Hello. I dunno if I can get help. I don't really know the specs of these cars. But I believe we got people with great experience here. My Dad's retired and wants to get one of these and we are actually inexperienced with cars outside Toyota.

What's the difference between ZDX and Crosstour? They have the same parent company.
It is like comparing Lexus vs Toyota. If I were to advise him, I'd suggest Lexus/Toyota.

A retiree shouldn't touch BMW X5 especially the 4.8L or 4.4L engines. He shouldn't waste his retirement funds on expensive car repairs.

These cars are luxury cars, I’m surprised no one is talking abt the BMW. That’s a super car and the rest on your list don’t measure!

So if it’s value for money you want and the prestige that comes with it, go for the BMW.

ZDX is an Acura brand, the luxury arm of Honda. Just as Lexus is to Toyota. Definitely a wayyy better ride than the crosstour, but of course you can’t compare to a German machine!

Crosstour is a failed attempt by Honda to mimic the successful Toyota brand called Venza. A mid-range high performance vehicle that appears to look like an accord made out with a Pilot lol. Trust me the interior is same as that of accord 012 above. If you’ve driven such car before you’ll definitely hate this Crosstour. In short I doubt that it’s still in production. Accord parts fit it well that’s why pple will say it’s parts are cheap.

Summary: if you popcy hold side well o, get the BMW
If your popcy still hold him rep go for ZDX.
Ditch the crosstour idea.

As for those saying Honda dey pull leg, I have used honda from 86 model, halla, bulldog, baby boy, all the versions of accord from 03 to 14. Currently on 14. I have never for once had such experience. It’s just bad drivers with poor maintenance culture that experience such.
Abeg tell them oh.

@OP, the above is the most sensible comment I've read. For a man going into retirement, non of the cars on his list fits.
Thanks bro. The old man wan give himself bp and unnecessary attention, that is, if op is saying the truth.
Re: Acura ZDX, Honda Crosstour And The BMW X5 by zivility: 8:42pm On Dec 29, 2020
If he really wants the BMW he should go for the rwd only model with the non turbo charged engine! That's how he can enjoy the bmw. Also the issue with BMW is over heating due to plastic parts breaking in the cooling system. Google YouTube for BMW maitainance advice

And all you talking about Honda's axle n tires i been using a Honda fr the past 10 years n nothing like that has happened, go and learn how to maintain a car, no be only on n drive... service it more often
No mind them, the Honda SUV currently using has been for 3 years going with steady maintenance. Maintenance and careful driving is key to enjoying your car.
Re: Acura ZDX, Honda Crosstour And The BMW X5 by grandee4u(m): 8:48pm On Dec 29, 2020
These 3 SUV are amazing but if I'm to recommend, I'll advise you go for the Honda Crosstour. This is because

*It's the most fuel efficient car amongst all three of em

*It's body and engine parts/components are easy to find, less expensive and it's an easy car to maintain, amongst other reasons.

Nevertheless, if you're someone that just needs a car undermining it maintenance cost or any other related cost...you actually need the bmw X5. The X5 isn't a fuel efficient car but it's a high performance car and high performance in a car is accompanied with a tougher/stiffer suspension, multiple driving modes, a possible RWD 4WD or AWD systems, superb traction control, four wheel braking system and also increased safety features.
Note: BMW parts with it's engine main and peripheral components aren't too scarce though but it isn't like the Honda parts that can be found in almost all spareparts market, showroom or store. So the choice is yours between high fuel efficiency, low maintenance cost Vs low fuel efficiency(because the X5 is an all wheel drive car AWD), high performance engine and extra safety.

Of the three, the BMW is the most durable, but it's parts are expensive. BMW on a normal day should not be put in the category of those cars, they are inferior to it.

BMW is definitely NOT durable, it's a money pit. Avoid!

if your dad is retired let him enjoy the latter part of his life. Get a BMW. I use one and I can tell you that he won't have a better driving experience. And yes I have driven the others. As long as he keeps to the maintenance regime, the BMW is what he should get

so the OP was here for advice on 3 different cars
the OP mention that the only experience the pop man got is on Toyota
so it's clear the pop man in his old age want to taste something flashy and different from a Toyota

what did Toyota fans did ?

they all advice OP pop man to go back and buy Toyota ...as in the OP pop man must drive Toyota till death do him and life apart

why is stupidity not far from Toyota fans ? with the way they all condemn Honda
you will think you can't see Toyota in mechanic workshop.....but go take a look , they constitutes 75% of cars in mechanic workshop, don't argue , just go to any workshop, snap it comprehensively in one shoot , let's do the car comparison there

Go for Honda Cross Tour. Cheaper parts than ZDX and BMW.

Infact, runaway from that ZDX. Parts are as expensive as kilode.

This depends on where you live.

In Canada, the difference is nothing compared.

I would advice you go for the BMW x5, preferably diesel. It doesn't break down only if not maintenance issues or you crash it. As a matter of fact that vehicle communicates to the driver in some type way if you understand. Damn that leather the back lights at night. I say no more
you know good something

You guys are very funny. I don’t know why people run away from very durable and luxury car and still affordable when it comes to fuel consumption and general maintenance. I have been using BMW X5 For more than 6 years, I have a sedan too, I don’t think I will use any other vehicle except a BMMER. Once you drive a BMMER you will never go back, to Japanese instead another German machine.

You have the money sir

You are probably the first human on earth to ever say this. Only extremely few cars on earth are as durable as BMW's. Little wonder, my dad's 3 series of over 20 years is still intact till this day... What about speed and performance? Beamer got it... I don't know your BMW experience, but Beamer is King!!!

Actually the BMW is the best among them but when ein wahala start....na u go run, not all mechanic can handle them too (they'll damage it the more). Since ur popsy na partially old man, I won't advice him to go for it

ZDX is good but kind of more expensive and slightly scarce body parts (depending on ur location)

Let him go for crosstour; easier to maintain compared to the remaining two, spare parts are readily available, most mechanic can handle them

To me... Lexus Rx350 would be better (luxury, handling, maintenance, ruggedity)

My 50cent undecided

Where are those "Benz or nothing crew".... I'm afraid they'll hijack this thread

Nothing to hijack here
