Pls help naira Landers, I just transferred money through mobile banking without choosing a bank name. I just input account name and account number and it went successful and they debited me. The receiver didn't get an alert, any possibility of getting my money back?

Ogeni you selected the first choice in the options column without knowing.

Quickly go and dispute the transaction on your app and call your account officer.

I thought bank name is first before account number? if this two tally the name will appear otherwise it will declared wrong info.

it's basically impossible with the banks I'm using.

except not in Nigeria.

Thanks bro, am still very confused I didn't select any first choice option. My mobile app only displayed account number and account name options without displaying bank names to select and the transaction went successful just like that

That's how it used to do, but this time it displayed only account number and name no bank name to select and it went successful just like that

Thanks but the problem is I don't have an account officer. But in a situation like this can the money be reversed? Does it mean that the money went into someone's else account and how is it possible without knowing the bank name?

call your customer care number the money can be reversed . check if you were debited

If the account in dispute is a UBA account and you used your UBA app for the transaction, and the recipient's bank is also the same as yours (UBA), it's most likely that the transaction was successful and the money is in the recipient's account.

Reason being that the default setting on your UBA bank app is on UBA and not other Banks, meaning if you don't click on other banks, it's assumed that you're making a transfer to a UBA account so once you inpute the recipient's account details and it's a UBA account, the transaction will go without bringing out a column for you to select the bank of your choice.

So my question is...is your bank the same as his?

Have you checked the receipt of the transaction on your mobile app, you will see where it went.

Go to transaction history on your app, you'll see the details of the transaction there. Cross-check the account name and number of the recipient.

My best guess is that you mistakenly typed a wrong account number and unfortunately it was a UBA account not first bank, that's the only explanation why the transaction went in the first place.

If it was a first bank account number there's no way it would have been successful.

Contact them through Leo on Facebook messenger. Just text "chat with human agent". Immediately send all your complaint and attached your account and phone number. The issue would be resolved within 10-20min.
