Guy, grow up and start showing maturity. One of the qualities of an adult is the ability to make decisions that is in the interest of what is best for all.

A representative panel was constituted over the Lekki tollgate saga to include youths representatives. The decision to handover the tollgate to LCC was put to the vote.

Those who wanted the tollgate handed over to LCC won 5 to 4. As an adult you must learn to abide by democratic decisions which is the will of the majority even if you dont agree with choices made. You can't chose which decisions to accept or reject merely to suit your sentimental and immature approach to life.

Also, proper adults understand it is important to separate issues so we can see things clearly. Justice for victims has nothing to do with whether the tollgate is opened or remains shut.

It is about establishing culpability , if any, and bringing wrongdoers to book. I am sorry to say but you Nigerian youths are very disappointing. You can't think critically , you dont appear to have the intellectual 'robustness' your peers worldwide do and you can never see all sides of the coin let alone have the ability to be fair to all. LCC (Lagos concession company) shot no one.

The tollgate was legally and contractually conceded to them under a BOT deal. Some of us live in adult worlds where we understand we must respect contracts and legal obligations and not be emotional about every single thing.

Anyone not happy about the transparent votes that handed the tollgate to LCC , when names of those who voted and how they voted was announced publicly, should go to court as the article advised. Only lawless anarchists will be protesting at the tollgate when other Avenues exist to seek redress for whatever decisions they are unhappy with.
Thank you so much for your indepth and mature analysis of the matter.
But I have one question for you to give a mature answer to it as well.Just as going to court as u advocated is a means of citizens expressing their grievances legally, are you saying that embarking on a PEACEFUL protest against a certain gorvenment policy is not also a legal means of expressing grievances by the citizens?

what about the innocent people who died because they fell I'll and could not get to the hospital on time because endsars people blocked road? where is their justice going to come from? while running a girl was runover by her fellow protester and died, where is her justice going to come from? you have nothing to do with the protest but the one structure that we do have you are bashing.......Oga sit down please.....there's an undertone of bias in your write up.

Funny you, I am certain you didn't read my reply properly, and if you claim you did then you clearly didn't understand it.

I was telling him that justice doesn't need to come from a mystical being, it can only come from a functional and independent judiciary system.
If the judiciary was functional none of these, including the protest wouldn't have taken place at all because the erring parties would have been tried by the court.

thanks for this analysis. I'll take my time to study it and see if that could change my sentiment

Please do, and keep an open mind while at it. Real victims of Police brutality in Lagos have been showing up at the panel including the sister of the notorious Evans The Kidnapper who lost her pregnancy during interrogation by the Police. The panel is expected to sit for six months and one month into its formation, it received about 80 petitions from victims of Police Brutality, but not even one petition from a victim or family member of the Lekki Toll Gate!

The excuse given by the protesters is that the government has threatened all the families into silence. Is this logical? Not even Mossad nor the KGB has the resources to threaten all parents, relatives, neighbors, friends, colleagues of a massacre simultaneously. But they will have us believe the Nigerian government with no database of citizens was able to pull that off. Let us be rational in our thoughts. DJ Switch who claimed she faced live bullets and even dropped dead bodies at the Soldiers' feet while asking them who sent them, is now so scared for her life that she can't come to the panel and is now seeking asylum in Canada. Is that plausible?

It is not everytime you have to carry placards and jump to the street to protest. Sometimes you have to dialogue, sometimes you take legal actions and sometimes you'd just let peace reign.

I can bet that more than 50 percent of those who want to protest do not have PVC. 2023 is around the corner, this is how we will continue to make noise and the old politicians will recycle themselves again.

Some say votes don't count in Nigeria but I tell you they count. Otherwise Obaseki wouldn't have won in Edo for second term and many examples like that. When people decide to vote overwhelmingly for thier preferred candidates, it is a done deal.

Go get your PVC and stop endangering your life to fulfill some people's ambitions.

You too can become President or minister tomorrow.

I am still trying to Unserstand why there shud be another protest when there is risk of people being infected with covid 19.when people get infected and start dying ,they will still come Out and blame government and Tinubu.when they loot Shops, they want government to compensate them, when people die, they want govt to compensate d Families.i think the people calling for this Protest shud bear whatever damage that is done .pay for all loses ,that is how its done everywhere in the world .organisers of Protest are responsible for anything that Happens .its stupid for people to call for Protest and Not able to Take responsibility

God bless you ojare. What any new visitor to our Country will quickly realize is that Nigerians are very stubborn people who are deceptive too in always hiding their true intentions.

I dare anyone to come and argue a cohesive case in favour of disruptive protests at Lekki tollgate, that will bring misery to those living and working in the Lekki corridor, rather than the arrangement of a court challenge against the transparent vote that decided to hand back the tollgate to LCC.

There is no logical or justifiable reason for the planned protest. Obvious the organizers have their own political/anti-Tinubu/anti-PMB/ethnic strife /secession/"Zoo must fall" and 2023 agenda they want to use unthinking Nigerian youths to achieve.

Goodluck to any Nigerian youth who joins the protest because you will be treated, by fed up Lagosians, as a senseless and destructive anarchist who is an agent of wickedness you claim to want to stop, an arbiter of injustice pretending to be seeking justice for others, plus a thug who does not respect Democratic decisions and the rule of law.

It won't change your "sentiment" because that is the way you are. Sentimental and ignorant. You had the option of educating yourself as the poster you quoted, AMINDA, did of his/her own free will, because he/she is responsible, fair-minded, mature and adult in outlook.

Instead you chose to insult and attack others only to then be taken to school by sensible and balanced folks who take their adult responsibilities seriously.

Brother you are likely beyond redemption unless you begin trying to see all sides of the coin everytime and always. Not only when it suits you and your biased viewpoint.

LCC was in charge of the Lekki tollgate before protestors decided, for their own reason, to congregate there.

How many family men does LCC employ and how many families will face hardship with continuous closure of the tollgate if their breadwinner cannot bring dough home?

Those kind of issues does not concern you and other Nigerians because seeing all sides, and attempting to be fair to each , is not your wahala.

Yours is to just hate and attack those you dislike non-stop without looking left or right. Why on Earth would anybody then trust you to take charge of a household let alone a local government talk less of a state and, God forbid, Nigeria?

Thank you so much for your indepth and mature analysis of the matter.
But I have one question for you to give a mature answer to it as well.Just as going to court as u advocated is a means of citizens expressing their grievances legally, are you saying that embarking on a PEACEFUL protest against a certain gorvenment policy is not also a legal means of expressing grievances by the citizens?

I am a fan of peaceful and effective means of protest that does not disrupt lives or cause chaos.

I think Nigerian leaders have it too easy and should be held to account far more. Nonetheless protests still need to be meaningful and relevant in direct response to wrongful action or ledership/administrative misrule.

Tell me what wrong has been done to justify a new round of protest at the Lekki tollgate even if peaceful? I ask this as someone who supported the original #EndSARS protests and was prepared to join before it was hijacked by vested interests and politics.

Nigerians demanded #EndSARS. They did and they listened to demands of the protest organizers. They convened an inclusive panel at the behest of protest organizers that included representative Nigerians youths accepted could speak and act for them.

Now the same panel, agreed by #EndSARS protest organizers to act as arbitrator, has voted with majority agreeing that Lekki tollgate be handed back to LCC.

What exactly then is the new planned protest against the decision of the Lekki arbitration panel in aid of? Are protestors now telling us they too are dictatorial, as they tell us Nigerian leaders are, and are only willing to accept decisions they want and not that a free and fair democratic majority vote settles on?

Some. Protestors now have nowhere to hide. Their readiness to act undemocratically and lawlessly now expose them as mischief-makers with hidden and vested interests.

Even when their demands are being met they are shifting the goalposts showing that they were never sincere to begin with and that the end of SARS and the end of misrule was not their real aim to begin with .
Re: Stage Another Protest In Lekki And Get Kicked - ALEG by igwe6: 12:40pm On Feb 10, 2021
Protest across the world is always staged at location that does not affect the public, or better still whoever wants to protest should go to the government office or the Lagos parliament to make their point known not on a major road that affect the economy of individuals and put others at risk. For instance when someone need to visit the hospital in an emergency situation with protest taking over the road that is a problem to someone.
Why at the toll road except if this is targeted at some particular persons. The protester can as well make use of the Lagos Ibadan express road if they are genuine with their protest since they like protesting on the road. The south west amongst all regions in the country has experienced a relatively safety all long particularly Lagos . Pls let us not allow us destroy where everyone is cooking out their livelihood in a peaceful way

Get all these stupid rants out of my mentions and answer this.

Did anyone at Lekki kill the policemen?

Were policemen killed at the tollgate?

Were lights not turned off and equipment moved before the soldiers attacked?

Is shooting civilians not a crime?

If you can't answer these questions then simply shut up.

Who is to be shot - members of the armed forces?
Anyone can be shot while committing a crime

If you were the CO of any police formation, you would wait for more policemen to be killed?
At the Toll Gate or anywhere
The more policemen that are killed the greater the strength of criminals and the weaker that of the police

People gathered to defy a curfew 36 hours after criminals started killing policemen, more than 24hours after people started killing policemen
When crime is raging criminals are identified because they defy curfew while law-abiding citizens stay at home

Nobody can guarantee that people who were ready to kill policemen were not present at Lekki
When a crowd gathers, you can only speak for yourself. Different people have different intentions

By the way, how many people were shot at Lekki, 78? 15?
I refuse to believe that several Nigerian soldiers fired live bullets at a crowd for more than 1 hour and only 78 people died

Go and check the record of lone mass shooters. Stephen Paddock single-handedly killed 58 people in 15 mins

How long did it take EndSARS protesters to come up with their nominees for the judicial panel?
They wanted the FG to dismiss, immediately, without proper trials, thousands of trained policemen who have contacts with criminals

Just 1 disgruntled SARS operative who also was fighting "injustice". 33 people were massacred in that operation
Now think about 5,000 angry ex-SARS personnel unleashed on the streets
