@all I have just concluded an extensive research generally on Cryptos and on bitcoin in particular and have resolved to buy some bitcoin and maybe some etherum to hold as buffer against Naira devaluation. At this stage I need the guidance of Nsempa members that have diversified into Cryptos on a)whether to wait for bitcoin to pullback before entering or it is better to enter right away. b) from point of view of capital preservation and possibly appreciation, is it better to buy bitcoin or etherum? c) which is the best exchange/app to use in buying Cryptos in Nigeria when the aim is not to trade, regarding safety, ease of withdrawal and low fees and d) If a trade fails is it that the exchange already know my Cryptos code for the brief period they have it in escrow? I am sorry to bring Cryptos questions to this thread but I know this is where I can get unbiased answers. Thanks
Here isn't a CRYPTO thread na

By the way, how do they classify the major and minor investor.

Imagine that I traveled those days from east to Lagos, and to that their chemist or what, to buy the share. Now they are paying me back this way. I would have been better they go down like other insurance companies, than to do this kind thing.

I think you are onto sonething really really profound here...

If I were to give my own 2 cent opinion, I'll advice you do the following

1. Rather than one month, look at a 1 year time line
2. Buy the 10 worst performers for the out going year and hold them for the next year.
3. Sell them at the end of that year and use the proceeds to buy the 10 worst performers for the year now ending

I strongly feel you'll have better results using this parameters...

All the very best. If you can do this, it would be I teresting to see the results...

Thanks!

I changed a few things and the results where kind of good.

1. I used quarters as the holding period - It seems quarters are moderately long but not too long that the strategy loses its effectiveness.

2. I implemented deviation from maximum value within the quarter as my screen - Choose one stock that closed on the last day of the period the lowest from that period maximum closing price. I assumed that by closing the farthest from its quarter high it would have bottomed out.

3. With a starting 1 mil account, the biggest loss was from UnityBank in 2015-Q3 (500K), the biggest gain was from DangoteFlour in 2016-Q1 (1.1M).

4. It also performed very well this year(Note that my data stops at 20th of November) with a profit of 79% (799K). Overall it averaged 47% annually.

5. It still requires a lot of testing as my program may have bugs that may have affected values.

grin grin grin wink

Have you ever done any analysis on Afriprud? Help me point touch light on am

You are referring to the intrinsic value analysis of Afriprud like the one my namesake did for DangCement below?

ositadima1:

Not quite.
Once again, I pulled Dangote Cement PLC annual reports from 2010 to 2019 and this is what i saw:

The big Five
Sales (revenue): growth (or contraction) for the last 9 years ==> 17.9% (Compound Annual Growth Rate).
EPS: growth (or contraction) for the last 9 years ==> 5.96% (Compound Annual Growth Rate).
Equity: growth (or contraction) for the last 9 years ==> 17.43% (Compound Annual Growth Rate).
Free Cash Flow: growth (or contraction) for the last 9 years ==> 21.95% (Compound Annual Growth Rate).
Long Term Debt-to-Free Cash Flow: 0.55 (pretty good)

Notes:
Not bad as per Nigerian standard. Though, Sales, EPS, and Equity slowed down last year (2019) at -1.06%, -48% and -8.99% respectively. I assume the harsh economy took a toll on the stock.

Next, Discounted cash flow (DCF) valuation

1.) Assuming 5.96% growth (EPS above) and 15% (MoS in view) rate of return projected for the next 10 years and then discounted for MoS. Buy price would be pegged at not more than 140.59 per share.

2.) Assuming 15% growth (Equity above) and 15% (MoS in view) rate of return projected for the next 10 years and then discounted for MoS. Buy price would be pegged at not more than 227.55 per share.

Conclusions: If you can snatch it at less than 140, u are very ok.

Also, better to buy when MACD, Stochastic and MA align and echo buy!
Due diligence applies as these numbers may be off the mark. grin grin cheesy

Unfortunately, the spreadsheet I used for these computations are in a computer that I will not have access to for a couple of weeks.

Yes something like this. You did not save in the cloud?
Na your office PC for offshore?

Then for DangCem, I thought below N160 should bee good? that still has a dividend yield of around 10%

Which kind markdown is this?
How did they calculate the markdown price?

Heishere:

The bonus is 240%
Divide 2.20 (closing price) by 2.4 = 0.92

...but when I divide closing price by 3.42 = 0.64

I don't know where the 3.42 came from anyway. grin

By the time bonus is added and reconstruction price adjusted, it will make more sense I blvd.

Mansard is currently on full bid........any price below 90kobo should be good to go.........this is just my opinion, I never check their numbers.

That, in accordance with Sect ion 101 of CAMA and Article 44 of the Articles; the nominal value of the issued ordinary shares of the Company be and is hereby altered from 50 kobo each to N2.00K each, by the consolidation of every four (4) shares held by each shareholder into one (1) share.

That the consolidation shall be deemed to take effect on 31st December 2020.

Thank you.
However, the last part will happen after the addition of 7:17 bonus and not before.

For someone with 7000units for instance, it will be:

7000/7 = 1000 X 17 + 7000 = 24,000units

24,000units/4 = 6000units X N2 = N12,000

Your initial 7000units purchase, if you buy at 2.30 for example is N16,100 + fees.

After reconstruction, price might not be less than N4 or thereabout..........at least, the share price is not expected to fall below N2 by then.........let's keep watching how they'll go about sha. smiley

I agree with you, but the Market can price it below N2( I hope not it doesn't happen).

It is better and safer to load it below N1.

Mcy what are u doing.
Let me steal your thing small. Market sentiment looking one kind. Seems to be positive
Generally stock seems to be in 'gbe bodi e' mood. Looks like a desperate attempt to keep price down ongoing at UBA and Access - huge bids deliberately placed at the bottom of the pile.
Let's continue watching

People who are interested in Mansard would have gotten their bonus by now without waiting for the day registrar will add it to them.
Buying at it mark down price with same worth of money one will even get more bonus if the price goes down more from its markdown price.
I doubt if bargainers will allow the price go down below markdown price.
Below N1 is still a good buy self.
