Aren't you proving the point that public officials like Perm Secs cannot survive (or live lavishly) without corruption? Isn't it what people have been saying all along? We all know all these things bros.

Sultannayef:

Some Fed Perm Sec in Nigeria can easily make 25m a month. And I’m not kidding..

That billions you wanna make, Atiku and co have made it yet, they've also escaped the shit hole.

As a presidential aspirant and a billionaire, and aboki man for that matter, he should be cool with life in Nigeria considering he's got security details attached to him forever as a former vice president. But instead, that man now lives in Dubai.

I wont go into detail with you. Aisha Buhari and the wife of Yahaya Bello are also Dubai based now. Lemme leave it here for you to ponder on
They are politicains, with a lot if concern for their safety. Besides, I said I will only travel, after I have made it, and it will be for tourism only.

And I still insist, we should not make it look like those Nigerians that stayed back in Nigeria are fools......because in the real sense, they are the heroes.

It takes a courageous heart to remain in a place that needs fixing or to stay with someone in his or her time of trouble.....the faint hearted run away at the slightest fear.

Leaving Nigeria for abroad does not make anyone doing it a better person.....its just a decision. No matter how bad we paint Nigeria or how bad Nigeria becomes, some people, in fact a lot of people must stay back. If 30% of Nigerians make attempt to leave Nigeria to other countries, many countries will start repatriating Nigerians in their countries back to Nigeria irrespective of your residential status.....citizenship can be revoked so long as its not by birth and by indigenous parents
why then does your president (number 1 citizen who should be an example) keeps going abroad for treatment for even the slightest of health issues like headache.

A normal person with a functional brain and conscience will do everything humanly possible to make sure those world class facility and treatment he saw after the first visit is replicated in his country.

Abeg go and sit down joor, don't provoke me this morning. Do u know that bp, stroke, diabetes and other senior diseases are just like headache and malaria in those places?

One of the main reasons why people migrate to developed countries is for better quality of life. The quality and availability of health care is these western countries cannot be compared with Nigeria. One chronic illness in Nigeria e.g. cancer, kidney failure is enough to wipe out your savings in a very short time due to non-availability of good health insurance.

Yes, it may be easier to make money in a developing economy but other factors must be considered such as a better future for your children and their children.

You do realize that even in America, the sheer cost of treating a serious illness can send you into poverty right? At the end of the day, carefully consider your OWN peculiar circumstances, and migrate PROPERLY, cos the truth is, abroad really isn't for everyone. The amount of homelessness I have seen in London and the sheer scale of homelessness in Los Angeles should tell you that every society comes with its own challenges.

I understand what u are saying but every country has their own challenges. In america too u can be shot dead by police just for being black and nothing will happen. At least in nigeria u can #EndSars or even petition national assembly, but when u are abroad u have no voice, u can't complain or do anything. You won't understand till u experience what I am saying. No country is perfect. They all have their problems.

That's not common any more. More people get shot here in Nigeria than the U.S, this is not a joke. Bearing arm here is illegal but do you know more people get shot more in Nigeria than the U.S where everyone can bear arm legally?

If you have the means bro, secure the future of your children outside Nigeria. This country is not safe for existence. The U.S is safer to live than Nigeria. That's a country where arm is legalized being more safer than a country where arms is not allowed still people get shot everyday. If you always check the front page, a week will not pass without you not seeing a thread about someone who is either kidnapped or shot by gunmen. Only this week alone, I have seen 3 threads of gunmen shooting someone.

There are 99% other safer countries around the world more peaceful and saner to live.

My sole virdict is; Nigeria is not a safe place to live as a country.

Below is a thread trending the front page right now. After collecting 2 million ramson, he was still killed.

We are saying the same thing . . . I just have a problem with Nigerians (many of whom have never actually lived in the west) speaking as if some people cannot make or build a good life in Nigeria as well. If you feel abroad is for you (after doing proper and balanced research), please go using legal means, otherwise, what your eyes would see there, your mouth would quaver to speak of.

Why will someone even think of travelling to a white man's country through illegal means?

We are talking about professionals who wish to relocate legally not backyard relocation or Libya relocation.

You can get shot when you don't comply or behave violently towards police officers because bearing arms is legal there and police officers have to be cautious.

99.8% of Nigerians in the US never get shot at by the police because they never go into criminal activities and know how to respect police officers and comply with their orders.

You're 95% more likely to get shot as a "black man" in Nigeria than in the USA so this your argument is useless.

At blackpanda who told you when police kills someone in the states nothing happens
There is usually an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death
Sometimes the officer can lose his job or be prosecuted
The family can sue the city in charge of the police
Can that happen in Nigeria
Do you know the paid Breonna Taylor’s family $18million
Yes your loved one is dead but at least you got something out of it, this cannot happen in Nigeria
I rem one case that the police beat up a black man
He didn’t die but he sued and was paid $3M
Re: Canada Hype And Travel Rush: Here Are Things You Need To Know by nnennachiji(f): 3:34pm On Jan 13, 2021
During my practice as a doctor in Nigeria
I saw a lot of deaths that can be prevented
Do you know most hospitals won’t accept you without paying deposit

Someone said you can get broke paying hospital bills
This happens only in USA because of corporate greed
Other developed countries have universal health care
But i think I prefer being broke to dying from a preventable health challenge
Do you know you can sue a hospital here if the give you outrageous bills if you don’t have health insurance
I rem when my brother came to the states newly and he went to the hospital and the gave him outrageous bill
He took them to court and the slashed the bill and gave him a payment plan
My brother that lives in Nigeria would have died if he didn’t come to USA for his surgery
A mass was found at his right kidney and was said to be malignant
All the good surgeons I know in Nigeria said he has to undergo a laparotomy with the kidney involved removed
But my elder brother made arrangements for him to come here for the surgery
It was a robotic surgery they did for him removing only the mass and histology done revealed it was not malignant
You can hardly see the incision
Just 1cm line in 2 places
He didn’t pay all the money which is wrong I know
He is still owing them but at least he is alive
The made a payment plan for him reduced the money still he has not paid which is not good
He is already back in Nigeria
I don’t even know if he wants to pay the money
Re: Canada Hype And Travel Rush: Here Are Things You Need To Know by nnennachiji(f): 3:45pm On Jan 13, 2021
I can still remember one patient we lost
She had an operation for intestinal obstruction
The surgery was successful but she died from anesthetic complications
The consultant anesthesiologist that put her on General anesthesia could not use an anesthetic machine
She did not start spontaneous respiration after the surgery and she was supposed to be on the machine till she can establish respiration on her own but the consultant has not used it before
She died on the operating table
What happened nothing
Here your loved one can not die like that without consequences
I rem my friend that her mother developed bedsores while living in assisted living facility
She sued them and the paid her $100,000
Bedsores that my patients have in Nigeria when the are immobilized ,who will pay you
Hahahahahha

I think every society has its good and bad but when the good outweighs the bad then am okay with it
One thing about developed countries using USA as an example
When you commit a crime you are so done unless you have your own business
You can’t even rent an apartment because the do background checks too
Getting a good job won’t happen because of your record
It’s not like Nigeria you can steal from your boss even if police is involved you can still get a job somewhere because you name is not in any database
Here you won’t
My family friend stole from her employer here in the states
She lives in a different state but just type her name
You will see her record
Now she can’t get any good job she is cooking and selling to make a living

To Most Nigerians money is everything
For me money isn’t everything
My son’s story would have been different but because am in a sane society he is alive and am able to tell the story
Since I came here I don’t buy a lot of stuff including milk , eggs, cereal, fruits, etc for my son because my son is on wIC and government gives him some food items
He is my only child for now and I delivered him after 15 years of Ttc I can’t trade him for all the riches in the world
Everybody can not be Dangote
I saw a video of an African school, the teacher was using foam and handkerchief to demonstrate how to you a computer mouse
This happens to be a secondary school
But here my Sister’s children in pre-K were given IPad for learning
People value money but I value peace of mind
When I was home my son was always sick esp with malaria even though my house has net
I can count the normal of times we visit his pediatrician
When he became 18 months I received a letter from the government that he was due for a routine check up
We went and did it and we got 25 dollar gift card for taking him for check up
We also did his 18months dental check up and also got a gift card bearing in mind he barely has any teeth and really nothing to see.
I don’t have all the riches in the world but am comfortable that is what matters
Nobody is buried with all their wealth
I just want to live a good life

this is why i dont pity our people. instead of telling the truth they are saying that those that stay are not fools. anyway my uncle that came to the uk and left is a big fool. He died of heart failure. he works very hard without no rest. He came to the uk on business and he has been coming like that for over a decade. his business patner advised him to stay and that he would be given permanent residency. My foolish uncle refused. Then the rate of the naira start to drop. some years later e got sick which lead to stroke. We ad to be sending money for is wellbeing. a rich man became poor, at last he died last year. even his girlfriend who had a son wanted to give him residence permit through his son, my uncle refused. all his wealth gone except his house and his children are fighting over it. I always say to people its good to have 2 passports, if thing go down for you in nigeria, you can come back and rebuild your life. all his children will be in free education, free helth e.t.c. now some of his children are now saying they hate their dad for not bringing them abroad. nigeria is so bad that you now see nigerians in neighbouring countries like benin republic, togo, gabon, southafrica, gambia e.t.c

The first bolded, now we know what's making some of those abroad discouraging others from making the move. That's the erroneous mindset they have that is making some persons to start discouraging others. They are fast to tell how one can make all the money in Nigeria simply because they feel threatened by other Nigerians relocating.

Now we know why some abroad will always tell terrible experiences that they never had just to discourage others cuz they feel the place will be filled with Nigerians if they start telling all their good experiences. That mindset is myopic and a cheer selfishness. Think about the Indians and Chinese, they are the most populous people in most countries. If they have this same mindset, I don't think they will be that popular in many organisations in the western world. They help one another especially the Indians.

For the second bolded, that's not true. They will revoke your citizenship if only you commit a serious crime. They don't just revoke citizenship. Before granted the citizenship, you do swear to obey the laws of the country. If you are an abiding citizen, tell me how they will just come to you and revoke your citizenship. So all those you listed are not true.

My own point is that if any has the means to leave, do it for the sake of having two passports just in case. Nothing beats when you possess a first world passport. That doesn't stop you from being patriotic towards Nigeria. It gives you more options. If anything serious occur in Nigeria, you can easily move to your second country as a citizen of that country.

Even if you don't want to possess another passport, do it for the sake of your kids.

Majority of the politicians that are lavishing Nigeria resources have dual citizenship. Most of them bought passports of other countries with money they stole from politics. And non of their kids school in Nigeria.

When they are sick, they fly abroad for treatment. That alone should make one to have sense that the common man should find his way and secure his feature too just in case Nigeria ended up being a jungle.

I am not even talking about the insecurity issues but rather I am talking about securing your future and that of your kids by possessing another passport of a first world country.

With that, the world will be in your palm. You can travel to many top world countries visa free without the limitation of our Naija passport.

Being a Nigerian is a limitation on its own.

By the way, for the issue of insecurity, here are some bad news regarding that aspect. My question is are we truly safe in this our Dear country Nigeria?

Bro, I leave the answer to you.

I see how frustrated some people could be and the best way for them to ease it is to come on a social media to mislead or brainwash them.
1) you are wrong, Bayo Ogunlesi is a Nigerian billionaire living in diaspora.
2) Lebanese and Indians you made mentioned of are crooks. The reason is because they know that labour is very cheap in Africa. This is because of our crazy leaders. Labour should not be cheap. In a developing country or in an advanced country, you pay hugely for labour.
3) Yes like I typed, this is because of cheap labour and you can wave your taxes and boycott service charges.
4) Wakeup o. If u earn 100million naira in naija, the truth is that u still live in naija. The crooks and thieves that called themselves billionaires in naija children are not based in naija. Have you ever wondered why
5) if you have children... I would advise you to move away from that shithole country called naija so that your children do not swear for you when they become matured.
6) Big lie.... SARS are the most deadly uniform men in the world. Its only that naija do not have records. Look, when i was based in naija,SARS robbed me simply because they saw me with cash at 9pm whilst i was driving home. They collected all the money from me and told me that would spare my life for me to see another day.
7) Yes... do you know why? White people do not have like working like Nigerians does at home. They prefer to work 3-4 days a week and travel for the rest days. A graduate in naija works 12 hours a day. 6 days a week. At the end... they earn below 100k..madness
coolhow dare you mention Kuwait, south Korea. For goodness sake. These countries are not democratic countries.
9) if you get $800 as your weekly paycheck. Why would you not be able to pay for your rent monthly? Living in Nigeria is very cheap. Have you visited Ghana before? Living in Ghana is more expensive than living in most part of countries in Europe yet, the houses in Ghana can't be compared to naija. Naija houses are way better off.
10) My advise for you is that even if you earn 100million naira in naija. You are still based in naija. Leave that shithole country to secure the future of your kids. Anyone who studied in naija must require English proficiency to study in an advanced country. Is that not madness? I know you are comparing Dangote to rich Nigerians in diaspora. One thing I will tell you is that dangote is the one ruling naija. Everything he does favours him,he is number 1 politician in naija. All boarders are shut in naija yet only dangote and BUA are allowed to move. Nigeria has the market due to the population but that population is a liability. If you want the best for your kids, kindly relocate and leave that shithole country. You need money to migrate. A word is enough for the wise.

Princewill1:
The high successes recorded by dubious politicians, fraudulent pastors and ponzi scheme operators in Nigeria are living proofs that Nigerians can be so gullible. We can easily be deceived. The astronomical hype on Canada is the latest deceit in town. Here are things you need to know before immigrating.

1. The list of richest Nigerians is filled with Nigerians living at home. You're more likely to make it into Forbes if you live in Nigeria. At least that's what the stat shows, whether people making into Forbes in Nigeria are engaging in corrupt practices is a story for another day. The odds of becoming a dollar billionaire favours those at home . No Diaspora Nigerian has ever made it into Forbes billionaire list.

2. There are more money to be made in a developing economy than in a developed economy. That's why as you're rushing out of the country, Lebanese, Indians and Chinese are rushing in. Only few will understand. You're sitting on the biggest market in Africa yet you haven't realize this but the Lebanese and the Indians knew this.

3. If you are the type who don't fancy working for others, it's much more easier to own a business in Nigeria than in Canada/US. Western countries were set up for the 99% populace to work for 1% elites. Their education systems were designed to produce workforce for the rat race. Not to create employers of labour.

4. It's stupidity to resign from a high-paying job in Nigeria in a bid to relocate to Canada/US. Your eyes will get clear up when you start facing the hard realities in Canada. Those who had made this mistake in the past are ashamed to come on social media to talk about it. The ones talking on Twitter are 'freshers' who just arrived.

5. If you want to secure 2nd passport for your kids, you don't necessarily need to immigrate to achieve this. There are other ways, one method is overseas child birth.

6. You're 5x more likely to be shot and rubbed in New York than in Lagos. Poor neighborhoods all over the world has more crime rates. The thing is, when you finally made it in Nigeria, you can move to high brow areas with lesser crime.

7. Nigerians are spending up to 8millions ($21k) and above to immigrate to Canada/US whereas an average canadian or American citizen can't boast of $10k in their bank A/C's. They live pay check to pay check.

8. Some Nigerians claims that they ain't relocating because of the money but because of good infrastructure, good health care system, value for their money etc. That's a lie! 98% of Nigerians who're eager to travel out are relocating because of economic reasons. There are good infrastructure, good health care system and value for money in countries like Kuwait, Russia, Brazil, South Korea, Chile etc but Nigerians ain't trooping there, indicating that their preference for Canada/US is purely based on economic reasons.

9. It's cheaper to live in Nigeria. Canada/US promises higher minimum wage but the system will still take it away from you. It's like giving you with one hand and taking from you with another. $2k (N760k) will pay for your one year rent of 2 bedrooms apartment in a good location in Nigeria but same amount will only fetch you one month rent of a match box apartment in Canada/US.

10. This is not to stop you from traveling out but to inform you on the true realities. Economic immigration should be left for lower or working class who're struggling or to young lads who wants to school abroad and thereafter further their career overseas. Not to deceive Nigerians already earning good in corporate offices in Nigeria to resign and relocate where they will be employed as security guards or to deceive business owners who's businesses are thriving in Nigeria to close down business and relocate. Don't let them deceive you with the hype. Money don't grow on trees anywhere in the world.

Truth is bitter. Everything the poster mentioned in that post is 100% fact. Its only poverty stricken short sighted illiterate and educated Nigerians that would not agree with his post. I have most of my families abroad, even as far back as the 80's living in the UK and US, they are not making any headway there, just managing. My sister in law's husband is planning to relocate back here after spending several years there.
Nobody wants to be an employee forever. Most of the OP's points are what I always tell people; if you are relocating cos of your kids, fine. But why would I use a large sum of money running into several millions to migrate abroad where there are less opportunities, and a very high cost of living. Thank you OP for this post. When people criticize this kind of post talking about immigration, just know they have never travelled out before. A typical US/ UK/ Canadian based Nigerian would agree with this post 100%..A lady I know recently relocated back to Nigeria after her First Degree and Masters, she said she regretted spending all those huge amount of money in a foreign education cos at the moment she is a very, I mean, a very successful and rich caterer and events planner here, raking in millions and using her late fathers influence to get great contacts.

You got that right...only people who have never traveled to Europe or America think living there is paradise on earth!

Nonsense. Even a homeless man in US/Canada is most likely richer than a lot of first class graduate here. Some of those homeless people may sometimes spend up to $200 a month on alcohol alone. Graduates here don't make that much in a month.

At least in the US, you can be homeless in peace. Here people will just kidnap you and use you for money ritual.

My point is that , there is a certain level you get to in Nigeria that moving out of Nigeria should not even cross your mind.

Many reading this can never understand especially those that have not experienced some level of comfort in Nigeria. When I say comfort I know what I am saying, not those that will start calculating $25/hr salary and think that's a lot of money.

For those that are young and have the energy to hustle, YES, you can move.

Imagine someone with a good job in Nigeria, built a house or houses, set up a side business etc , rushing to CANADA, adjusting will be tough, many in that category regret so much.

Applies to oil company workers in Shell,Chevron and Exxonmobil etc. However, when the naira crashed, they started to relocate when they calculated the international tuition fees and other expenses for their children abroad they would need to pay.

Enough with all this Canada back and forth, the problem is 90% of those attacking the OP will never get to live in the Canada and definitely will never get to live in the US. You can scream and yell about japa all you want, but most of you will never live in or even visit those two countries but you can try Dubai or SA.
South Africa that is trying to chase all Nigerians away shocked

the good life was paid for by some people, don't u get it?

So it all still boils down to money.

So why can’t our leaders do same?
Don’t we have money?
Why do they keep stealing all the wealth of our nation
Am not in any leadership position and won’t be voted for even if I try to make Nigeria great
I will only do what is good for me and my family
For me been in a sane society is all I need

I understand the economy is really biting hard on the common man, but if we can really calm down and find some sense in what the OP posted. Even with my desire to travel, if I see that amount required to process my travelling to a better countries (sic), I will be honest with you, it won't even take the number one spot on my scale of preference. I will definitely use it for other meaningful things than travelling out of this country. It's not really an burning desire, even tho I will love to. I LOVE THIS COUNTRY AND EVERY BEAUTIFUL SOULS IN IT. I KNOW NIGERIA CAN STILL WORK, IF WE ARE PATIENT AND HONEST ENOUGH TO MAKE IT WORK!
With the current set of politicians at local, state and federal level there is no hope.

The OP has already done that. That is enough info on the two
What i will add is that travelling abroad and living abroad are two different things. When u travel u only see the things the want u to see, the beauty, infrastructure etc. But when u are living there, the nightmare will dawn on u. That said, everyone can make up their mind as to what they wish. I cant say people should use my experience not to emigrate. I can only tell u what i know, living in naija is far better!

I agree with this to an extent based on where you decide to settle. When you travel to Vancouver,Toronto,Montreal for example, you only see the beauty, but living there will can be a nightmare. You will likely never be able to afford a house there and live in a rented for the rest of your life and have only hundreds of dollars saved in your account, due to the high cost of living.

Key thing is to cut your coat according to your size and try not to accumulate much debt

Off course bro. .. na to japa if naija ain't working for your personal circumstances.

Bear in mind that some people have it all in Nigeria and those types don't need abroad , hence migration is a consequence of economics, good economics provides good quality of life and vice versa.

In addition, abroad can cap your potential but you'll achieve the quality of life you want , but it comes at a cost.. very big cost.

That was the point all along!

Leave that thjng. I know close to 20peopke who have moved to Canada and they are all working in good places such as banks, insurance companies, IT firms etc. It depends on your quality. These are people who previously worked for Zenith, GTB, Shell, Mobil, KPMG, Deloite, Unilever etc in Nigeria, with solid experiences.

If you go to Canada with degree, but with no pedigree from here, well maybe you may find it more difficult. Same reason why poor quality graduates are almost unemployable here.

The only issue is some of them might have been managers and directors in Nigeria. When they come here they have to start from mid-level positions and only a small percentage will likely end up getting to the top of their professions and get to management level.
