We live in dangerous times and there is a modesty that is most prudent. While I was at the university the daughter of a serving governor ate in the same wooden shack buka with us despite deluxe eateries around. I can tell you she was the most respected person we knew in the faculty, well loved. (We also knew her DSS guard who also attended classes with her, she obviously read him orders never to harass peops). She donated towards parties and picnics. The girl humble die. Rich kids don't help themselves with the need to brashly show off. Yes, the money is yours but why paint a bullseye on yourself for other frustrated peops to execute target practice. We live in dangerous times! undecided
U cant compare someone that has been in wealth since birth to someone that the father made money when he orvshe was already grown up... u cant force rich kids to b like how u want them to b...to them, they are just living g their lives , to the poor one, they are showing off

There's nothing to elaborate. It's very straightforward:

If you must know I not a rich man’s son but I did experience something like this growing up just because my father built a storey building in the 70’s. The folks in my small village were literally green with envy even though my folks were barely comfortable.

As to becoming what I’m condemning, I wonder where you got such a crazy idea - nothing could be farther from the truth.

I’m not spewing hate upandan, I’m all about entrenching a kumbaya social culture.

Dude, since u aren't a rich mans kid& u say u aren't spewing hate, who now commissioned u to be their mouthpiece or defense attorney?

According to u:

"Instead of hating divert that energy into making money so your kids won’t be just like you."

Instead of spending time defending rich men's kids, y not "divert that energy into making money so your kids won't just be like you".

Isn't that u becoming what u are condemning?

I've come to understand that it's almost normal for the hoi polloi to hate privileged people. I don't really understand the psychology behind that but I know it's unhealthy and silly. Instead of misdirecting such misguided hate on people whose fathers made money why not hate your father who couldn't make it.

Take for instance, a few years ago Paddy Adenuga had published an inspiring article where he shared his struggles in business and how he succeeded, but in a bizarre twist of narrative the haters attacked him and alluded to the fact that his father's money did this and did that.

Shortly after, Dj Cuppy was also bullied online by people who believes she has no business being a dj, let alone a popular one at that. To them it's her affluent background that's doing the trick not her talent.

The same with Davido. No matter what he does, how many awards he wins, or cool tunes he drops, he'll never be good enough for these people who believe he didn't earn his place at the table.

Instead, they revere and respect those they think are from the streets even when these people are nothing short of mediocre. A case in point is the current frosty relationship between Davido and Burna boy, how did it all start? Both of them were chummy until Burna boy made a disparaging remark about Davido's father buying fame for him. This was not only in bad taste but smacks of obvious jealousy. That you struggled to climb up the ladder due to lack does not make you better, or mean that those who have the resources to advance their dreams or careers must suffer like you before their talents can be validated.

And if the eyewitness account in the media is anything to go by, then it’s obvious that this unfortunate incident was all Burna boys doing. He showed up at the club with 6 hired goons and went straight to the VIP section where Davido was sitting to confront him. Although this is yet to be verified but judging from Burna boy’s propensity for violence it is highly probable that is what happened.

It’s time people do away with this wrong notion that privileged kids don’t deserve what they have. No matter how hard they work there’s always someone who thinks that without their money they’d probably not make it that far, but nothing could be farther from the truth. These kids work just as hard as the poor kids, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with using what you have to advance yourself. I mean you can’t hate on these kids just for being rich as if they’re the ones that stopped your father from making money. It’s wrong and it’s in bad taste.

Instead of hating divert that energy into making money so your kids won’t be just like you. Shout out to David. Keep keeping it a 100.
Yes, people should not waste their time with jealousy, but I will play devil's advocate. These same rich kids constantly show off their fortunes on social media. Why is that? What do they gain from it? Of course, it strokes their ego -- they love rubbing the fact that "I have more than you" on other people's face. Of course, they will gain envy. Of course, they will make people jealous. It's like someone dangling a delicious piece of meat right in front of your face knowing full well that they won't give it to you. Those rich kids lack empathy. I have no empathy for them. They should learn to be humble, they should learn to not show off, they should understand that some people, some of their audiences, can even afford a 3 square meal.
Re: The Misguided Hate On Nigerian Rich Kids - Opinion by King44(m): 3:50am On Dec 31, 2020
It's normal to hate on rich kids same way people hate on people who made it from nothing, there has been no difference... The only difference is that people may taunt you with your father's wealth sometimes.... Once you are rich people would hate on you.

That aside... What is happening between Davido and Burna boy is not about a poor kid who made it vs a rich kid who made it but it's a matter of pride, arrogance, plain stupidity and a knack for wahala.

People should stop saying they are hating on Davido because he is a rich kid.... He has the largest fan base in Africa but I don't know about UK, US, Asia but a great number of his fan are people who are from poor/average background so why is someone saying it's because his father has money...

Davido has proved himself already that he could make it without his father's support or his fathers wealth... In fact he started without his father's wealth.

Why do you want to change your words, to seem a likeable person? Is it because you can see that most people here already hate you for talking down on them?

That would explain the attitude of majority of people towards rich people. The rub it in their poor faces attitude. The same way you feel upset is the way they feel upset that anyone would think they're better than them.

Not that I support them, because I've received major hate from jealous people I've never even spoken to before, even people who should be serving one due to their jobs, for no other reason than looking and being better off than them, as if it's ones fault! People will scratch your car on purpose because they think you think you are rich, and they are worse off, so why not scratch that car since you think you're better than them? I've heard that conversation before and it is chilling what people can do. But they never spoke to you to know that! They just assumed!

Jealousy is dangerous, and that's why poor people are best avoided. They can kill over things they will never understand or possess.

D question I asked u is simple, who made u an advocate and mouthpiece for rich kids?
If u say u are "working really hard at what u do", what makes u think that d people u are condemning aren't working hard at what they do?

Is there anywhere I told u to hate rich people? Did we at any time have any discussion about what I transmit to my children?

Based on these, who is now a warped mind? Isnt this another clear example of u exhibiting d traits u say u are trying to correct in others?

I didn’t realize anyone needed a special license or authorization to speak out against societal ills.
Even you can pick on any subject that interests you and lend your voice to it even though it doesn’t affect you, and that’s how we can collectively create a better world for us all.
But sadly you’re not cut out for such noble virtues, your mind is wired to antagonize anything you don’t fully understand. Your twisted worldview won’t let you be reasonable and you’re irredeemably incorrigible. So with that said I give up on trying to make you reasonable. But I pray you find your epiphany soon.

How is people's opinion about rich kids a societal ill? Kindly explain.

According to u:

That's exactly what d people u are condemning have done. They picked a subject of interest& lent their voice to it. Once again, u have shown that u don't even no how to defend ur self righteous campaign. Instead, u are contradicting urself at every turn.

What exactly is noble about what u are doing? Am yet to see it. Is it by concluding that others aren't working hard because they say things about rich kids which u don't agree with? Is that ur idea of being noble?

Like I said earlier, u have succeeded in showing that u are what u are condemning. It's like pointing one finger of accusation at others but your own four are pointing back at u for d offense. So take out d big fat log of wood from your eyes b4 u can see d speck of dust lodged in d other person's eyes. Ur self righteous can't make d world a better place

So it’s no longer about who made me a spokesperson for the rich? I guess that part is done and dusted.
To answer your questions:
1. If people like you used equal energy to make money then your kids will most likely think differently...that’s the truth, and you really should try it.
2. You questioned my background and I honestly answered that I was not born rich but getting there by dint of hard work, and I asked if you could say the same about yourself. Mind you, this way a question directed at you not everyone else as you’re desperately trying to twist it.

All you would have done is simply answer yes or no. I hate to say this but your cognitive abilities leaves much to be desired. It clearly shows that your mind is a wire mesh that catches only what it can and leaves the rest to slip through.
To stop you from wallowing further in your delusion, I’ll have you know that I’m not what I condemn, I don’t indulge in mindless and impulsive hatred like you and your ilk, and I’m neither self-righteous nor a saint. If u want me to go and rest, are u resting? If I am hungry for attention, what are u hungry for? Can u identify d misyarn that u are talking about and can u negate them? Am sorry, but what has "positive vibes being added to d convo" got to do with d issues I raised?

If nobody needs to be a mouthpiece before they can express their freedom of expression, are those d OP is condemning not also entitled to their freedom of expression? Is freedom of expression entitled to some people because u agree with their point of view and deprived of others because u don't agree with their point of view?
