The CBN was being proactive!

If they had kept silent Nigerian banks would have started investing heavily in it and when the tide turns investors funds would have been lost leading to failure of the banks.

Those of you following Elon Musk would soon realise that the guy is ignorant and knows nothing about Finance...it's better for him to just stick with IT instead of the Pump and Dumb he keeps leading on social media angry
The world richest man know nothing about finance? U are very senseless for making the bold statement! U that know something about finance, what are u worth??

That's not happening anytime soon.

So if you go to the mallam in the corners store nearby to by biscuits you will start asking him for his e-wallet address so that you can send him 0.00000024 Bitcoin abi? grin
It can happen anytime soon!
In abuja towards nassarawa axis, there is a herbal seller now taking bitcoin in exchange of his product. They prefer you pay in bitcoin, or at least 50% bitcoin and 50% cash. Anyone familiar with that route must have heard him. His speakers are loud.

Makes no sense.

If you invest $100K on bitcoin as a store of value, you will expect it to double in value within a very short period of time, as a smart investor, you should withdraw the $100K in 3 digits batches and have just your profit sitting there to the moon.

The crypto future guarantees enjoyable future without work.

Just invest in future tech IPOs and ICOs and sit back and read books and watch movies and 'eat' from your money working in the hands of tech engineers and their technologies.

Savvy?

This is the future that your dull Federal Government is too ignorant to foresee.

They won't see it because they need ignorant gullible people like them during election seasons to campaign for them.

Stop displaying your ignorance here in public.

Being wealthy menas you know how to take advantage of opportunities and generate cash...it does not necessarily make you an expert on financial matters.

Tuface, Flavour, Davido, Burna Boy are rich and among the top earning Nigerian start, are you going to call them finance experts simply because they have money?!

What kind of human are u??
We are talking of word richest, u are mentioning tuface?? Being world richest is world apart from being rich!!!
Do u have an idea of the level of business acumen it takes to be world richest?
U can only become world richest when u are able to see the future, bill gate did it & that is what elon is doing now! Someone that invested otedola net worth in bitcoin, u think such a person is f00lish? Watch this space, all of u speculating senseless reports to discredit crypto will have your children to explain to in the future!
By then it will become so big, that no common man can invest in it, only govt will have d funds to invest. If u know the worth of bitcoin in 2015 & what it is worth now, with deep graphical analysis, u will know crypto is the future!

What currency isn't used for illegal purpose?

That is how our mumu CBN governor went giving speech about a subject matter he knows nothing about. Talking about how crypto-currency is created from nothing...when he runs to the NSPMC to print trillions of naira for his Masters...did he not create the money out of nothing!

I think "investing" in bitcoin is gambling. You should use the term "speculate".
Ask yourself what is the basis of worth that warrants the price it currently trades at -- what is it's intrinsic value?

Many are not as wise and methodical as you think, they end up losing everything because they are over-leveraged and greedy.

I think it more or less resembles a pyramid scheme in the current state that it is in. What happens when there is no longer new "investor" money coming in. I just don't get the craze for bitcoin and it might end in tears for many people.
is stocks not gambling? Is real estate not gambling? Is fixed deposit not gambling? Everything is gambling with some measure of risks.

No, banks are not in any problem. Bitcoin has terrible UX. Transaction charges are higher that what you would pay locally at your bank for transfers. Where it shines is in it's decentralization which makes it censorship-resistant -- nobody can block your account or stop you from sending money to anybody. The sad thing is not many people have use for that feature so Nigerian banks are safe, or would you keep your life's saving in BTC?
is your money safe in Nigerian bank account than in bitcoin? That money you have in your bank account will continue to drop in value together with bank charges. So the lost value where is it going to?

And you didn't see the last paragraph ?

Bitcoin also vaulted higher in recent weeks after corporate giants — including investment fund BlackRock, New York bank BNY Mellon and credit card titan MasterCard — embraced the digital unit.

"Did America rush to ban it ??
Did america ask the central bank to close accounts of bitcoin exchangers ?
