How do you explain the verse you quoted?
Was Peter the rock on which Jesus built his church? Paul fits better.

(18) Thou art Peter, and upon this rock . . .--It is not easy, in dealing with a text which for many centuries has been the subject-matter of endless controversies, to clear our minds of those "afterthoughts of theology" which have gathered round it, and, in part at least, overlaid its meaning.

What I and Op wrote are for people who have given their lives to Christ thereby coming into relationship with the Father.

The phrase "Pray without ceasing" simply means continue to submit your petitions until you are sure you have received what you ask for.

It in no way means you should pray for hours on end because the same Jesus Christ warns you against vain repetitions when you pray as some, especially the gentiles in His time, believed that by repeating the same over and over, they cause there prayers to be heard on high.
