Good one. I am starting a business by March. I am resigning my 8-5 job.

I am praying I make success of it along the line.
If your feeding and utility bills are not foregone, don't make that move, bro

Your last sentence is the end result.
The Bible says, train up a child in the way he should grow, so that when he is old he will...

A new business is a child, you have to nurture and train and mould it to what you want it to become, your business will in turn reward you for all the dedication and commitment.

Be patient a little more.

Nice words from you.

Thank you, I appreciate!

I just checked dat my last post on dis site was actually a year ago Dec 24th 2019, feels like yesterday.
Time waits for no man.

I started wholesale drinks 24th August dis yr, I bought 500pcks of coca cola products ie coke, fanta, sprite @ #875 per one pack total #437500, resell @ #900 per pack to beat competition in area n cos am a newbie in d wholesale drinks biz so i gat introduce myself wit cheap prices, d profit seem low but I calculated dat if I cud sell 500packs per month, d r.o.i is still better Dan t-bills at 14% per annum, since august i v bought d #500 packs 4 times, am currently on fourth stock wic is currently being sold @#1050 per pack cos d festive period but I got d last stock at #925 per pack tho, no discount cos my supplier claim there is scarcity wic is true.
I v sold Mr V. Plastic water ard 900 packs too, shud v been more but due to scarcity in dis period.
Next year am going bigger.
Life no easy, jus think hard, don't waste ur time, n u will find a way out.

This is vintage.

I am really impressed at how well you focused on the big picture.

The biggest problem of many would be entrepreneurs is their consistent analysis of profitability. While it is important to weigh your options I can assure you that when it comes to FMCG products there is no losing long term. If the poster above had decided that the profit was too marginal he would never have embarked on the mission.

You can imagine he started out with zero profit per pack of drinks. But within one month he turned over the money 4 times and if you observe closely you would also notice the profit per unit increasing gradually.

Whenever I see a particular business proliferating I always make inquiries and recently, the soft drinks/bottled water sub-sector has exploded phenomenally. The profit margins may be low but the demand is tremendous. For some reason meeting demand has been impossible. I understand that some retailers do as much as 5000 packs per month. Now even if the profit is just 50.00, multiply it by the volume and voila you would arrive at the gross profit. I think it's a very worthwhile venture.

Congratulations bro for taking the first step. It's usually the most difficult of them all.

please sir can you tell me about egg distribution business. I have been trying to get into that business but I have little knowledge of it. I will be glade if you could reply me and give me the link also of the thread you mentioned here( BLACKY) thanks as I get a response from you.

So sorry, I may not have the time to lead you there and secondly my knowledge may also be inadequate. All I can tell you is that it's like selling cocaine. It's very fast moving and the demand is just crazy.

Why not read up about the egg business here;

Mine is not actually business but freelanceing.

I quit my job as a solar engineer and started programming
I learnt programming January 2017, I didn't spend money on a school, just data and youtube. I also had great mentors because it wasn't easy. 6 months later I got into Andela as an intern and that was it.
An intern then was earning about a 100k, the good thing about Andela is that you can freelance while you do your 9-5 job, I was freelancing with Codementor and Upwork.
2 years coding professionally, I was able to earn from my 9-5 job and freelancing amounting to about 500k monthly.
I left my company around April to focus on freelancing, then covid struck, it affected everyone. I was jobless till October before I got a Job with a US firm that pays $31/hour, 40 hours a week.

The good thing about been a programmer is you can work anytime of the day, the market is not limited to nigeria as you can find job in anywhere in the world while working from home and finally you paid in dollars.

I don't know if this information is about business but I think everyone cannot do business. Besides Business is not limited to buying and selling, a skill you have can also do that, the most important thing is your bringing food to the table

Pls bro
.
What's ur niche in programming...

If you can hire a manager to oversee the business while he reports to you on daily basis. he will help to mitigate their pilfering, and wasteful habit. I can do that for you, if you don't see changes you can terminate my appointment. let me what you think about my proposal.

It is all right . You can still follow the suggestion by getting someone who is trustworthy to manage it. You should make sure you vet the person's integrity.

Alright, I see your determination. I may consider opening a free mentorship slot come January.

If there is one thing I was though in Andela, is to give back knowledge and mentorship. If i can get 20 serious people with PC and are determined, I may just mentor for free again.

I need advice on how to manage my workers.

They steal, they lie, they waste resources. They try to manipulate the records, they take advantage of my tiredness after I close from my place of work.

I never knew my staff were going to be my greatest challenge. It's so frustrating.

I really need help from the more experienced business men.
Do you run the business yourself or on the side?

I've a 7 to 6 job Monday to Friday and on Saturdays I'm in school. I can't do it all myself but my workers are young girls (between 19 to 21) they require close supervision.

I also have a manager who seems to want to have a fling with all the workers. He is too busy forming innocent fine boy. Because of this he is unable to put my business above his personal needs.

What I need is a competent and committed manager.

If your question is an attempt to decide whether resigning would be good idea or bad one, forget it. My letter is ready.

Even if the business doesn't come out as expected, may God never make me see things that would make me go back to 8-5
