This recommendation is fair, though I don't agree with recommendation for FCMB.

Exactly what I was about to type.

Why will there be buy recommendation for Fidelity and then sell for fcmb?

If fidelity is a buy, then fcmb is also a buy. Na my own be that. grin

It seems fair to me too; but our market hardly have stocks moving in isolation. Its usually a general bull or bear; hence it is difficult to predict stock movements in isolation.

However, DY, PAT and EPS might be fundamental in determining share prices in H1 2021

Remember that FCMB had always trailed Fidelity. What fundamental change pushed FCMB ahead?

Chai, I remember the bull of 2017, moving Fidelity from 0.70 and dividend of 10k I think....

There was overtaking. grin
Also, Fcmb has been known to have very active and responsive MM.
I still want to believe Fidelity will take its place back one day........that's if fcmb agrees sha. cheesy

I read somewhere that when there's sideways trading in the market, the best thing to do is to do nothing in the market but hold cash.
How true is this?
Does it mean when market is trading flat, downside could be greater than upside?
Just wondering.

Better to hold solid stocks and also hold cash. Either way, you can take advantage of any sudden uptrend in the market.

Lol. The job I gave myself. grin
We've sometimes talked about it one time like that ......and I remembered saying this is what I do for myself as a trader, just extending it here.
Some of my Ogas were against it that time but some want it, so I'm just trying to maintain the balance, hope I'm actually maintaining balance without some itchy fingers emotionally acting on my updates.
Reason we put caveat and advice against emotional trading too.

Waoh! Thanks.
This is one good way to handle the situation.
However, those with limited funds won't be able to successfully practice this.
Should we now say, holding cash is the best bet for those set of investors? OR
Buy and just close eyes to up/down mvmt of prices?

Its better to hold because you may be catching a falling knife if you enter.

Don't you think doing this depends on the general situation of the market and the season in view?
The type of investor someone is also plays a role here I guess.
Looking at current market situation especially, I think maintaining both like PharmAlfred said is much better.....heavy cross deals, investors interests, expectation of FYE, low rate of fixed income instruments, etc.
This is just my opinion anyway.

It is best to hold Cash and High yield Dividend-paying stock on a sideways Market.

Highly surprised by this statement.
The only reason Jesse Livermore lost all the 150 m dols he made after years of ups and down was because he didn’t respect the game. It’s dangerous to just be buying for buying sake. But only when it’s time to buy. When the market is unsure sit on your cash and if you are anxious about waiting distract your self with temporary project or employment and leave the market. Anything else and ... undecided

I think a lot of people have inching fingers.

They just want to be buying and selling without profits.

If you hold cash, the uptrend may come like a thief in the night like we noticed in the last bull. If you don't have TA skills you may not even know at what point to enter. You may stay undecided while you keep thinking the rally is a fluke and correction will soon happen.. Don't look like market will fall further, best to key in especially for those with limited funds.
