I have been a victim before, there was no caution SIGN for first time driver. I parked to ease myself, within 1 minute, the so called FAAN towing men clamp on my vehicle. I was made to pay N5,500 as fine. This was a total form of extortion.
I SUGGEST WE SHOULD APPLY END LAGOS AIRPORT EXTORTION/ END LAGOS AIRPORT ILLEGAL TOWING

From the way you sounded that is not your first time at the airport, you ought to have know car park is the only approved parking space except you just want to pick up and leave immediately

Lagos airport wahala just summarized Lagos or Lasgidi.

I had a similar experience . Greed and wickedness. They wont hear anything but your money.

Decently dressed responsible looking Oga too was involved in my case.

Heartless. We deserve this government but my concern is that their likes seem to thrive

I have encountered similar case like this before at the airport and I look up and down nobody want to listen to me and I decided to call a number I saw on SERVICOM when I browse their contacts on google and luck on me a man pick and said I should give their team leader the phone and after speaking with them immediately they release my keys and get my tire pulp without a dine. Note; Anytime someone tries to intimidate u in any Government parastatals just call SERVICOM.

UDUJ:
Nigerian airports the only airports in the world where begging is now a culture. It's gets really embarrassing. Everybody from immigration and passport control, customs, baggage staff and others at luggage check points all asking anything for the boys every single time. Even those baggage handlers at the tarmac when you go to identify your luggage for local flights before entering the plane, after showing them your luggage the next thing bros I can send it to the front of the luggage carousel so you don't wait too long for your luggage once you land at the arrivals area, just find me small thing. Nobody does anything for free over there. You even have to give them tips for performing their jobs. I tire for this country. We have a very long way to go.

There are officials who begg at OR Tambo in Johannesburg,i also experience it in Kenya.
Though the act is disgraceful to say the least but
Nigeria is not the only place airport officials beg

Lol...nope. So, where did the leaders come from? Did they drop from the sky or were they once part of the people that also once complained about their leaders then? It's a cycle and you are clearly putting the cart before the horse. I get the idea that a system that is not working may force some people to do abominable things but that does not justify the mass-selfishness that has eroded the fabric of the Nigerian society. Everyone is thinking of a way to scam the unsuspecting neighbour.

If you want true change, let the value-system of the average Nigerian change and let's see if it won't affect the leadership or at worst, the leaders of tomorrow. I tell you, the leaders of Nigeria in 2050 may be currently somewhere suffering and complaining about how terrible Buhari is and yet, he/she is planning on doing worse once he gets to the corridors of power. I don't buy your explanation of 'it's still the leader'.

If you want to change a nation, start by changing yourself. If only everyone adhered to this.

God bless you for this submission.
they will still come out to argue with despite the simple explanation.
An average Nigerian love finger pointing, they will never agreed they themselves are worse than the leaders

This country has lost it.... I was at Anthony bustop in Lagos today and was shocked at what I saw... A Latsma official was signaling a tout to harrass a private car owner who was about dropping off someone there. The driver apparently knows their game and was quick to maneuver and almost injured the tout in the process of dragging steering....

You are very correct about SERVICOM. Unfortunately most Nigerians don't know that they are very effective in situations like this.

New Scam ke? This is old scam ooo. They did it to my sister a couple of years ago. That Murtala airport needs to be burnt down and started from scratch. I'm sure the custom officers are still collecting bribe to allow you check in your Nigerian food items. No be today. As much as they scam reach the all airport still looks like sh.i.t.

Today at the Port-Harcourt international Airport Omagwa I had a terrible and annoying experience.

I had gone to the Airport to drop my wife who was travelling to Lagos.
On getting to the Airport I dropped her off in front of the departure hall, came down from the car and brought down her luggage, and drove to the car park. I quickly parked and went to the departure hall to bid her farewell.

Since I was not allowed to enter the departure hall due to Covid19 regulations I had to quickly wave her good bye from a distance and returned to the car park.
On getting back to the car just within a space of 5 minutes or less I noticed that some persons have quickly locked the front wheel and tyre with a heavy chain and padlock.

When I looked around i saw the same people that impounded my vehicle locking another vehicle nearby. So I approached them to find out the offence I had committed that warranted them to impound the vehicle. Then I was thinking probably there is a parking ticket am meant to buy that i didn't buy. So on asking them, they said that I parked my vehicle in between the demarcation line.
That was when I looked carefully to see a very faint and unclear line that was covered with dust and sand.

I smiled and asked them how much was the fine so I could quickly pay and take my car home thinking that it would be around N2000 or at most N5000, and to my greatest surprise and chagrin, the lady amongst them said it was N15,000. I said to myself " what kind of country is this that sets traps for people instead of guiding you right. The said demarcation line is not clear at all and secondly I had barely parked within a a space of 5 minutes to say good bye and these people descended on my vehicle like hungry vultures to impound it".

I got angry but then i quickly controlled myself and demanded to see the person in charge of the unit. I was directed to meet a lady sitting under an umbrella at a corner in the car park I approached her and introduced myself and begged her to pardon me but she refused to budge, that was when I told her I am an ex-personel of the Nigerian Army and she said I should show evidence or get the soldiers at the Airport to intervene before they would release my vehicle. I asked them where the military base at the airport was located. They directed me and on getting there after identifying myself; they said it was beyond their powers to ask them to release my vehicle unless I get in touch with the Airport Commandant. I had to call a serving Army General friend of mine who now called the commandant that ordered the soldiers to escort me to the car park and make sure the vehicle was released immediately.

On getting to the car park the lady in Charge wanted to act funny by asking the soldiers to go and that they would release the vehicle; but the soldiers said NO that the order was to get the vehicle released to me immediately. And so that was how they reluctantly went to the car to remove the chains and padlock.

At that car park I saw other vehicles of unsuspecting visitors at the airport that these people had impounded. This is really very bad and wicked.

Please lets be careful any time you drive into Port-Harcourt airport or any Airport in Nigeria there are alot of touts and traps everywhere in these airports waiting for unsuspecting persons to fall prey.

I want to implore the people in charge of the Port-Harcourt airport car park to make these demarcation lines visible so as to justify their actions and give their "good job" a human face. Times are hard and these people are making it harder; besides this is January.

Be guided before you become a victim.

We get it at cheaper price here at home.

Noting again one can boast of that other countries don't have better than us. See the way we are treating ourselves..infact the problems are too much..

Nigeria is a failed state inwhich everybody either claim to be a christian (Christ-like) or a muslim and you still surprise who are the ones that rusticated this country into dark pit.
Imagine this kind thing happening in an int'l airport.
Whoever curses this country is really taking revenge on us rather than on the clowns that offended he/she.
