Do you know why we can't live by this, because it takes time to accertain who is a criminal or not, and as a result the person my have died before the verdict is given. So, it is better to save the person first, then he/she can be handcuffed to the hospital bed, so that when the police officers arrive, they can continue investigation.

You don't need to be a politician to say what you feel about a particular law. Why I'm asking is because you are sounding as though you are OK with the law. That's why I want to know what you feel about it.

Only a fool will feel saved in this country called Nigeria, any turn of event can be catastrophic for you which can lead to your eternal end and people will be happy to watch you dying. Nigerians often love to judge people that are in a helpless situation even though they are not in their shoes. You get arrested wrongly by police and people will start calling you all sorts of names: "see his urgly face like an armed robber", "kill him, he is guilty", "he deserves to be jailed", etc. I've seen many urgly comments like these even on this forum about people they haven't yet ascertained their offences. People have a general Paranoia and phobia for one another in this country, they will start judging you even before they know a single thing about you and your situation. It is a very dangerous situation for anyone who cares about their life.

I think I know why it was made, because they don't want some criminals to come seek safety in hospitals, after been treated, they run away, and evade arrest. But you see ehn, any law that entraps both criminals and innocents, is a very bad and inconsiderate law. The law should be made to shield innocent, and trap only criminals, that is why "innocent until pronounced guilty" is upheld in reasonable countries. Do you know it is possible for you to find a murder weapon on somebody, and yet that person may be innocent? That's why that statement is very valid. That law that says that gun wound victims should not be treated until they get police report is evil, because it entraps both innocents and criminals. There is no justification for it. The reason why it's still operational is because none of our elites have become victims to this law.

The guy may have died before he got to LUTH. I have worked in accident and emergency unit of two different federal government owned teaching hospitals and I know how we go extra miles to save patients even when the relatives are not around to drop a penny. It is always good to hear from the doctors before concluding. Many of the stories you read on social medial about doctors being wicked are false. I have been a victim before and it can be very painful.

God bless you my brother. Nigerians are damn too bitter to be sensible or reasonable. Please sir, is this law they are talking about true? That gunshot patients are refused treatment?

A doctor is required by law to notify the police of any gun shot injury he treats. Before now, he is to commence treatment only after a police report has been issued. So many innocents people died due to delay in commencement of treatment and just about 5 years ago the law was repealed or amended to the present one. "Commence treatment immediately as required by medical ethic but inform the police immediately".
