec 7th, sent a webform (requesting NSE & attaching extra supporting documents) to Nairobi and sent same content in mails to Nairobi, Lagos and Beijing.
Dec 8th, got something that looks like a ghost update on the portal.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update****Day 14 of Eligibility review.
Dec 16th, sent 5 mails (Nairobi, Pretoria, Lagos...etc) & 1 webform to London containing my NSE documents. At this point almost all November
applicants have gotten the NSE request but I am yet to get, I take it that it likely means they have seen that I have the requested documents so no need to ask for it.

For those who have received medical examination instructions before or know what the letter looks like, please I have a question. Does this down part circled in red indicate the date the letter was made by vfs? For example, in this particular one, does it mean the applicant got a medical examination instruction letter on 6-2020 (June 2020)??
Please I need urgent answer to this up. Check the image I attached.

I got a mail when the eligibility review started on my application. I can’t say if it was the same for others. Who knows it might just appear on your GCkey.

This is a full thread of my application, i would make it as concise as possible.
Application date: Sept 7th (with previous biometrics)
School: Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
course: Electronics Engineering (Diploma)

Forms submitted :
ALL IMM forms, Int passport, Passport photograph etc

Client Information:
SOP -one page (I made 2 typo errors I wanted to cry when I found out)
Letter of guardianship from my siblings in Canada (i encourage anybody that has a sibling in Canada to do this, whether you are above 21 or below)
Letter of recommendation from my place of work (didn't include employment letter and paystub)- IT Systems Administrator for 3 years
Waec certificate year 2009, I forgot to include my Bsc and I didn't include my NYSC as well

Proof of funds:
sponsorship letter from my parents
Receipt of Full first year tuition payment
Mother bank statement (Canadian bank) showing 10k cad
Dad's bank statement showing 1.3m naira

Took the leap of faith by doing upfront medicals when I waited for over 2 months and no response.
Med passed in 5 days
6 days later BVL and PPR..

I thank God for this, and also I am highly grateful for everybody that contributed one way or the other.
There isn't any method to the Canada application, just do your due diligence, be patient, and pray.

Just book your medical with QLIFE. Don’t bother to try IOM at all. Someone here complained that IOM is no longer attending to upfront medical.

Alright boss i will do that...1 more questions pls when I go for upfront do i have to carry anything with me and will i be submitting anything online

Were you able to reach them? I called them with the second number and it was directing me to another thing entirely. I selected Schengen visa and told the agent to transfer me to the Canada section. It finally worked and after lamenting my situation, they said the normal "we are working on it". These guys seem to be heartless. If they can't send it via courier, they should allow me pick up my passport in-person. The Lagos VFS is the truly definition of "village people".

Hi West009, i recently read complaints about IOM not accepting Upfront medical applicants for now except you have a medical request from IRCC, i am not sure if this is still the case as at date, i think you should try QLife and they are even more cheaper only you would have to plan your route to Victoria Island as thats where they are located in Lagos. You can check their web https://www.qlifefamilyclinic.com/cim-terms-and-conditions for more details.

The Police Character Certificate is not compulsory but no harm if you can try getting this just to strengthen your application.

All the very best.

Thanks alot boss

Congrats to all making progress and to all waiting, may you get good news soon.

@Fratermathy, how many years do Phd students usually get for their TRV? Is there a fixed number of years or it varies?

On the passport submission issue, I think Abuja VO is quite efficient. Submitted PP on 23/11 and got counterfoil yesterday. As at this morning, I have gotten the VFS mail that says PP ready for collection. I used 2 way courier, so I’d come back to drop feedback on that once I get my PP.

PhD students usually get 4 years, depending on the expiration date on your passport. Even if you get less than 4 years, you shouldn't worry. You can always renew these things from inside Canada.

Hi guys, please I have a quick question.

Can I book directly on flight website rather than using third party websites.

Can I book directly in Ethiopian airline website instead of booking on wakanow or travelstart.

Please respond with your opinion and advice guys. Thanks.

Yes. But use their app, it is 10% cheaper.

I was finally able to reach one now, and she said she can’t find any mail from me. That I should try sending it tomorrow coz their mailbox is full and call when I send it (seems they usually delete messages) I immediately sent it again and got an acknowledgement that it delivered. Now to reach them again na war
