Hi, I am Lady Bee: a wife (met my husband here, story for another day in another room grin !), mother, teacher, virtual assistant (both home and abroad), life coach, broadcaster(OAP), biographer, freelancer, content writer, community developer, data scientist and artificial intelligence enthusiast.

I started out early by going to school like everyone and I did studied a course of my choice; looking back now, I discovered that the Nigerian-System needs us all to make it better. MY bitter-sweet job hunt experience were elucidated below with lessons extracted:

1. Survival:
The first thing you need to do is to get the earliest job that will put food on your table, have a time frame in mind and work hard towards savings. This job should be within your locality so as to eliminate the cost of transportation or you relocate near your office.

Shared apartment is needed at this level (I shared accommodation with an aunt whom I was responsible to; she even screened my suitors before endorsing MY NAIRALAND HUBBY; kiss!).

2. Development:
I worked in this survival mode for 5 years (patience is the key), but I did so many trainings (free and paid) and that is why I can tell you that I am into so many things. I got married and we had a son cool , things were obviously becoming better till my husband's investments CRASHED embarassed embarassed (story for another day embarassed, he came back stronger and better anyways cool)!

I kept on developing myself and here I am today... every year I make sure that I get trained on at least a thing (EVEN IN THIS COVID -19 YEAR grin !).

3. Lunching Out:
Create a job (solve at least a problem in the society)

This level is not for cowards, but strong willed individuals; lunch out to make your dreams come true; leverage on your contacts during your developmental phase, have mentors who have similar goals as yours and have made a level of achievement ahead of yours.

Service rendering is key: I started virtual assistance job free of charge and I can tell you that during the LOCKDOWN, I earned over 100k assisting friends and family with clerical jobs from my small apartment.

4. Do not give up, THE SUN SHALL SOON SHINE!

Hi @LadyBee307.

What a wonderful journey and creative explanation of your adventures.

Well am more particular and interested in your virtual assistance experience. Can you kindly share one or two or more on how one can go about monetizing or profiting from such endeavor because am well adept with the said skill and expertise but has been a challenge profiting from it. Anticipating your soonest response

Hi, Happy New year, I am quite sorry for late response (I have some projects that I am currently working on..... GIVING BACK TO THE SOCIETY KIND OF).

The first thing you should rule out is GREED.

There are some AI algorithms being created now that needed data to be fed into them (SEND ME A DM), you will perform simple tasks like taking pictures and earn in few $.

My Virtual Assistant Job started like play, helping a friend (I AM HER VIRTUAL P.A now LOL).

Most Nigerian companies have issues with responding to mails even public sectors..... You can create a solution to this by offering your service to them... Place Advert on Naira Land and you would be amazed at the number of people who would engage you...... charge per sms/mail as your data and time worth.

You can help bloggers to create contents......

Content Creation is one skill that we all must work on as we move on.

ENJOY YOUR PURSUIT AND THE SUN SHALL SOON SHINE.

Lady Bee

LadyBEE what can N100k do for you ?

The Nigerian economy today doesn't support entrepreneurship, that I can tell anybody for free.

If you can, look for another job.

Very few business sectors today can support livelihood. That's what happens when people who don't have any prior business experience are in positions of leadership.

WELL, YOU MAY BE RIGHT

but if you think prospectively, It was during the Lockdown when no one was able to go anywhere and I was technically out of Job.....

I see big companies with 1806,,,,, 1605 e.t.c as year of establishment. The founders were never business gurus, they only grow along side their businesses and the businesses surpassed their existence. Africans have different values and that is why we are still where we are; the people I look up to like Steve Jobs were people who never give up.

I will not look for another Job because My Job now is To Create New Jobs...

Thanks for taking time to comment.

We can draw some good points out of the write up.... like taking any job after graduating... never be idle... even when in a job... keep developing yourself and expanding your skills. With such an impressive introduction I expected everything to be top notch... perfect... but am disappointed... and I'm sure so are others who took aim at the graphics. I was most disappointed in her use of lunch instead of launch. The first I wrote off as a typo... but again? She dosen't know it is launch and that's bad for such a professional.

Thanks.

Many thanks once again.....

WE LEARN AND GROW EVERYDAY.

I WISH YOU WELL IN ALL YOUR ENDEAVOURS. I will check your observation and readjust.

I came back here after many mentions to modify the graphics.
Unfortunately, I cannot modify it as stated by the algorithm.....

Lessons Learnt from comments made by my wonderful people here on NL:
1. Negative criticisms make lasting impression (wonder if we are genetically wired like that)
2. "Launch" is the word not "lunch"
3. Nairaland MODs are doing a tedious job
4. I am glad that My husdand is a Chelsea Fan while I am an Arsenal Fan (Criticism is always needed to move forward)
5. Many thanks to all those who used their data and precious time on this back and forth (I only wrote to encourage at least 1 person never to give up in life).
6. I love My NL Family (This is my business Moniker)

Thanks.
