What sort of misinformation is this?
A University graduate in any federal parastatal today will either be employed with Conraiss 7 which is same as level 8 depending on the salary scale of the place.

Level 3 is for school cert holders.
aunty carry ur ignorance vomit for here. CONRAISS stands for consolidated research and allied institutions salary scale. They are paid almost like lecturers of higher institutions. CONRAISS 1 is equivalent of grade 7 in core civil service

Hello everyone, please I need your opinion on this issues. I got an employment letter for federal government job I interviewed for last year. During the interview the panel actually told me I am way too qualified for the position they are interviewing me for to which I replied them I will take the offer as long as I can progress and grow through the ranks and they told me that they loved my reply that that was what they were expecting me to say.

Today, I received a mail containing my appointment letter and I see the gave me grade level 3 step 2. Although it is a newly commissioned government agency and I am a university graduate with about 5 years work experience. Now I am confused with the grade level I am being offered.

Secondary, I currently have another appointment letter with a private company lacated in the north east, the salary is good with allowance and the working condition is not so bad, I would have loved to take that offer but the location is not favorable to me as my family is scattered between the north west and south west so going to the north east to work will be a difficult thing for me.

I'll be glad if I could get your opinions on this, I don't know how much the Government job would pay yet.
There is something they call Scheme of Service; this book stipulates your schedule of duty and the method of entry vis a vis your qualifications. Position or designations are given according to the strength of your qualification.
But in your case, I may not be able to talk more cos of the grade level you talked about. Grade level 3 is for junior officer cadre

I’m
Trinityman:
Pls let be guided to come here and share info you are not sure of....Conraiss 3 is equivalent to Grade level 4 which is the Entry point for school cert holders...Entry level for a graduate is Conraiss 7..Which is grade level 8...if they placed you in grade level 3 it means you are placed using your school cert...But since you would be on probation..It may be corrected during your regulation exercise after 3 months

Let’s be guided on what exactly?

This man’s problem and the responses here show that Nigeria has a very long way to go. We are all confused because those incompetent people managing Nigeria are taking us backwards.

How can a potential employee or even someone who has just applied for a job and received his appointment letter not know how much he’d receiving at the end of the month? Why wouldn’t the employers give out such information?

Does that not tell you that those at the top are dodgy and can’t be trusted.

Every job should have all the relevant information about it attached and available to everyone, from the job specification to the financial and welfare benefits...why is this ministry not giving out this information and why wasn’t this man properly informed about this new job??

You don’t have to be rude to him. Many people like are also ignorant of that. I am hearing about CONRAISS for the first time here....but I think it’s good practice to give out relevant and unambiguous information to people concerning the roles that they are applying for.

Is there any link out there that you are aware of about this CONRAISS or the salary structure of the various federal government ministries ?

Pls share it here and educate us.

When you secretly applied for the job, you didn't tell your fellow nairalanders. Now you have the job then you want us to tell you what?

Busy minding my own business here.

If you can be able to save and establish a business from the offer you got in the North East, I will advise you to take it, level 3 is for SSCE holders.
Level 3 in an agency won’t earn more than 50k, which will take every 4 years before you’re being considered for promotion

Just for the record..Promotion of Junior workers in the federal service takes place every 2 years. I doubt he was offered GL 03 as a graduate. The scale could be different from grade level. He may want to inquire on the salary scale of the establishment..

grade level 3 step2 is for those that did not make upto 5credits in their WAEC those that made upto 5 credits start from grade level 4. That is why they told u you are too qualified for the job.
Maybe their graduate slots have been filled already by politicians that are bigger than ur own political godfather.
My advice for you is that if u are already working somewhere else don't resign yet check the job for three months and know what it has for u because I know they might do proper placement or they might be giving unnecessary allowances as we usually see in new agencies.

It is usually stated on the appointment letter. May I also know the designation. This will help to know if you are on grade level salary scale. Grade level 3 is a very low cadre scale for maybe SSCE O'Level.

Designation is Field Technician

They gave you the post of a junior staff and for you to make it there or progress, you will dump the degree certificate/experience and start all over.
That salary no pass 40k...agency salaries is not huge for starters.
Pls risk that north east job cus Buhari is still the president and so that 3 step 2 is a chicken change.
Good luck

Don't get discouraged yet.

My friend's elder brother got a job at same level 2016,got sent out of the country for a four-year assignment. Upon his return in 2020, his life changed. He acquired a 95 million naira property (house) here in Abuja.

Just ensure you put in your best.Since it's a new agency, there might be over seas training for you

Level 3 is majorly for secondary school certificate. And ur qualifications is way bigger. atleast with Degree and 5years experience you should start from level 8.
if you accept that level 3 offer, you won't pass level 7 before you retire
How did you know? It doesn't work like that though i don't know how it works in there because it is new but he will be promoted real quick if his input is great and self rewarding.
My dad entered with o levy got BSc with other courses, training and experience he got for himself, he reached manager of a department.
If that federal job is among top notch in Nigeria, that guy and his children will never be poor again.

Go work for nnpc, they will give you free health care still you retire and die, your children will have free access to health care still 23 years. Your wife free health even after retirement. They will pay you for housing still you retire. This is just a tip of the iceberg.

u need to know the type of salary scale they use for the agency.
Starting point/scale for a new medical Doctor in federal government agency is usually conmess 3 step 3. So u need to know the scale

Yes like assistant lecturer is started with Conuass 3 step 2 which is 1...k.
He should ask well or divide his net pay that will written in his appt letter by 12months.
