Residents of Texas have been captured lining up to fetch water amid days of blackout in the state caused by failure in natural gas operations, IgbereTV reports.

Operators revealed that the bulk of the power loss in Texas came from natural gas suppliers as pipelines froze, making it difficult for plants to get the fuel they needed.

Electricity is normally used to pump water into the homes of residents but since the outage, many have resorted to seeking alternative ways of accessing their daily needs.

In a video shared on Twitter by abc reporter, Erica Simon, citizens could be seen in a queue holding buckets and dispenser containers as they fetched water from a borehole tap.

The problem is the freezing wind which has killed at least 30 people, according to Al-jazeera news which I have been watching since morning.

The wind has destroyed so many things and every where is covered with snow.

Presently, the wind is ragging and the cold is biting.

At least in Nigeria we don't have weather problems.

Texas, the richest state in the US is home to a lot of ignorant people like you ..who only know oil and gas business and ranching.
They have a privately run power grid dependently mostly on fossil fuel power generation plants. Also because of rank stupidity their grid has no interconnectivity with other states so they cannot import power.
It was okay for a long while because Texas was mostly a hot state with a lot of crude oil and gas. Now God has shown that humility is important. Being grateful is important. A once in 5000 year cold blast has come and reset their brains.

My own issue is your lack of understanding that most countries get it wrong as well.
It is very stupid and ignorant to think only Nigerians make mistakes or have gotten it wrong. Pls open your eyes in the next three years. You will learn

Even though Texas is a "red conservative state", it is almost the biggest generator of renewable energy. The state is also among the largest in the US with numerous abundant wind, solar, and biomass production. To stress further, Texas is the largest producer of wind and biomass energy in the US and currently the largest investor of solar energy behind California. Wind energy is already far outpacing declining coal energy in the Texas power system.

Where do these highlighted words come from? Texas is not the richest state, but it's American state largest exporter. Washington DC is the richest area per capita while California is the richest per state GDP. And Texas is the second richest per state GDP after California, the nation's second-largest IT sector, and also top the country in many areas like biotechnology and many other sectors.

Texas is the world's third-largest energy producer and this should not be happening and what happened is rather unfortunate, and I believe many questions will be asked and answers as well. Mistakes? well lesson will be learned and there would be legislation that will forestall future power collapse in case of future severe cold weather.

And for the state not associated with the federal grid. Lol, is nothing to be mock about, in fact, it has been the pride for Texas and the sheer jealousy of many US states on how a state can be so power independent without significant issues for decades.

Many US states cannot attempt such power independent feat but Texas can, and pride itself as the world's third-largest producer of energy only after Russia and the US.

It is not stupidity for not connecting to other state to import power, Lol, they do not need it, why would they, when is the powerhouse of US energy and rakes in over $300 billion yearly in revenue and economic activity.

There is nothing wrong with showing how you suffered, but when people turn suffering into a competition, then who will think about improving so suffering is not normal, if its normal for the people, then they should not think about improvements, or leaving the country, since there is much suffering to enjoy and be proud about. cheesy

Other people suffer, but they don't celebrate it or hang it over their neck, they celebrate the ability to be creative, to learn, to change and to prevent others from suffering such.

Its only un-intelligent people that think everyone has to suffer, because they lack the intelligence to change suffering or to adapt, such that they can tamper it, like how ones tampers metal or molten metal or how one adapts cotton to fabrics, and from fabrics to beautiful cloths.

Celebrate only the suffering that changes and makes things better, not perpetual suffering.
